That just seems to confirm that I grew up in the stone age. To today's kids the toys I had when I was a kid seem prehistoric by today's standards. Would you believe that most young mechanics these days have absolutely no idea what breaker points are or how they work? Shoot, even my father's new lawn tractor has all electronic ignition while the old Peerless tractor I use still uses magnetos and breaker points to fire the spark plugs. Does that make me akin to a cave man? Geico? Geico? Come out so I can smash you. BTW, all my vehicles are insured by State Farm. I don't trust that friggin' lizard!

Hey, I hear that! I've had the same State Farm agent since 1983. I'm a former insurance salesman myself (car insurance and life insurance) so he and I get along quite well, and he's right in town so I can drop in and talk to him almost anytime. Yes, there are companies out there that offer the same coverage for less but I like having an agent that I know I can deal with face to face instead of some stranger in a phone bank in India or China with an accent so thick that I can slice off hunks of it with a knife. Those heavy accents play hell with my hearing problems and I usually feel like I'm light a few hundred brain cells after trying to talk to them.

What the he......? We're being invaded by furrinners and you guys speak the language... Just who am I supposed to shoot? Hell, shoot 'em all and let God sort 'em out..............

If'n you don't speak English, you gotta be the enemy. <press 1 for English is BS in my book>

Awww c'mon boB. I speak English, a little German(3 years in HS) and a scoch of Klingon. My son Speaks English, German, Russian and Chinese and is signed up for Arabic next semester. So far the only person who really wants to shoot us is the ex-wife. She really gets PO'ed when we have conversations in German in front of her. (She was a French major!):D

A side story on language:
My daughter(a grade school teacher 3rd) and her friend (A high school Spanish and French teacher) went to Chicago to do some shopping. That evening after a long day they stopped for supper and drinks at a favorite place. At the table behind them were two good looking men speaking in Spanish. They began discussing what they would like to do with Nicol and her friend. All the while Missy was translating to Nicol what they were saying. A little later the men tried to have conversation with them and Missy spoke to them in Spanish and asked if they meant what they said. They paid and left a little red faced.

Don't have to worry about me not being an American, Native American that is. I speak English with a bit of Cherokee here and there. I'm descended from a branch of the Cherokee tribe called Chickamauga (lower Cherokee). One of my ancestors was a warrior chief named Tsiyu Gansini which translates as 'He is dragging his canoe' known to whites as 'Dragging Canoe'. He lived from 1738 to 1792. Another ancestor, from the other side of the family, came over on the Mayflower. It was ancestors of mine (the Reno brothers - aka the Reno gang) who carried out the first three peacetime train robberies in the US, the first being done just outside Seymour Indiana. You could say they taught Jesse James how to rob trains. Yeah, I'm a good old American citizen. A product of an inter-racial marriage when you get down to it. My father's ancestral line came from England (mix of English, Irish, French, Welsh, Scot and German) and my mother's ancestral line is mostly Native American with a little English and French thrown in for variety.

Ite, Loque vu Eurish?

lraK, the Church thinks I'm a heathen. A big reason Angela and I aren't married. The Church won't allow us to gt married there. Been married and divorced twice. I would have been better killing the ex's off according to the church.

Bob

Afternoon, evryone, from hot, sunny, and sweaty Mexico.

We leave tomorrow, and I'll be glad to get home. Even though it looks like it's almost as hot there, at least I'll be able to send messages from an air conditioned house and not from an open air lobby.

Bob, I'm Catholic and Dianna is divorced, so we couldn't get married in the Church either. Her ex was abusvie and ran around on her constantly. I'm satisfied this meets the the Bible's criteria for a lawful divorce. Dianna grew up in the church of Christ, and we got married there. I'm more worried about following God's rules than ones made up by men in the Catholic Church. I'll find out who's right soon enough. :)

Terry...Eurish? What the heck is that? I thought I've heard of most of the world's languages but that's a new one on me.

Karl, I took Spanish, Latin, and Neanderthal when I was in high school. :D My Spanish is enough to get me by in any Spanish speaking county. I really thought latin was a waste of time when I took it, but you'd surprised how many of our words have a Latin base, especially in medicine. Knowing some Latin helps me puzzle out the meaning of some words I haven't seen before.

Screen48, that's a great story. I've had the same experience down here with taxi drivers making coments about my wife. There's a phrase in Spanish I won't post here, since it's a family forum, but it gets the point across that I understood what he was saying and it would be wise to shut up in the future.

Matt, you got some really good advice abut the car issue. I'm not surprised that you got the good advice, but I'm surprised you actually took it. I wish my boys had a head on their shoulders like you when they were 14.

Here's a language to guess at: Ljubim model železnice

Looks like the internet is aboout to take a dive again so I'd better finish up. Hope everything is going as well as can be expected for those of you I missed.
