Afternoon, everyone.

Bob, oh, yeah, about that supercharger. :o Thing is, Dan was going about 70 when he went into that canal and I think it kind tore up that supercharger a little. We got it out of the water OK but I think it has a little mud in in it. We crated it up and sent it your way so that should give you a kitbashing project for the summer. :D

Chris, that was my impression of the cheeseburgers at Jimmy Buffet's place too. Expensive and they didn't taste as good as they looked. Now, the Fondue House in Destin is another matter. It'll cost you about $80 each but their food was unbelievable. That was about the only place we ate down there where I didn't feel ripped off afterwards.

Jeffrey, I'm glad you at least got a few showers. If it was any drier here, the weeds would be pulling themselves up and hunting for water. I can believe how hot is since it's just as hot here. I sure wish we could get the fire department or the street department to do some culvert cleaning here. We have spots that always flood (assuming it ever rains again) and it's because the culverts are blocked. I hope the poking and prodding session went OK.

BOC, the high is just starting to retrograde west today. You've got a ton of thunderstorms in your area now but I still think this will be the last general rain for at least a week. The weather guessers are overestimating the amount of rain for next week. Scattered showers should be about all you'll get although it will seem like a lot of rain if you're under one. Let's just say the chances of rain in any one place will be decreasing instead of increasing.

Corey, I get bogged down when I do too much planning. Unless it's something really major, it can always be fixed later if you don't like it but at least you did something. If you wait until you have the perfect plan, you'll be dead before you accomplish anything. We used to occasionally do that kind of things with brides at the florist shop. "Flowers, what flowers?" It was good revenge for a customer who drove us nuts for weeks.

We have some baby storms that are actually a little closer to us today so there's a slight chance we may get a few drops. It's sure helped lower the temperatures. The high was only 101 and it's down all the way to 97 with the clouds tright now. I think this is the least hot (coolest is the wrong word) it's been at this time of the day in two weeks. Hope springs eternal. :D

Flushing out culverts is one of the more routine things we do when we have time for it. Another is filling pools. They filled my parents pool within a day and it's between 35-40 thousand gallons. That's a lot of water! The poking and prodding session went well. The foot doc likes what he sees. The wounds are healing slowly but they are healing.

Don't get me wrong, the burgers at (Jimmy's) are good but not the best;) Now the margaretas they were Awsome:D I had two of them and one landshark lager to chase everything down. i was feeling no pain after it all:rolleyes::rolleyes: When it comes to going out to get burgers I like Ruby Tuesdays or Chili's....But I like mine the best though, BBB's rule!:D

Hello--

Got those t'underin' boomers today---2 of 'em in fact. Both had marble sized hail, lotsa lightnin' and thunder and Monsoonal downpours. I got around our neighbourhood 3 houses that took direct ground discharges, Several flooded streets and one tree behind us split right down the middle.

jbaakko The cars do look like they're going fast standing still!:):) What would be in those chargers anyhooo?

Jeff Good report from him---keep it up!

Jim Planning can be a bit of a trap---what is that phrase---"Paralysis by Analysis---"

Most of the Police Chargers have Hemi's under their hoods. Theses ain't the Hemi's of the 70's but still very very quick. One of the local Police Depts. have the big bumpers on the front(like an off road 4 wheeler might have) to shove offenders aside if the try any thing funny. Also they have of those Charger looking Station Wagons, do not know what they are called.

They are called "Magnums". They were popular for a while, until everybody realized those "crossover SUVs" were really station wagons. I think they quit making them last year. Our local PD still uses Crown Vics, though the PD in the city where I work has a pair of Chargers.

Evening, everyone.

Josh, the Charger is one of three the CHP uses for things like fairs and recruitment events. They won't be changing the traditional black and white scheme any time soon, especially with the California budget crisis. I really can't understand why the Charger has become so popular as a police car. They can go fast but that's about it. Once you install all the communications and computer equipment in the front, you really can't get anyone in the passenger seat. Trying to jam a prisoner into the back seat is like trying to put a fighting cat into a pet taxi two sizes too small. :) On top of that, just wait until they start breaking down and you're dependent on the "new" Chrysler for service. I'll take a Crown Vic any day.

Larry, those big things in the front are called push bumpers. They were originally installed so we could push stalled cars out of the way without damaging the patrol car. They are lot more beefy now because they are also used to PIT (Pursuit Intevention Technique) a fleeing vehicle, where we hit one corner of the car and try to spin it to stop a pursuit. It's kind of fun if you do it right. :D

Jeffrey, glad to hear both visits went well. Sounds like dropping a few pounds would sure help though.

Chris, I sure wish I could still drink because those margaritias did look pretty good. :( My burger was overdone, the bun was stale, and the french fries were greasy and cold. Not worth $12, that's for sure.

