What did you get for Christmas?

ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Online since 2002, it's one of the oldest and largest model railroad forums on the web. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.

I got a dash 8

I knew what I'd get, as I picked it, but the best part is actually getting it.

A CSX GE Dash 8-40 CW #7685, as the box shows it´s a model from Bachmann-Spectrum.
it's a pre-owned model (I explicitly didn't say used, as that wouldn't be true ;))

I'm planning on getting it's brother (the Dash 8-44CW) in scale G as well.
but not sure what railroad yet, may be CSX or Kanses City Southern, maybe Canadian national, but I can't afford it now so I have some time to think of that :D

I will be getting a decoder for it but not yet, as my layout can also be controlled analog so it can run.

also, little question for the "experts" here, how many cars would look nice with this?

Bought for myself for christmas
Athearn RTR SD40 in MPI paint---already stripped
Athearn RTR SD40-2 high nose NS---to be patched
Athearn RTR SD40-2 in LLPX paint---to be stripped

Wifey got me
Soundtraxx Tsunami 645 2nd gen sound decoder w/speaker

Mother/sisters supposedly got me
3 Soundtraxx Tsunami 645 2nd gen sound decoders w/speakers
1 Soundtraxx Tsunami 710 3rd gen sound

And I got me a $100 visa gift card that will be spent at the local hobby shop this coming week on who knows what or a new air compressor for the airbrush.

The only thing railroad related that I got was a Trains of Canada Calander. Buy I also got several DVDs, a new hoodie, and a digital video camera (for trainwatching of course!)

With my Christmas bonus from work I'm looking at getting a new badger airbrush.

My haul from Santa and My Other Half {MOH}:

Locos: DCC OnBoard Chessie GP 40 {I have wanted for a long time}; and a DCC OnBoard D&H GP38-2 {MOH and mine intials are "D" and "H" so we have begun collecting "D&H" stuff- which is nto easy as not a popular fallen flag...

RRCars: C&O and B&O BOx cars {B&O and C&O and CHessie and CSX are my nromal runs}; and A B&O Gondola; and a D&H Boxcar and D&H COvered hopper. I am sure there are mroe D&H stuff in my futer {if we can find it.}

So 2 locos and 5 Cars, good enough for me!

MOH {who is into trains also- N scale}- got:

Loco- Kato GG1 {wanted desparately since March and I bought it way back then before they were out}

RRCars: A wanted Santa Fe Overton set, and open air tourist passenger car {both thought to be "key-yute" [Cute]}; several freight cars....including-you guessed it- some D&H!!!, flats, tanker and such; and several {about 8} Pennsy passenger cars to haul behind the GG1! {the GG1 did also see freight service}- so about 25 RR cas in all; and a signal light; and a dozen winter trees for the under-the-table-top-tree-Snowy-christmas-scene-layout with both HO loop and N scale loop that MOH wants to creat-we are working on a new board for the layout now.Next year will be better.

Quite a haul for BOTH of us! from each other and santa claus.
{We also got some clothes}
Have a Merry Christmas!

We haven't opened gifts here yet but I bought myself a couple gifts within the last week on ebay. An Atls GP-7 and DPM's emery lane gold kit. They just haven't got here yet

Wasn't there a parody commercial on Family guy whose tag line was "Diamonds, She pretty much has to"

I like Ron White's: Diamonds...That'll shut her up!"

Well the wife got me three freight cars and my one son is pulling me into DCC with the Bachmann EZ Command set with the N&S GP50 and three decoders that didn't make it here yet. I guess I'll be asking how to wire these things. My older son gave me a B&D cordless drill I asked for. All in all not a bad year

Two rectangler pieces of paper with the number 50 in the corners.One from the best thing that ever happened to me (my wyf of 45 years :)) and one from my youngest son.

Port-o-johns. No really!
http://tinyurl.com/blmaportable

Also got two Accurail roofs I needed for a 60' boxcar (how come no one makes a readily available 60' boxcar roof?), a set of 10' doors from Accurail, and the Stewart semi-trailer airhoses.

Now, what off-set me this year is my income being cut in half, and well, a nice new SD70ACe I bought for myself...

Recently I decided to model another era. This automobile will be the first of my collection.
I wish Rico made more early 70's cars and some mid 50's cars. I think they are the best on the market for detail and realism.

A lump or Coal, and very busted up at that!

I purchased a cordless Dremel 10.8 volt with a Rechargeable Lithium Battery, 800/0, I also purchased a Dobson Miter-Rite, as I plan to do a fair amount of scratch building and some trestle work, a Large Selection of Windows & Doors manf by Gould, a large selectioin of Bass wood, Some track side details and a switchmans shanty to use as a pattern or others.
A large selection of wood sheets of scratch building, three different assortments of Floquil paint pens, along with some small vacuming attachments for the layout, so I guess
you could say I really indulged myself. Oh yea, I also paid for a series of 10 of Joe Fugates downloads but am having a problem as my land line connection isn't very fast and they give just a very limited time to download them.

Now you know why I got the crumbled coal.

In additon to my other railroad related stuff posted on page one, my amazing girlfriend got me a "Canton Area Railroads" book which answered alot of my questions about local railroad history and a picture of she and I on one of the W&LE locomotives in a steam engine picture frame :D Lastly she got me some PRR magnets for my locker.
