Good Morning:):)

We had our showers this morning and so we'll be having our 40% chance of showers today as well. We're seeing sticky 25C and a damp low of 14C---the humidity has been around 85% - 90% these past few days----

I got my 3 day weekend and so I'm going to see whether I'm going to be able to get some weathering done-----

Flo, is there raw caffeine in an IV bag I can use? Thanks----:D:D:D:D

Here are the pix of my latest and greatest project. The first is when we planted the new boxwoods and flowers 3 years ago. The last two are of the sidewalk and porch railing I finished yesterday. Still have some landscaping to do but today is an off day cause I am sore and tired and tired and sore. The railing was not that hard but tedious. On the small section to the left of the steps I installed and uninstalled it four time before I got it the way I wanted it and it had to be to work correctly.

Looks like your hard work turned out good there Larry.

I'm having a Sometimeslink tech come out here today to check out this frustrating problem we've been having. My internet signal is down more times than it's up and my parents are having the very same problem. This tells me that it's not an in-house equipment problem. Last night I checked all my equipment, cables and all, all the way out to the service pole next to my trailer. There were no loose or corroded connections and nothing I did made any difference whatsoever. Moreover, this morning my parent's modem showed itself to be online yet the connection error messages I was getting were telling me a completely different story. The tech I was talking to in Tyler checked the modem from his end and it showed up as being off. He couldn't get a signal from it. Now consider that I'm having the same exact problem with my setup and that screams that something is wrong upline somewhere.

Morning, everyone

Larry, that is some fine work on the house. For some reason, it looks much different and more attractive than the ordinary Indiana house. Maybe it's the porch and landscaping. If I was you, I think I'd be spending a few days on the floor exhausted. :)

Chris, I can imagine tensions are running high with people waiting to find out who's going to get the axe. You're taking the right approach. Just keep doing your work and let the future take care of itself. Most layoffs happen based on what the boss remembers about your last month's work. Getting into a fistfight is a good way to get moved to the top of the list as someone who needs to go. As far as the pills go, I don't think you want to turn into an interstate drug dealer. :) It just really galls me to have to beg a doctor for something for pain. When I was a paramedic, I had access to all kinds of narcotics and it would have been hard to track them if I wanted to steal them. If I could resist then, I don't think 15 wimpy pills are going to be a big problem for me today.

BOC, enjoy your three day weekend. I can't believe that northern jet stream still isn't migrating south. It looks like it should start to move next week but I've been saying that for a month so I guess that's why I'm not a professional weather guesser. :D

Jeffrey, I have constant problems with Charter cable internet. I get five minute outages at least seven or eight times a day. We always have an outage every day between midnight and 1 am. sometimes we get hours long outages for no apparent reason. Every time I call, I get some person in India who tells me everything on their end is fine and it must be my equipment. I have dozens of screenshots of my network analyzer that shows upstream traffic from my modem and no downstream from Charter and e-mailed them to their "tech support" people. I've had every connection from my modem and router to the street checked or replaced. I've filed complaints with the Alabama Public Service Commission, all of which were ignored. The net result is zero change and the same unreliable service. By golly, Charter filed bankruptcy last month. Ya' think there's any connection between crappy service and not making money?

Been redoing all the street areas around the new municipal building and today I have to do the landscaping. I haven't figured out how to do the lighting yet but it's kind of a dark corner so it needs something. I wish they made models of those sodium vapor floodlights so I could use them to light up the jail area. Maybe have a guy in stripes trying to make it over the fence with the dog hanging off his butt. Such evil thoughts. :D Sunny and hot again today with no sign of rain before at least Sunday evening, if then. From the looks of the corn fields, we can forget getting any fresh sweet corn at the farmers market. :(

That doesn't surprise me. I've heard some real horror stories about Charter. Sometimes I wonder if Suddenlink is gonna do the same thing. When I have a problem that keeps coming up time after time and they keep telling me it's because of my equipment I start mentioning lawsuits and lawyers fees. That gets a tech sent out quick! On almost every occasion the problem was due to THEIR equipment, not mine. In the one instance it was mine the problem was a bad splitter.

