HI gang! Hope all are well. I've spent most of the day getting rid of a computer virus. Man, that thing was something else. It is a Rogue AV Virus Suite that somehow got on the computer (probably when I was looking at some girlly photos :o:D )

It begins by a pop-up warning saying that an external source is trying to gain access to my computer, "do you want to block". Not thinking, you hit yes. Then another pop-up says "file ---- is infected, do you want to run a scan." It also gave a warning of a file infection every time I tried to start a program. It wouldn't even allow me to open the control panel's "remove programs". Well, I right clicked the pop-up and an AV Suite window opened and it (by itself) started running a scan. Then Internet Explorer started up going to different junk sites like Viagra, etc.

Finally, I woke-up "hey I don't have any d-mn AV suite, I use Norton's. (It had even placed an icon down in the task tray.) I ran a full scan from Norton's and it said everything was ok. I opened the Norton's startup section and saw a file listed that shouldn't be there. Once I disabled the startup on that file and restarted my computer, the problem seemed to go away. I then located where the file was and saw an .exe that shouldn't be in my Application Data...then I knew for sure: something wrong in Denmark.

The next step was to download Malwarebytes and run a complete scan. It found all of the malware (12 files), including the one that was put into Norton's. I guess the file in Norton's was to hide the presence of the Trojan.

Any hoo, beware and if it should happen to you, go for the free Malwarebytes.:)

Thanks for the warning Rex. I came across that nasty little thing a few years when it infected Photobucket. I got it off my machine by first blocking it's ads then tracked down the program and blocked it as well. I then had AVG kill it.

Rex- Yup sounds like what crashed my laptop last year. I caught on when i saw it looked more like an advertisement then a pop-up warning. Norton wasnt very great in my opinion. Ive been using AVG for awhile and been doing fine.

Morning All!

What a weekend! I've been working 7 days a week lately and it's wearing me out. Friday I worked 8 hours at the publishing co. then 4 hours with my other job. Saturday and Sunday I worked 8, 8.5 and was pooped!

On the weekend job I rode the fences with a golf cart, wrangled a flattened, dead frog from a puppy, sprayed purple meds on a chicken's hind end, and listened to Dean Martin for 2 hours. The best that can be said for it was that it was not boring :p

Did you ever look at your life and wonder "Is this it??" Ugh! ;)

Chris...I am sorry to hear about your family strife. I too, will say a prayer for the best results.

Jim...Y'all are getting too much heat! Sheesh! We bumped 100 last Friday, but it has not been too hideous...yet. Stay cool!! (+ no humidity ro speak of...)

Matt...I love rafting! I have rafted the Colorado though Eagle, Glenwood Canyon and the best...the Arkansas through Browns Canyon. What a trip! 3 days before I did the Ark., a woman died while rafting due to high waters. They were giving it a Class V rating...never did find out if that was acurate. I called my guide to make sure the trip was still a go because National Parks folks were talking about shutting down all rafting. The river was running at twice it's normal flow. (Gotta love that mountain runoff in June!!) It was a blast! It was the first time that we had to get out and walk the cliffs above the river to scout out our path through the rapids. We lost a rider in the Widowmaker rapids, but he kept his head and turned himself feet first and another group of rafters plucked him out of the water at the base.
The river was running so fast that we completed a full day trip in half a day, so the guides told us we could redo it if we wanted. It was the best!

Corey...Glad your wife seems to be doing well. I hope her prognosis keeps improving. Will say a prayer for her.

Rex...I mistyped "Youtube.com" a couple of months ago and was amazed at what popped up on my screen. Was expecting to see a dawg going nuts while greeting it's returning (soldier) owner. Instead a porn site came up...so to speak. Then screens starting popping up all over the place. What a bother! Got it taken care of, but now am much more exact in my typing!

Hope everyone has a COOL day!

Sandy

It's raining it's raining yipeeeee

BUT on a downside i had to end the pet rabbits life today after it went lame, poor thing couldnt move it's self along at all and it's legs didnt work so i had to end it all for the poor thing. Telling the kids was pretty tough and they were really upset, i said she just went to sleep and that was that.

And just after we burried the rabbit the cat jumped over the fence into our garden with a baby bird in it's mouth right in front of the kids, bad timing on the cats part

Can't shelter the kids from the facts of life forever, death being a fact of life. It's not really so bad that things die, it's that death is so final. And cats do eat birds, kinda the "big fish eat little fish" thing.

Finally caught up with reading all the back posts. Some day I will learn to at least, READ this thread and keep up with the news.

Cory: I had to look up your wife's problem to see what kind of op she had. I hope she is feeling better by now and will soon recover.

Chris: DANG fellow! I am sure sorry to learn of you and your wife's problem. That is always some nasty crap to go through and family/so-called friends have a tendency to make it worse. Hang in there and hold your head high and then which ever way it works out, you will be able to rebound with a good life ahead.

Got to get back to my depot cleanup. Man, every time I do major projects, I have a lot of cleaning to do (you think that I would learn to clean up as I went along :o:rolleyes: )

I type all my web addresses in the Google bar first, then select the correct place. That way, if I type in something wrong, all I get is a bunch of strange links, instead of popups and other trash I don't want to see.

Hey, guys!

My son is back home thank God! He's not to happy with his mom right now, poor kid. No news yet if or when she(wife) comming home or not. Thanks all for the prayers they are much needed!

Yay! Score one for the home team!

