Well, howdy there internet shop dwellers, and those who read all the way through Jazz's posts, hearing their grammar teachers in their minds, and go about mentally inserting line breaks, punctuation as needed, and the occasional smiley face, lest Sister Mary-the-mauler and her ruler of doom strike out again for confusing semi-colons and comma usage.
It's Troy again.
Had a fun time running the tourney yesterday. Had Two people call off for positive C-19 tests (or going to get one). One new gent made it in but was fairly new to the game. I paired him with an experienced player who has a good way of teaching about him. Unfortunately, he was running a min-maxed force and wasn't skilled enough to play it well.
That's the problem with min-maxed lists (maximized for a certain ability/effect/play factor, while minimizing other liabilities). There is always a hole in the planning, and there is always a counter. The teacher's list was an ad-hoc thrown together last moment to help balance the good vs bad guy ratio. And it was exactly the counter to that force by sheer accident.
The second game didn't go much better for the poor chap.
He, unfortunately, decided to call it a day.
And, I was playing "ringer" or Gumby in the tourney. I had to fill in to keep all the # of opponents balanced. I never played to win, just to challenge and make the other guy earn the victory.
Which put me at the bottom of the list. Unfortunately, neither the gent who left early, nor the real participant directly ahead of me in points wanted the totally awesome
Better Luck Next Time trophy.

So, I'll put it on my memento shelf. I may have to make up another, without a date, and perhaps a wooden spoon. Since a lot of miniature wargaming comes from our British friends,
here's the Wikipedia piece on the origins of the Wooden Spoon award. Trust the Brits to come up with an excellent name for a bad award.
MIL news isn't much. The wife and her sis took MIL around to see three assisted living facilities. They're leaning toward the one closest to our condo.
But, they need to get MIL into an attorney for asset management, will updating, medical power of attorney etc. The current paperwork has the third sis listed for PoA, and she lives in Texas, not Indiana. She hasn't lived her for over a decade, so time to get the local daughters on the paperwork.
I'm back to writing today. Nose to the grindstone. I should probably take down the tree eventually. But it can wait. We've got a condo in our complex I walk by on my sojourn, that just leaves their tree up year round. They just unplug it from about now, then plug it back in around thanksgiving.
