Finally finished with the boxcar. The car is an AHM/Roco offering (AHM 5241 series) closely resembling the Bachmann and Lionel-HO offerings of the early 1970's. It had truck mounted large box coupler housings that were similar to Lionel-HO. These were extremely easy to remove. I also removed the roofwalk and the plastic wheels. I body mounted Kadee coupler boxes and installed knuckle couplers. The wheels were replaced with Bachmann Silver Series metal wheels and the car body was sprayed with Valspar frosting spray to kill the gloss.

Good morning all,
It's a nice day here in Coarsegold with clear Sunny sky's and a temp of about 55*. I think the Cold wet weather is over.

Hello Sweetheart, how are you, love your outfit! I'll have one of your large Flapjacks and some coffee to start off, thanks. Don't stay away so long, ok?

Well last night I figured it was time to change the white look of the rock work along the embankment so I washed over everything with a light coat of Drift Stain and then after a bit went back and used some light tan stain to change the color to a few of the individual stones. I think the effect looks much more natural now.

A Picture will follow.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Greetings! Nice to see all are as cold as me. This winter is by far, colder than we have had in T-town for a long time.

I have had a very good weekend starting with a Thursday visit at Carey's in B'ham and seeing his expertly designed layout that is progressing well. A couple of features that standout is his spline road bed and perfect hand laid track and turnouts (he even cut his own ties out of lumber). Man, he is going to have some operating fun on that monster. (Good work Carey!) He and I ventured over to the LHS and we lucked out and ran across several members of the Wrecking Crew (B'ham MR club). Sure was good to see those guys again.

Yesterday, was a day at my place with a nice visit from Grandeman, Little Grandeman (who ain't little no more), and a friend. Eric was kind enough to take time and give me some photo tips to start experimenting with, while Trey and Joe ran some trains. Joe is starting to design a layout, so we had a 'questions and answers' session that should help him work out some areas in his design. All of it was a fun time that I really enjoyed.

Needless to say, today I will be busy doing NOTHING! Well, maybe continue my work on a SunCoast Models derrick crane :o:D

Stay warm and take care!:)

The Genesis kit engines had some pretty complicated things to assemble, and the ditch lights are one of them. If they are the hardwired bulbs, you will need to thread the wires through the holes in the mounting areas, through the pilot (at least the two I did were like that), up into the body, and over the mechanism to the circuit board. There should be a pair of little plastic clips to hold the wires on the board. Take your time, and be careful, the stuff is kind of fragile.
BTW, my LHS has a couple of BB C44-9W's, one in SP, the other in BNSF. He's selling them for their last MSRP, which was $59.95, if you're interested.
I did my BNSF SD 75i a couple of years ago, and found it very fiddley to do, wiring in the bulbs to the circuit board is also fiddley. I had to replace three of the four bulbs this year, so I got to do it all again !!

Well, figured id give alittle update on my SD75s. I managed to get the first ones ditchlights all wired and working right, now its the handrails that are giving me headaches. As for the other one, i started to put the ditch lights in and broke one of the wires off one of the bulbs, i walked away and probably wont be back into it until early this week.

Karl- What color LEDs did you use on that GP? Did you use Sunny White or Golden White?

Ok, here's the stained rock work embankment and completed wood retaining wall at the Copper & Iron Works siding. The stacked stone rock work are from interlocking stacked stone molds I made for building purposes.

Also, I've been holding off on putting any dirt down or ballast until I determine what the overall hillsides are going to look like and the coloration that would have been most predominate in the area.

As a side note: In case your wondering about the brown band on the background that is due to the shadow cast by roadbed table work behind and above the brick building.

Honestly I dont remember Matt, I think they were the golden white. Here's a tip. If you ever get a "blue" white LED, a small drop of Tamaya clear orange on the LED with adjust the color to a more golder white.

Good Morning guys!

Just a morning rant before I head off to work! I still haven't found a secondary Night Shift Job yet. What night shift jobs I do find are either to far away or there's 300 other people I'm competing with for that job. As for Big box stores and Fast Food? You would think it would be a snap to get one of those jobs?:confused: I'm starting to get frustrated... I don't need much of a part time job, just 25 hours a week 5pm to when ever @ $7.25 an hour. My God I just don't understand it????????? O'well got to go.....CUL;)

Good morning. It's 49° and cloudy. The high should be 56° and there's a 60% chance of rain.