BOC, those storms looked pretty nasty on radar this afternoon, Looks like the next bunch out over the Plains is starting to take a more southerly track, which should dry you out and help us get at least the chance of some rain by Sunday. Those old Chargers were great cars. Vanishing Point is one of my favorite movies of all time. Kind of a cult classic but there are some great car chase scenes as well as a lot of underlying themes in a complex plot.

All our baby storms dried up and blew away. It's a little cooler at 78 right now but the humidity is also down, which doesn't bode well for rain tomorrow. Rats! My lawn looks like a giant dog came over and took a pee all over it. I did get Dianna's computer set up and running after figuring out what the rats nest of wires all went too. I bundled them together this time and labeled them because I have the feeling she'll want to remodel things in a few days. :rolleyes. Maybe I'll actually get time to work on the layout tomorrow...except she came home with two big pictures that I'll have to hang on walls somewhere. That's always about a two hour selection process.

Heck, I'm still stuck with Impalas...

Jim, not sure, but this CHP car that I saw had someone stopped on the side of the freeway!

Remember the old Chevy Biscayne police cars? Those were some swift automobiles. Not much on looks, but you couldn't out run 'em.

Bob

Good morning from Ye Olde London Towne. Its a cloudy 26c today with threats of a major downpour just in time for the commute home tonight.

Jeffery: good to hear about your cholesterol levels and that your foot is slowly healing.

Jim: police cars here are a total mishmash. Local cops get crappy little things like Vectras or even Corsas, which make sense for getting through heavy traffic as they can fit on the sidewalks if needed. They are generally white or silver with a reflective orange band along the side. Nicknamed 'jam sandwiches' for obvious reasons. Trouble is during an arrest they have to wait for a meat wagon to transport the prisoner. Out of the city its either a Landrover or hopped up BMW. The beemers have their limiters removed so they can go faster than the 'chipped' 250km/h (155mph) European enforced max that the production models can do.

Chris: you can't blame me for any of the damage. I couldn't get a flight. I was all ready to treat your fish to some Absinthe in the aquarium. :D

On the modeling front, I've finally managed to find the last 2 SD40-2s I needed for the 2 layout helper pairs. They've had sound added and are in line at the paint shop for some weathering. The Summit 'Jack in the Box' kit has the shell finished and the first 2 coats of paint applied. 3rd coat tonight, then mask off the walls to paint the entrance ways. The next Summit kit (Taco Bell) has the walls up and I should get it sprayed next week sometime. Phew, I'm actually getting something accomplished. Tomorrow is 'ArdenRail', http://www.ardenrail.co.uk/ which is the NMRA British Region public exhibition. I have a feeling that a wallet fire is imminent.:D

Take care all and have a great weekend.

I hear ya. Actually I've dropped quite a bit. Some of the medication I was on was causing me to retain a lot of water and I was having problems with swelling of the hands, feet and ankles as well as the lower legs. I stopped taking that medicine and I dropped 10 pounds in the first week. Since then I've gone from 298 to 267.

Good morning shop dwellers,

They were going to turn the Internet back on yesteday afternoon, except that somebody discovered some "new material" that made it necessary to do yet another scan of all the PC's! Obviously this means I won't be posting on here (or even reading) until after 6:30pm. Then I need to pack up some trains to bring with me to run on the FCSME layout at this weekend's train show in Timonium. Hope I can find enough boxes and foam rubber.

Jim - looks like that forcefield is pushing the rain clouds away from your place again. I think you'll get some rain on the same day they reopen the internet where I work.

Chris - the black one on the right is exactly the way I remember the classic chargers - man were they ever purty! The one on the left is a 1970 Chevelle. The '69s were much better looking IMHO, I would've killed to own a SS 396!

GOOD MORNING! Let the torture begin!:D

First pic's are some sweets found in one of many candy shops at Universal Studios! I was proud of myself I resisted the sweets! although my sweet tooth was crying up a river:rolleyes:! Good thing you can't smell the smells of that shop!:p

Now let's go to Emrils chopi shop!

My dinner was some kinda salad that was just awsome and yellow fin tuna steak with shittocky mushrooms and potatos in this unbelieveable sauce....:p

Good morning.

It's 73 and sunny. Today is supposed to be a sizzler with the high around 100.

I have no intention of setting foot outside today for anything resembling work after 9 am. One thing I do intend to get done is to fix a vacuum line that gone blown off the intake manifold of my cars engine yesterday. It apparently needs a new clamp. Now that I have the doc visits taken care of for a couple of weeks maybe I can get some peace and quiet for a little while. That might be asking a bit much though. Yesterday I bought 8 sheets of sky blue poster paper to use in making a new backdrop. That's enough for the west wall and a small part of the north wall. I also need to clean the homemade fiberglass filter in the AC. It works so much better than the chincy little thin plastic and fiber filter that came with the unit. All I have to do is pull the filter out, vacuum it and put it back in. Takes about 5 minutes.
