    Rooftop vent colors

Here's a Google image search for rooftop vents: http://www.google.com/images?um=1&hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&biw=1920&bih=840&tbs=isch%3A1&sa=1&q=rooftop+vents&aq=f&aqi=g3&aql=f&oq=

    Corrugated metal roof panel sizes

The 26" width is pretty much standard for the "wavy" / rounded metal sheets. The newer flat/angular styles sometimes come in 30" & occasionally 36" widths. Remember, with a 26" panel, only 24" is visible. With good construction, the joints should be tight, so the width of the panels is much less...

The prototype uses prefab track for the same reason as modelers, quick to install accurately. Here's some more info: http://modeltrains.about.com/od/customizingmodeltrains/ig/Open-Loads-Photos/Switch-Panel-Car.htm

    Over-grown rails

Here's a pic of an overgrown industrial lead in Fontana, CA that sees pretty regular use. The UP maintenance crew stored their equipment there while upgrading track on the Declezville spur, and didn't seem too concerned about the weeds, as it was several months before they were finally trimmed.

    Did anybody see Unstoppable yet?

I saw it last night and loved it - and so did my wife, whom I had to practically drag to the theater. The on e part that bothered me was when the two units got in front of the train to slow it, and they tried to helicopter the guy in....really? Just have two engineers on the power up front, and...

How to Make Trees and Shrubs

There's no way that I know of - the problem is that white glue, when wet, readily sticks to what ever you apply it to, but doesn't stick to itself - so no bond until it dries. And it isn't tacky for very long, quickly forming a skin when left exposed. I'd suggest using rubber cement, which you...

That is so cool! I go through my back issues of both magazines like they were published yesterday. I look forward to digging into the archives.
