Good Noon hour---

Seeing as how I got on now---we're kinda dull dull dull right now. Got our 30% shower dumped on us and so now we're seeing a 70% shower showing up:eek::rolleyes:

I'm going to spend some time in the basement doing some shoegazing:cool:---I may get to put the layout down here after all----heeheehee:):)

MJ has certainly captured the medias attention and they're playing it for what it is worth---advertising revenue. That and the weirdness of MJ which can only get weirder. If the drug--Diprivan IV-- is out in someone's hands outside of a hospital doesn't that mark it as a street drug then? Was this doctor getting paid by MJ's handlers? AACCH!! Such is a weird life that even in death does the weird live on:mad:

I was at Pizza Hut yesterday waiting on an order. Sirius Satellite radio was playing over the speakers. Seemed like every 3rd or 4th song was a MJ song. Yick! I almost lost my appetite!

Warning, "SOAP BOX RANT!"

JMO, but I think American people put way to much stock in the entertainment community and get way to involved and wraped up in these freaks and sick-o's lives! Also JMO But we would be better off if 95% of these entertainment freaks fell off the face of the earth or died!JMO I know it's harsh but it's the TRUTH....:) Now, the good Entertainment (5% if that!) folk who do pass away never get the attention for their living a Normal God fearing life! More People need to discover Model Railroading and live in their Train rooms living NORMAL LIVES like us;):D:p! I'm climbing off my soap box now.......
:)

Morning, everyone.

Tony, glad to hear that the wedding went OK and you've recovered. It does take a bit to recover from those big family events.

Jeffrey, smart move to check all the angles on that kit before you started to assemble it. I found out about the bad bevels after I already had glue on the joints.

Tom, sorry to hear you're caught in the budget nightmare. I have several friends from my old department in California that start getting paid with IOU's for their next paycheck. Bank of America said they will honor the IOU's until July 10 and then California is on its own. The state budget deficits will be the next big crisis that we'll have to print more money to solve.

BOC, we have a 100% chance of sun and heat today. The last rain more than a shower was June 10th and, with this continuous heat, things are getting serious. Less wind today, which should keep the fires down. Even the kudzu is starting to die and nothing kills that stuff.

As far as MJ and the family's plea for privacy, they'd get a lot more of it without daily, sometimes hourly, press conferences with the Rev. Al, Rev. Jesse, and Joe Jackson, who seems to spend most of his time apparently intoxicated and engaged in incoherent rambling. Diprivan will never be a street drug because it will kill you in heartbeat without the proper monitoring. Heroin is like taking asprin by comparison. I suspect that MJ was very much like Elvis in his last days, mixing so many drugs together that a death by overdose was inevitable. The shallowness of some of his fans is amazing. I heard one guy say that he first heard the news in Times Square and would always remember where he was when he heard..."just like when Kennedy was assassinated." Totally bizarre that a guy who's main trademarks were walking funny and grabbing his crotch can be made into this mythic hero figure in death.

Wow "Genius" (Chris), that says a lot!:D

Enjoying my day of rest even though I'm sore and stiff. Jim, you are right about getting too old for this sh**. I was talking to the neighbor about how frustrating it is to remember how easy it was to do something, but when we try it now, how tiring and difficult it has become.:(

BOC/JIM my understanding is the MJ live-in Doctor does not have a valid license to practice. Another shame of all this is the backseat news that Farah Fawcett's courage for survival and Karl Maldon's outstanding achievements has had to take.

Jim: I was just basing my temps from B'ham's Ch.42 weather. They have weather stations around the state, including Clanton, and your temps were quite extreme to those readings. Sorry, I'm not doubting you...just confused. They need a weather monitor site in your area...that would blow their minds. I am also a good judge of weather by simply going outside: too hot, too cold, ahhhh---JUST RIGHT!:D

Wanna know how close I was on the corners? I checked it with my corner square after I assembled the walls and they're dead on.