Have an appointment with the foot doc this morning. Otherwise no plans. I will soon start on a project to turn this car:

Into a MoW dry goods storage car.

Karl Yeah,,, that place will do fine ;)

Today and last night i built the boys new layout benchwork, i used various bits of reclaimed timber plus an 80" x 33" door, two 80" x 12" bi fold doors and some 3/4" waterproof chipboard flooring, yes it's a rare old assortment of wood but with virtually no money for new stuff need's must. It's going to be fun making the trackwork, i have to use reclaimed Peco code 100 inc turnouts. I can't really make a detailed track plan due to the mix and match nature of the turnouts so i have a basic idea that everything will have to be made to fit (Jeff eat your heart out ;) ). The only thing i have bought so far is £18 worth of drywall and adhesive to cover up the brick wall.

i remember farting about feeding bulbs into my DASH 9 C44, what a pain that was, then i did some British outline models with headlights, that to was "fun"

Oh joy of Joys,,, the arctic cold winds are coming back this week :(

After my visit to to the foot doc I might spend the rest of the day getting a massage treatment.

I need one of those as well Jeff! Went to the Dr this AM and she wanted a chest x-ray to check on the broken ribs from 4 months ago. I am a notoriously slow healer and since I was still having some pain, she wanted to see what the state of the ribs were. She normally gets them done at her "next door neighbor" Dr's office but their machine decided to go on the fritz just as they were taking mine. Wound up going to a diagnostic center. Took another hour. Wound up taking almost 5 hours for a 30 minute test.

Thanx for the kind comments Rex. You saw a lot of track, but no scenery. That's for a reason. I want to make sure that all track functions well prior to really locking it in place with ballast and scenery. Plus I still have another level to go on trackwork, and I also want all track in place and debugged before scenery. Since I'll have one level above the other, I don't want to mess up any scenery below with the debri of construction from above.

You know that any member of the ARG is welcome to come look at my mess anytime. (mess is the rt word, too)
Anyway, anyone wanting to see what I got is more than welcome to come by. BYOB.

Well, gotta go. Gotta babysit the grandson today, and I'm really looking forward to it.

Good afternoon folks.

I'm battling a cold that has laid waste to what seems like a square mile of Kleenex! When I talk I sound like I'm plugging my nose. Oh well, they make drugs that can fix that, sort of.:)

I started painting a tan base coat on my sculptamold ditches and scenery edges for my small town. Well, I thought I should sprinkle some dirt on the base paint, since it was sticky and all. Then I added ground foam on top of that. You know that wouldn't stick without wet water and glue! All of a sudden it's a shot of green here, then a sprinkle of brown there and voila!, it's a scenery soup! I'm curious to see how it turns out when I get home. Had I planned on actually adding green stuff, I may have thought it out a little more! I wonder if that's how God made the world. A little of this, a little of that. Anyway, at least there isn't flat foam to look at anymore. Ya gotta love progress.

Work is going much better the last two days. It makes my life so much easier.

I hope everyone is doing well.
Have a good night.

I got this sot this morning at the Museum of West Louisiana. With the oversize pipes and the sound of the push rod clatter some people think there's a diesel engine in there. If you're wondering about the bumper sticker it says "THIS PROPERTY PROTECTED BY PITT BULL WITH AIDS!". It's been on there for years.

Speaking of diesel engines I did manage to get a shot of KCS #2822, a GP40-3 with SD40-3 #3138 coupled on ahead. The locomotives were busy with a switching job at the time. Even though it wasn't yet noon the heavily clouded sky made it look like evening as it was a break between thunder storms.

Good morning. It's partly cloudy and 25 here.
It was supposed to snow a lot today, but the forecast has been revised (again) to be cloudy and rain off and on today and tomorrow, with a little snow mixed in with it tomorrow. The DOT has already pre-salted the roads, so it'll be a salty mess driving home tonight.

It's cold and damp, and thats just my mood today ha ha, don't ya just love having a bad cold that lingers on. Bit of a quiet day at work today, the moaning old battleaxe didn't come in today (she is related to Coreys boss i think) she's put stupid stickers on all the light switches so we don't forget to turn them off (they never get left on BTW) Was just me and one other doing some restorative cleaning of some old oak wall paneling that dates to about 1725.
I think i may venture into the garage and have a tidy up, it looks like a tornado went through it :(
