Yep, that's because they were mainly based in Germany, wrong side of the road too !!!
It's actually on the "wrong side" for Germany. Correct (not right) side for the UK. Must have been disconcerting to drive on the wrong side of the truck for the roads in Germany (in terms of what your used to so naturally react to). Since Germany drives on the right side of the road (in both meanings of the word LOL)

Evening!!
Nothing to report, but keeping with the trucking motif, here is a pic of what held up traffic in our area a few years ago. It is the plane used to piggyback the space shuttle, on it's way to Johnson Space Center. And since there is a railroad track in the photo,

You simply got used to it, but was interesting when you had a traffic stop and the Police went to the passenger and asked for his driving licence.

Morning all,

Only IT department person in today.

Going to be real fun later. Have the crew finishing up my house, and then going over to do the new sheet vinyl for the boy. In addition a carpet guy restretching the carpet to tie back into the new flooring. On a side note, the toilet is in and will be installed later today, then the bathrooms are done. I'll have to cut the new trim for the boy's house and finish the kitchen and entry area in my house. While it sounds busy, really doesn't take long once you get into it. Still have to mow the yard as well.

Currently 58° and cloudy, going for a high today of 60°. The "cold" front that came through didn't do much but lower temps. The rain that was supposed to come with it never materialized. At 4:30 this morning, the radar indicated rain along the front, but even the weather guy said it probably wasn't hitting the ground.

Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and 70°, waiting for Patrick's cold front to come through around noon. Temperature range of 45°-75° for the next five days. The NWS is still predicting possible rain next Thursday.

The weekly grocery trek yesterday was uneventful; doesn't seem that prices have budged any since last week. Except gasoline has dropped to $2.86/gal all over the place. Home Depot was jammed pack full, but I was only buying one item so I got in and out rapidly. The stop at the local drugstore was interesting, as the lady knew my name before I told her who I was. Frequent customer I guess.

I've never driven a truck, although I dealt with truckers and route scheduling as part of my job over the years. I am also constantly exposed to trucks and drivers of all skill levels due to my use of IH35 as my primary thoroughfare. I can attest to the younger guys, particularly the "hombres", as being quite problematic on the roads around here. IH35 is the only interstate that runs from Mexico to Canada, so there is a whole lot of trucks on it, carrying imported goods.. In my area, there is a lot of gravel being hauled from just west of here to the thriving building industry in Dallas. The "rock-haulers" are definitely the worst of the bunch. They will change lanes (at slow speeds) into a gap of maybe 100' when the left lane is going 75 mph, thus causing and nearly causing accidents and certainly disrupting traffic.

Activity yesterday out in the train shed was mostly dull and boring. Painted the fence mesh, made two of the four gates, but only got one horizontal fence post installed. I posted yesterday that it was difficult.

Tom O - Wow! 35 minutes for 5 bottles of soap! The fascination with self-checkout is interesting here. Yesterday there were long lines at all 20 self-checkout lanes, but no line at all at the cashier lane. I always used the manned lanes because I'm not doing something that I pay them to do. I did however get the idiot bagger. He was laughing hysterically the whole time that I was checking out. I admire Kroger for giving these mentally-challenged people jobs, but maybe they should be doing jobs that aren't quite in the public's view. The cashier and I did most of the bagging.
Good luck with the China Virus. If Terry is indeed positive, I wish the best for both of you.
Chris - My yards are already as full as I like them.
Chet - Congratulations to your daughter and you on the new granddaughter.
Sherrel - While I encounter a lot of trucks, and have for many years, nothing compares to the scene that you posted yesterday; except when we have ice or snow on the road.

A lot of birthday's today, Paul Simon, Jerry Jones (Dallas Cowboys owner), Sammy Hagar (Van Halen singer), Jerry Rice (football player), Margaret Thatcher, AOC (noted Socialist). More importantly, it's National No Bra Day which I celebrate every day.

Everyone have a good Friday the 13th.

Good morning from Wisconsin. Wet and very windy is the continued forecast and it’s been that way since Wednesday. High today might be 54f degrees. The winds are steady in the low teens with gusts into the high 20’s. The rain will be heavy at times and the creeks are going to get filled. We shall see what if any of this comes true besides the winds that are definitely bending the trees. I just checked the collection beaker at the front of the house from 7AM on Thursday to 840am today just over 2”

I went to see Aladdin last night because we had already given our hockey tickets away. Terry called her newly divorced friend and my Endocrinologist to see if she wanted to join me, she did. She looked at Terry last night and brought over a testing kit from her clinic and Terry tested positive again. This morning Terry has no symptoms.

I guess today is a lay low day. I had a choice between the hockey on campus or volleyball. I am doing the hockey and taking along the grandson. The son in law is taking our granddaughter to the Volleyball while the daughter was already attending but with her friend who is an assistant Athletic Director at UW. The daughter will let us know who has the better seats, us or the UW Athletic department.