Audrey took up bow huntin'-----cain't come here either!!:eek:

Good morning from Ye Olde London Towne. Its finally cooling off a bit. Only 25c today.

Rex: the strange thing about weather reporting is just how much temp can vary by just a couple of miles. It really depends on the local conditions. For example the temps I quote come from a station based at the ITV studios. Perfect you'd think, but not always accurate as they are located next to the river. In hot weather their recordings are around 6c (11f) cooler than what most radio stations report. The majority of the stations are in the West End, only a mile away but farther from the cooling effects of the river. I guess that's why they call it weather. George Carlin once reflected on how stupid weather was as they always gave the temp at the airport. " I don't know anybody that lives at the airport".

Jim: I hear you about the MJ thing. It seems to have become a global idiocy event. Ever since Princess Di, everybody seems to just go stupid when someone even mildly famous dies. We had a plastic celeb here called Jade Goody. The papers used to vilify her as a useless racist pig faced bitch. As soon as she got sick with cancer the collective guilt of society through the media did a 180 turn and all of a sudden she was like Mother Theresa. What a bunch of hypocrites.

Same with mj. He's been a 'kiddy fiddler', 'Whacko Jacko', 'freak', 'fruitcake', 'unfit parent', 'shadow of his former self', 'washed up', etc etc in the media for the past several years. Now all of a sudden he is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Give me a break. Its all down to media hypocrisy in order to sell more papers or increase ratings.

Chris: a perfect rant.

Take care all and have a great weekend.

"Hey, look I found my soap box again!"

MJ had what was due to him JMO! now I felt bad when that Infomercial guy Billy Mayes died! Now he seemed like a nice guy and a great looking (Normal??) family and such. Also he seemd to live a almost normal Joe six pack life a rags to riches thing...........You here squat about him!

It seem's the more sick and twisted a celeb's life gets the bigger the fan base get?!?!?!?!? Man that says a lot about Us as a country! I mean holy crap, now you got Obama now jumping on the MJ theme train and riding it around too! Now If a Joe six pack goes mental they lock him up and throw away the key 100% of the time (If they catch him).......But If a Celeb. goes mental they throw a camera in his face and try to figure out what happened and try to down play the sick twisted mess of a life they live! Remember OJ?!?!?!

JMO The Media/Hollywood Creates these FREAK'S and we Pay to keep them up (Sex, Drug, and loose morals) roaming the streets! Look Faucet Dies and has her ex lovers carring her casket down the street?!?!?!? And when Even the Presedent of the United States is Up holding a freak (MJ) as if the freak (MJ) was a God...........We're losing our moral way's me think's more and more everyday........ I got's to stop..........Got to wrap my head in Duct Tap brain bout to explode............Good God I need a morning BEER!

"Let me burn my soap box before I get's in trouble!"

Hello

We got more 30% showers pouring on our head :mad: Better yet the 30% showers are NOW slotted to continue dumping on us through the weekend into the beginning of next week!! And the temperatures? How does 17C for a high sound? In JULY???:eek:

If I had a dollar for every dang time I heard MJ being discussed I'd be rather wealthy----the problem with him is the same as with other celebrities. We live in a culture that thrives on the CULT OF CELEBRITY. The media LIVE off of the trash and there are people who will buy this trash--but I'd better not---I'd rather NOT GO THERE!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:----who left this soap box here?

What I'd rather go to is my FLHS and get more code55 track--seems I missed a spur ----:D:D:D:D:D

Have a good one people!!! And stay out of MJ soap boxes!!!:eek::eek:

Good morning folks.

I feel like I'm working on Christmas eve today. Most people I know have the day off and have NO plans of buying ANY men's clothing! Oh well, I too will be at the lake in twenty four hours!