Chris, the first wife did much the same thing. Come to find out she was screwing around. I lost the custody battle for the daughter. But, I guess I won in the end, just got to figger out what I won. She took almost everything except my Corvette that I owned before we got married and my Blazer(my trains also came with me). She got the house, her car, and everything else. But, I didn't have to pay for anything that had a balance that I didn't get. And she did have to pay me 1/2 of the equity in the house.

Sounds as if you FIL is a scum bag, and a nib$h!t, PO'd cuz he passed along his bad genes.

But it sounds as if your assistant for the summer is back.....good deal.

Good evening everyone.

Glad to hear your son is back Chris. Just try not to put him in the crossfire if all hell should break lose between you and the Mrs.

Thanks for the well wishes Rex , Sandy, and anyone else who wished well!:) Gina is on the mend, but we have an up hill battle. It sounds like she will require a major surgery to unstick everything. Then our only hope of having a kid is in vitro fertilization due to the scarring. I'm not sure where to come up with 15 to 20 thousand dollars for that! We'll figure out something. Either that or we'll adopt.

Progress continues on my super tree forests. Man are they super! These things are a far cry from my first attempt last layout using sedum. I already ordered another box of trees knowing that the first will not be enough. My in laws were amazed at the process of boiling, hanging, dipping, hanging, painting, hanging, flocking, planting! They can't believe the amount of time I've put into this layout. I did get a comment of "wow, they look so real!" That was enough to keep me going for a while. Like I said before, they think I'm a modeling God. They obviously have never seen anything on these forums! They don't know any better.:D

I have tomorrow off so hopefully I can continue on my rapid modeling pace for awhile. I tend to move quickly for a few weeks, then nothing for a few.

Have a great evening everyone!

Corey: I know somewhat of what you and your wife are going thru. My oldest Daughter Valerie had the same problem but 13,000 later we do have Colton our blue eyed red headed grandson. He is worth twice that much if not more and he sure loves Chocolate bunnies.

Well guys thanks for the advise. I got some bad news the unemployment benifits are underfire in this state and are fixing to get the ax soon http://www.myfoxtampabay.com/dpp/ne...usands-will-lose-unemployment-benefits-062810 !:mad: I thank God for the Lawn service but it's still nowhere I need it to be. I'm scrambling like a million others in this state to try to find something to cover Ryan and myself. Almost every job out there right now are down sizing and full time jobs are a rare thing. I applyed for several jobs this weekend and I hoping that something pops up soon:( I know God is going to prevail and I'll rise from the ashes, but the wait is killing me.

The sad thing is My old job and the County I live in is going to lay more people of in october! these poor slobs might not get unemployment if it gets axed!:( Well I got to get ready to mow some yards, Keep praying for me guys and gal! We're going to need it.

I'm just saying... It'd be a pretty long commute, though...

Good morning folks

It was 74 F and still humid as I headed out this morning. Our high will be 89 F

It was a wild weekend. The kids had an End of the School Year Party on Saturday. We rented an inflatable water slide. They had about 10 friends over for water slide and pizza. A good time was had by all.

Sunday my son met with his Merit Badge Counselor and they did their first round of exercise for the Personal Fitness Merit Badge. They did sit-ups, pull-ups, and push-ups. They also ran a mile. I am not sure if it was funny or just plain sad to watch him, a twelve year old who has not played football for two years and no organized sport for one, show up a group of 15 and 16 year olds. My son was the only boy out of eight who could do a pull-up (He did six)! On the mile run he did a time of 10:22. This was the first time he has done any long distance running in about a year. He came in second as one boy finished with just under 10 minutes. I know my son took it “easy” because he was concerned about the heat (94 F) and the fact that he has not run in such a long time.

Yesterday was a Monday in all its terror. I woke up late. I had problems with the computer backing up some files overnight that meant I had to babysit the computer until it was finished before I left for work. I was just about to get on the Blue Route (I-476) and I heard a ding. It was the low fuel indicator. Of course traffic was moving slow on the Blue Route for no apparent reason which had me wondering if I would make it to a gas station. I get to the gas station and pull up to the only available pump and find out the card reader is out of order so now I have to get in line for another pump. I finally make it to work and find crisis after crisis all day long. I get home and find out our long hair cat bit my wife. He strongly objected to being groomed by her.

I never did get any train time in.

Chris, glad to hear about your son and we're hoping things work out with your wife and employment situation.

I hope everybody has a good day.

He looks so serious with that chocolate!:) I told my wife that we wasted 150 grand trying to open a clothing store, we can find the money for a baby. Why can't anything be easy?

Anyone got any suggestions for a first deer gun? NY just passed a law allowing me to hunt at 14 and 15 for big game under adult supervision. Ive got an 30-06 and a 12guage but the youngest of the two is from 1927. Theyre both considered safe to fire but at this point they can be wall hangers . Im pretty much looking for 30-06, .243. Maybe a .270. Im not wild about a 30-30 but im open for suggestions. Im going to try and keep the price under 500, but id consider maybe up to about 650 . Make and model would be helpful instead of just the caliber.

I need to find a muzzleloader too but ive pretty much already got that one picked out. CVA has some nice ones, my dad and several of his hunting buddies have them. If youve got any suggestions though id love to here them. Again, make and model rather than just caliber would be very helpful.

Bob- ive heard youve got quite the arsenal, hopefully youve got some suggestions :D