I am wearing a mask around Terry even in the house. One of the electronic guys will be here at 10 even though he is aware Terry is sick. She spent some time Tuesday in the layout room with the crew but no one has reported they are sick. I have contacted everyone to be aware. The crews come in via the garage entrance and actually won’t be anywhere near Terry today. The reply from her doctor last night was, wear a mask, stay out of crowds and live her life!

enjoy the day

Good Day, Gentlemen and those who are bragging on their truck driving skills!
58 degrees now and looking for 83 later with clear, sunny, and calm.

I had the pleasure of driving a LODESTAR while working for an oil company in Southern Arkansas. I made trips to Chicago, Calgary, New Orleans, Houston, and D.C.
Here is a photo of one for your enjoyment!
Sign me up for co-pilot😁

TomO-

FYI - One of my friends who is a 20 years older than me came down with a cold. He thought it may be COVID but he went to the doctors earlier this week. Took the COVID tests all came back negative and had blood work. Turns out he has influenza B.....whatever strain that is, I got to look that up. The doctor said that it was running rampant in North Carolina where he lives.

When I was working in Massachusetts, one of the co-workers had a right hand drive car from Bermuda or the Bahamas or somewhere there that are part of the Commonwealth and British influenced. We had to drive down to NYC one day to meet with a company about an issue we were having. I got to sit in the left front seat, where a normal car has its wheel. As we went through toll booths (old style manned ones), I got a kick out of rolling down my window and handing them the ticket or money or whatever and not having a steering wheel in front of me. They all looked at me strangely...

Japan also drives on the other side of the road, similar to most Commonwealth countries. When we're there my assigned seat is the left front, since I am the tallest and need the leg room of the front seats. So for me, I just sit in my normal seat, even though I am not driving. Japan has enough left-hand drive cars on the road that at a lot of toll booths, there is one lane for the left hand drive cars, either manned or the payment machines, and parking garages often, if physically able, have ticket or payment machines on both sides of the lane. (only the most common and numerous models of non-Japanese cars in Japan are right hand drive -- the more expensive and limited issue cars -- think most BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, etc. and most American cars, are sold as their normal left hand drive -- only the most common and least expensive BMWs would be imported as right hand drive)

Good morning. Low this morning 47°, currently 57°, going to 64. It is sunny with light winds out of the North.

Today, Friday the Thirteenth came on a Friday...with appologys to Walt Kelly and Pogo.

Last couple of days have been busy, and I literally did not have the time to go through all of your posts. Tom O' and Terry O', hope the Chinese Influenza has not infected y'all. Also some great posts on trucks.

OK, since Tuesday, I have replaced a GFI outlet in the garage, (my fingers no longer like 20 AWG or even 14 AWG wire).

George: The Master Bath sink was backing up/not draining. I scrunched down to work inside the vanity, and took everything apart. Nothing that would cause a back-up. It's not the vent pipe, as everything else works as intended. So...I ran the snake through the PVC drain pipe from the vanity to the T. I was able to dislodge a huge hairball, the final pass was clear, so I reassembled it. No leaks, I'm going to run some Draino that will hopefully clear any residue...if not, time for a plumber.

My / our biggest mistake yesterday, was getting the "New" Covid - 19 vaccine, and the "2023 version" 65+ Flue shot. Today, we both have chills, (no fever), and cannot lift our arms. Last night, I had an increased heart rate, and breathing issues. The Point of injection hurts like hell. I'm also discounting muscle pain, which I attribute to scrunching down in the vanity, and related tugging.

I couldn't finish watching the Detroit vs Jersey Devils season opener at the Rock. Still 0-0 in the second, final was 4-3 Devils. :) 👍😺.
I'm still planning on getting the RSV immunization in two weeks, as recommended, but against my better judgment. I'm a lemming following advice of the authorities, although I'm very skeptical of the effect of the shots, after my experiences last year.

Yesterday, I had my sixth Covid 19 shot, and my umpteenth flu shot. I've now had three Pneumonia shots since I turned 65, (ten years), I have had Pneumonia in 2018, 2020, and 2023, and the flu in 2021 and 2022. No Covid though. Wonder if I'll catch something from the injections?

I also get a perverse pleasure when some egotistical ER Triage Nurse, snarkily remarks about people not getting recommended immunizations. Last November, I was able to be just as snarky, stating I had Flu/Covid/ and Pneumonia Vaccines, but Flu and Pneumonia failed to work. 😼😼😼

Granted, I have now six covid tests, but have never tested positive. Then again, I don't bother testing each time I sneeze. I imagine the false positive and false negative for covid tests is quite high. So either the vaccine does work, or the tests don't work all the time. I don't know which is the case.

In addition to all the National Days Willie mentioned, according to NY TV News, today is International Jihad Day. They were warning people to avoid malls, theaters and other places where people congregate. For what this is worth, considering the situation in the Mid-East, there is a possibility that some radical might want to make a statement at others expense.

Nothing on the model railroad since Monday. I doubt I'll get much done today.
