Hiya gang, just had an ultraviolent T-storm pass thru here. There's debris all over my yard.

Got it here too Ken , couple of small twigs is all thats on the ground now, but during the storm we had enough pea sized hail to make the blacktop driveway look like somebody dumped a load of gravel out there!

Well, made it to WV and back. Got the plane fixed, it went a lot faster and smoother then I thought it would. Working on the road is not as much fun as it used to be when I was younger.:D But it was nice to get out of the shop for half a day...

Jim; I've been working on privately owned general aviation planes for the past thirty years. An occasional light turbo-prop or a corporate jet pops in once in awhile, but for th most part it just little piston singles and light twins. Some of my customers use them for business and some for just a hobby, then there are those that use the planes for both. Back in my Navy days I worked on F-14's, now that was one cool aircraft!:D

As for railroad pictures, the first tracks I passed I thought, "man, I forgot my camera!" I actually did not see very many trains, a lot of tracks, but only seven empty 3 bay hoppers sitting on some tracks were the only trains I saw???

Ken; Hang in there man, you and I both can catch up to Larry if we try:D

I did get a chance today to finally pick up some extruded foam. I am going to attempt to make a mountain or at least a nice size hill. Just got done cutting out the shape and then glued the pieces together with liquid nails. Should be ready to carve on tomorrow. I'll take pictures so you guys can see one goofy looking mountain:eek:

Well, I think I might find something else to work on train wise while my foam pieces are drying. Talk to you guys later...

Believe it or not, our homeowner's association president, Ricky, not only mows his own lawn drunk but drives around the neighborhood on the riding mower visiting while still drunk. There have been times I've reached for my cuffs only to remember I don't do that kind of stuff any longer. Luckily, hardly anyone ever drives in our neighborhood and they all know to watch out for Ricky. :D

Ken and Karl, you guys have been getting a pretty good line of storms up there. Glad you didn't have more damage. Looks like the worst is past for you guys but Virginina is getting beat up pretty good.

Karl, in this economy, I would take any job that was available. It's a lot easier to look for another job when you have one than be unemployed.

Larry, congrats on making it to 50. My parents were married 56 years when my mom died. She told everyone she got married when she was 12. :)

Ken, good answer. People always want to make their crisis your emergency. You can run yourself to death if you don't draw a line in the sand.

Dan, don't you worry about Chris or any of the other mean guys here. I'll protect you as long as you take responsibility for any tractor damage.

Tony, sounds like a neat job. Too bad you didn't see any trains. Anywhere in Ohio or West Virginia is usually crawling with them. Can you believe all the F-14's are now just scrap metal? Always seemed odd that they all got scrapped and we have F-15's of the same vintage still flying.

Well, the Supreme Court just ruled that Chrysler's sale to Fiat can through and screw the secured bondholders. The Supremes were my last hope that we had some vestige of constitutional law left. I just hope the the bonds of companies I've invested in make it until maturity date and don't have to get any government bailouts or I'll be out a ton of money. Never thought I'd live to see this kind of thing happening. :( No rain to worry about here again, just sunny and hot. If we're lucky, we might get something by Friday.

Jim: I have mixed feelings about the sale of Chrysler to Fiat. One hand feels bad for the bondholders, but the other is kind of glad that it isn't becoming another branch of Government Motors.

Time to find a Fiat logo to put on my plymouth!

So, my godmother's two adopted daughters are moving in with us for 6 months. They were here last year for a month, but my godmother is getting deployed to Afghanistan. They will be here in 2 weeks. I have that long to clean my room out and figure out where I will be moving into. Good thing I still get the train room (even though I don't really have trains in there :( )

There are the "Better dead than Red" people, that would seem to prefer a Rock Island-style shutdown and liquidation of GM and Chrysler, and there are the "Can't be allowed to fail" people, a' la Conrail.
As an auto service/R&D guy, I don't want the "competition" of several thousand qualified auto techs trying to find a job at the same time as I am looking. I don't pretend to know what's best for the country (or the world) as a whole, I just want to be able to find a real job that can pay my bills and feed my family.
So, my current opinion is motivated by selfish self-preservation, and I'm sure y'all know what I would prefer. If I had a few million, or even a few hundred thousand in the bank, I might think differently.
There's no easy solution, somebody is going to lose. I just hope that with the current policies, the majority at least break even.

