Phillip, while agree with the Biblical admonition, this is not really a religious issue. It's an issue of do we live in a safe society, where the murderers are permanently prevented from doing any further harm, or do we descend into anarchy? If the government won't to its job of protecting the innocent, the days of the wild west will return again.

And thats kinda where I was going with that, but you put it so much better then I did! I was mearly noting that as our government steps away from it's roots we seem to be losing our way as to what IS justice, how SHOULD it be done, and do we have a RIGHT to do it. Sorry, I didn't mean to go all political and religious all in one, now 2, posts.

Evening gang!
Flo, tonight I feel like a cherry-choca-mocha shake and slice of lemon merangue pie please.
Ken, Moose had the Power Pax in stock, no ordering required!:) Between a Power pax and Decoder Pro, you can get into all kinds of stuff! You can even program info like purchase date, cost, or even the wife's birthday into the Tsunami's! And please tell Vicki congratulations, for putting up with you for 23 years!
Larry, want to come over an tend to our garden too? And remember, Grandkids are a great excuse to play trains! :) I know, I do it every time they come over....the gathering gets boring and I tell the little guys I got something to show them in the basement,,zoom! They're down there in a flash! :D The worst part is their father comes down with them, much to the DIL's chagrin!
Jeffrey, Glad to here Mom is getting better. Something makes me feel a little sorry for the nurses though.
Chris. Going on vacation? Need any of us to er, a, house-sit your place??:p
We did a little fishing at some of the local spots today. Good day, everybody caught some, nobody got skunked! Mostly crappie and bluegill, but the wife did manage to score a small bass! All catch and release, the only thing we all brought home was some sunburn! Came home mid afternoon, hooked up some street lights on the module, caught the last 50 laps of the Nascar race. Cooked a steak on the grill afterwards, took the youngster back to his Mothers house, stopped by the old folks place and visited with my parents. All in all, a good day! :)

Corey, avert your eyes and head for the casino. You can oogle the cocktail waitresses while you play the machines. Much safer. :)

Larry, sounds like you have a great garden. I really enjoyed gardening in California but it's almost too hot and humid to grow much here and it's a lot of work. Tomatoes and squash seem like they are the only two plants that don't come down with some kind of fungus or insect infestation. We get rid of our two week dog babysitting job tomorrow. I never thought four cats would look so good by comparison. They never did cotton up to the dog so there was a lot of hissing and snarling going on.

Phillip, I think people will soon start to get the message about what the role of the government is in a well ordered society. I don't think I've ever seen as many fed-up people as I have lately.

Ken, forgot to wish you and Vicki a Happy Anninversary. I hope you had a good dinner and an even better time afterwards. :D

Karl, I'm still waiting on grandkids so I have someone to play trains with. Daughters just aren't any fun in that department. Good thought about Chris too. I wonder where he's going on vacation and for how long? Sounds like payback time to me.

Nice clear, warm night with a temperature of 74. We have lots of lightning bugs this year, I guess because of the wet spring. It seems to me, when I was a kid in Ohio, that lightning bugs all had yellow lights. Down here, we have the yellow ones and some that are almost blue and look more like an LED than a regular lightning bug flash. Don't know what the deal is with that. The body recovery count in the Air France crash is now up to 17. Sounds like a lot of people had time to put on life jackets to me. The mystery deepens.

I'm only going to be out of the house fer 2 days. I know better than to leave my house vacant for to long with you guys around!;) And when I do leave were just going to Universals resort in orlando and staying two nights in Royal Pacific Resort!

Chris: When did you say your house will be open...I mean to say...when are your leaving for vacation?

Hmmmmmmmm, Thats the funny thing I forgot the dates I'm not going to be in the house..... Hmmmm, now what day was it again? Most of my vacation will be spent working around the house!:(

Thank you everybody for the anniversary well-wishes!

We went to our favorite Italian restaurant chain: Carrabba's. But I sure paid for it earlier in the day though - spent the afternoon preparing and removing the winter tarp from our above-ground swimming pool. First I had to run something similar to a bilge pump to get rid of most of the rain water that had accumulated, then get the rest of it with the Shop Vac. At least we got the cover off without any debris getting into the swimming water.

Chris, hope you have fun on your vacation, we can hardly wait!;)

Karl - yeah I guess I oughta check with Glen to see if he's got that booster thing. I'll also be needing a specially-wired serial cable to go between my old 'putor and the command station so I can start using Decoderpro.

Good morning folks

It is a sticky 67 F this morning. Humidity is at 91% already. High will be 84 F with the possibility of thunderstorms later in the day.

I have another late start thanks to my son. Today is his Market Day which is a fifth grade flea market. I have to take him to school and drop him off with his wares.

We went to the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia to see the Gecko Exhibit on Saturday. Sunday we did work around the house. I set-up the gazebo in the back yard and got all the furniture out for it.