I'm progressing on the building of my ADM grain elevator. The walls went together last night, so I'm getting a better idea of how big this section is. I'm building this mill one section at a time in order of importance to me. First up has been an elevator and silos. If there's room , I'll need to add two or three very large silos at the end of the row of six. These extra silos no longer exist, but they did in 1950. I may have to use pvc pipe to get the proper diameter. We'll see how much room I have in the end. It is certainly fun to be building a kit again. There are almost instant results compared to the building of my trestle.

I hope you all have a nice day. I'm going to go stand around in a suit for nine hours while we figure out why nobody is shopping when it's eighty, party cloudy, and low humidity!

Hi fellows! Ready for some lunch?
Just got back from buying another 2 gallons of wood stain. Yup, I misfigured the size and the thirst of older wood. So, yesterday's break is over and time to get back at it...at least I will be under the roof and not in the sun this time.;)

Had a friend over last night and ran some trains. Man, that sure felt good; it had been near a month since running and a couple of weeks since doing anything else in the Depot. Surprisingly, everything worked smooth.

OK you guys, where did you put the soap box. Dang it! I had something to "B" about....hmmm, now I forgot what it was. Oh well, I will feel better by keeping my pie hole shut:D

Andy: come on over an celebrate our Independence day... that is if you don't hold any old grudges.LOL:D:D

Corey: your layout work sounds like you are really moving on and having a ball. Even though business is slow, enjoy the A/C of your clothing shop...you could be out on a roof or laying concrete......or painting :D.

Karl: Don't worry, the next party stop is at BOC's place where it is cooler and he even gets rain. We need to encourage him to take a vacation (don't you think he looks awfully worn down?).

Chris: If I rode on those crazy theme park rides, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between my inside and the outside. I used to love them and feared not, but that was back when I was just shy of your age.

Enough of the yadda, yadda. Time to pick up a paint brush.

Went out this morning and got a new AC unit. The old was acting weird yesterday and the motor is getting a bit flaky. It was 104 outside and was near 90 inside. The unit was set to cool and was blowing warm air. The old ones a 10,000 Btu and the new one is a 12,000 Btu. It's a more energy efficient model so the power cost won't be all that different. A 10,000 will cool around 200 square feet while a 12,000 will cool 350 square feet. One of my neighbors will help me put it in later today. Picking it up isn't too much of a problem but lifting it up to a window 6 feet off the ground is a bit too much for me. Once it's in the window I can do the rest of the work myself.

Hey All...

I am working all alone today. Have the whole building to myself. Kind of creepy sometimes. but with the 'gentrification' of the neighborhood in recent years, the area is pretty decent. I am listening to old time radio as I work...love that Phillip Marlow :)

Jeffrey...I hope that new A/C cools your place for you. We have a swamp cooler and so far it is doing a great job. We haven't hit 100 yet and this weekend is supposed to stay in the low 80's. Should be a great 4th!

Got an offer yesterday that would take me to San Antonio. Almost too good to turn down but I just don't know if I want to leave Colorado. I do love it here. Big decision :o

Jim...I did hear that Colorado is the leanest state ;) Guess all that walking is paying off. I live in a town that is without the Nepalese cuisine. Kind of a steak and 'taters town. But Boulder IS just up the road. I have to go there tomorrow afternoon to see a client. It is lovely, but absolutely nuts.

I hope you all have a safe, cool and fun 4th of July. What an amazing country we live in. May be a few things wrong right now, but we've survived worse! After all, it is the greatest country on 'God's Green Earth"! HAPPY 4th!

Sandy

It's 100 here with an index of 106 at the moment. I expect it to be higher than that tomorrow. We found out in the early 70's that swamp coolers don't work real good here. My old AC unit still works but after the tricks it pulled yesterday I'm not trusting it. I'll take it down to my parents place and stow it in their shop building for now. The new unit with the caulk needed to install it blew a $400 hole in my Lowe's card. The handyman across the street from me here helped me set it in the window. He didn't charge me anything for his help. He knows I don't have much.