I've got ATT High Speed for the land service, and SATCOM, or whatever, for the boats. I can't be more pleased with either. You guys need to come out of the Fred Flintstone era. lol

Happy Friday afternoon everyone-

Haven't been motivated to type many posts here during the past week because of the usual stress factors and lack of time, but I have been lurking, so I sorta know what's been going on. Chris hang in there man, I know that's an unpleasant situation to be in - Jim gave gave you some good advice so I won't bother repeating it.

Jim, I remember reading an article in a med journal a few years ago about how the DEA started shifting its focus on regular MDs for over-prescribing pain killers. Seems they were considered a 'softer' target than the well-armed and highly dangerous drug dealers.

Tony - I still have another 13 yrs before I can hope to retire. If you can do it now, go for it!

Larry - great job on that sidewalk, wanna do my driveway? :D

Bob/Jeff - I've been with Verizon FiOS service for ~2 yrs now, and I'm quite satisfied with them. Not sure if they're available in the Gulf states though...

Phillip - glad your son isn't as bad off with that scoliosis as was originally believed. We'll keep prayin for him just the same.

BOC - hope you get lots of weathering done over your 3-day weekend. Stuff always seems to pop up unexpectedly for me whenever I make those kinda weekend plans. At least the rain gives an excuse to stay inside.

As for train-related activities, I just acquired a dozen new Walthers r-t-r CSX Bethgons and some Bowser 100-ton hopper kits. My current project is to assemble the hopper kits, then install some real Kaydee's on the Bethgons (those 6-paks only have working couplers on the end cars, the rest are dummies). This, plus my existing coal-car roster, will allow me to run a respectably long coal drag during the next FCSME layout exhibit.

Yall have a great weekend!

Maybe not the Fred Flintstone era. I know you guys better than that. But, maybe you could find your way out of the Al Gore era. Remember, he was the guy that invented the internet. lol

Oops, I hope that this is not taken as a political statement. Meant to be a shot at an idiot.(darn, scope.....I missed!!!)

Bob

Bob: I wouldn't mind having satellite internet service. Problem with it is that my voIP phone won't work on satellite.

Ken: FiOS isn't available here. I've heard great things about it and wouldn't mind having it but I draw the line at moving to another area to get it.

boB Go stand in the corner until you learn how to properly adjust that scope for optimum effectiveness!:rolleyes:;):D

Flo No coffee or alcohol for boB until he straightens up!

Phil, Great to hear the diagnosis for your son was not as bad as anticipated. Now breath will ya!!!

Ken Glad to see ya got out from under the rock you were under! I'm surprised you can get FIOS where you are. It seems its only available inside the Beltway or inside of outlying "towns". We inquired about it and the girl at Verizon almost laughed! No matter, my Comcast has been flawless and deadly fast, except for the time the kid lost control driving down our street at 110 mph and hit the cable box. The cables were cut off flush with the ground, but it was still repaired in about 5 hours!

Larry Nice Job!!!! Wanna help me with a few projects?

Awesome coolness has taken place. After 3 days of visiting the other stores, I finally got to my new office Thursday, and as I left work, I found my office is only 2 blocks from M.B.Klein (legendary Baltimore train shop, since relocated) . 45-60 days from now, my office will be moving to a whole new facility, but is still only a few blocks up the road. Now I know where I can spend a few lunch hours!!!:D

Ken.......GOOD MAN! Thanks! (I knew I liked you!

Karl.......I'm breathin'. I just don't want any more strikes against him in life, ya know? He's a great kid, with probably more fortitude then I have even now, and he's just a kid.

KEN NO I do not want todo your driveway. I have just finished my LAST concrete job period. I said the same thing last time I did concrete work but I was 45 yrs old a t the time. Now I am 61 and I mean it