Tonight will be a busy one. We have my daughter’s flute lesson and my son has his last Boy Scout Troop meeting for the summer.

I actually think I may have some modeling time this week.

Happy Anniversary Ken and Vicki!

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good morning.

It's 68 and partly cloudy. The high will be in the low 90's and it will be partly cloudy.

Today seems to be starting out as one of my bad days. I get them once in a while. One side of my body seems like it's half asleep with bouts of pain, almost like fire. Must have dislodged one of the discs in my neck again. Only time will correct it. I'll see if I can get a little work done on the layout today. I don't think I'll be up to any wiring work though. I also have to pick out which 4 cars will be replaced by the 4 new hoppers. There are entirely too many box cars.

Good Morning----

We're getting some more rain today with a few t'undering boomers thrown in for good measure. Going to a high of 22C. Right now, we are at 14C.

Happy belated Anniversary, Ken and Vicki!!:D:D:D

I got a couple of clients to see this afternoon and some fiddlework for the office here this morning:rolleyes:-----maybe after work I'll squish some MRR'ing in in the evening:):):)--

Have a good day people----:D:D:D

Ken, How old is the computer, are the wires attached with small stones??? :D:rolleyes:
I'm using a regular serial data cable that I got from RadioShack to connect the NCE to the puter. Heck, and this computer just turned 10 years old!!!
Yeah, I know that Compaqs have a little too much proprietary parts in em, but look how long it has lasted! Sure beats the HP that preceded it (died at the age of 3) and the Dell that was 5 years old and recently cremated! I almost died when HP bought Compaq a few years ago. The product went straight down the tubes after that!

Karl, it's a 5yr-old Dell. It has a 9-pin serial port on the back, as the NCE does. I'm just remembering the Days of Yore when, as part of my job of installing new computer systems in small businesses, I often had to rig up a special cable to make their serial printers talk with the new 'putor. Every printer had its own pin-out diagram in their manual, which was not always correct, and I often spent hours getting those <expletive> things to work. NEVER plug-n-play like today's USB technology...

And then to get the ---------- things to talk to each other---

Sometimes even going by the manuals wasn't going to work either. Or stringing all the dang cable hither and yon only to find out that even the building plans were not matching the office plans:eek::confused:

Afternoon, everyone.

Chris, two days is long enough for us to make a visit to your area. Just to check things out, you understand, we wouldn't do anything to the house or your layout. I think you gave away the date in a previous post. Will you be taking the dogs? If not, do they have a favorite meat? Just asking for information. :)

Ken, we've got a Carrabas down here too. I don't know if it's part of the same chain but they sure do have good Italian food. The girls are always after me about why we don't have a swimming pool. It's stories like yous that remind me why I don't have one. Just taking care of patio furniture is too big a chore for me. If you've got a serial port on you computer, you should just need a gender changer to hook up the two cables. I well remember the days of trying to get more than one serial port device to work on a computer. Thank goodness for the invention of USB! :D

Jeffrey, you've got more medical problems than a Merck Manual. :( I hope your neck heals up. Time to relax a little today.

Karl, I've grown to hate HP and Dell. I've had computers from both and they died premature deaths for thing like inadequate cooling. Anything to save a buck. The only thing I buy now is Toshiba. They cost a little more but they are built like tanks. I'm running an eight year old Toshiba laptop now and it has never given me a minute of trouble. We had Toshiba Toughbooks as the MDC in our patrol cars and they took an amazing amount of punishment and rarely failed. I was trying to help a neighbor get his new Acer laptop running correctly yesterday. Now that ia a real piece of crap. Didn't they buy E-Machines? Yuck!

BOC, the rain seems to be about never ending up there. Looks like a pretty good pack of storms headed your way on radar right now.

No rain to worry about here. It's 97 degrees with a dewpoint of 67, so the heat index is about 101. Pretty steamy but the air is very stable so there's not much chance of any thunder getting going today. Maybe Thursday. I think I may have some time to put in a decoder or two today as soon as we get rid of the devil dog and assuming Dianna doesn't come with something that just has to be done right now! I don't know wives always have things that have to be done right now but everything we want to do can always wait until later.

"something that just has to be done right now! I don't know wives always have things that have to be done right now but everything we want to do can always wait until later"
That is a woman's nature me thinks it is inbred into them at conception. Glendia is not that way usually but when she is just go ahead and do what she wants when she wants it and keep quiet. Zipped lips are the best policy maybe that is why she has kept me around for 37years and me her. I could not ask for a better half than the one I gots.

Ken. The diagram is on page 72 of the PHP manual....."You can use a Male 9 pin D connected to a female 9 pin D with ribbon cable, OR use a 9 pin D extension cable"
It all in the book dude! :D

I HATE DELL too!

When it come to Honey Do's.... Just do the deed and take what few moment you do get to yourself and use them wisely!