This story is getting very odd. Now with Fiat being the de facto owner there is going to be some huge changes---one of which will be a massive retooling of Chrysler into an egg car manufactory. The largest vehicle they have appears to be that dang 500 thing:eek::eek::mad::mad::mad: Largest engines? maybe a 4 cylinder which will strain at 60hp. Top end? 50mph. OY:eek::mad:

If one of those pulls out in front of my 3/4 ton truck, the sun will set on their empire immediately, if not sooner.
From what I have seen of them, if I had to bet on the crash victor, between a fiat 500 and my wife's 97 Geo,,,,,,I'll take the Geo!

Look's like the Fed is trying to be more genrious with your money! They are trying to pass a bill to give you $$$$ to get out of your Gas hog and buy a new GMC car that get better than 20mpg! This is to help the GMC sell cars! This just P me off:mad: I want some of my money back so when I have my trucks engine over hauled I can have It hot rodded up sum!:D

Do ya thinks that Fiat thing can pull a 16' tandum axle trailer loaded down with 2000lbs of equipment on it:confused:

I thinks that the Fed will be Controling what we buy car wise is a round the corner!

FED = Puppet Master

Chris, I read in the newspaper where the only person that will be able to buy a pickup or a truck to haul heavy loads will be business people.
They said in the paper this morning that when the Govt. pays you the incentive to turn in that gas hog that the old clunker will be crushed or shredded. Can't beleive that!! Someone will figure out how to ship all of those to some foreign country & make billions.
They will be taking them & hiding them in a shipping container for future sales. Can you imagine a used car dealer getting rid of a 2009 Caddie Escalade for shredding, don't think so.

Chris With the way things are going you'd probs need a special license just to keep the dang truck!!:mad: That is one weird proposal though. I'm wondering if that is going to fly---especially now that FIAT owns Chrysler. Little electric egg cars here we come-----:confused:

And we're not talking the electric drag cars that are capable of 7-8 second runs on the 1/4 mile either---:(:(

----------------------------------------

Hello--

We're at 10C going to a high of 22C with yet another chance for some more showers----hopefully not of the monsoon sort. I really don't want to start looking for a pontoon bridge just to go out the front door----:eek::rolleyes:

Anyway, it's off to see a coupla new clients this afternoon and finish off the fiddlework at the office--

Have a good one--:D

I smell a constitutional battle heating up here! And truck owners (like myself) will get the backing of the NRA and others. After all, you can't put a gun rack in the back glass of a Fiat, but you can with a pickup!!!!

Oh, and yes, I will empty out my gunrack if somebody tries to take my truck away from me!

Good morning folks.

I haven't gone through the last six days so I hope all is well for you guys.

I still feel like I got hit by a Fiat this morning(sorry,no more Mack trucks)!:) I didn't even party that much in Vegas. Not once did I feel tired until I got home on Monday. Now I need a vacation just to get caught up on sleep.

The vacation certainly had it's ups and downs, but it was nice for the most part. I spent almost as much money as I had predicted. Since we don't gamble much and my wife doesn't drink, Vegas doesn't get much out of us. We will certainly NOT be having family dinner with her family on Sunday though. I need a much deserved break from family.

I hope to start playing with trains sometime next week if I'm lucky. I still need to connect the track leading to the trestle. I just haven't felt like fitting and soldering yet. Maybe Sunday or Tuesday I will get it done.

I hope you folks have a great day.

It was down right ridiculous! My sister in law did in fact remove her bikini and swing it over her head. Only problem is that is was the least good looking of the three sisters. I made a big show of averting my eyes. If it had been the other sister I would not have even tried to look away! The graduate's friends were down right hot. They were turning heads in Vegas! It made me proud to know that they were from Minnesota .I was glad to have sun glasses most of the week!

Good morning folks

It has been a crazy day so far. One crisis after another since I walked in the door. I finally have a few moments to catch my breath.

My daughter’s softball game was called off last night. We had a few rumbles of thunder and it got dark but no rain or lightning. They could have gotten the game in. She had an exciting day anyhow. She got picked for the softball all-star team. At her awards assembly at school she got awards for Distinguished Honors for Four Quarters, Straight A’s for Four Quarters, and the Science Award.

Today is the kids last day of school.

I thought it would be an easy night but I just found out that the church our Cub Scouts meet at had some flooding to the rooms we use for our den meetings. I have to go over there and see if any of our supplies were damaged.

I hope everybody has a good day.
