Afternoon, everyone.
Jeffrey, I just ordered a new laptop to replace my old clunker since I've finally run out of space on my my 40 Gb hard drive and my 512 Mb of RAM won't hardly open two things at once now. It's got that HDMI thing too although I have no earthly idea what it means or why I need it. All I know is it's got 4 gig's of RAM and 340 Mb hard drive so that should last me about...oh...maybe a year before I fill it up.

My only concern is that it comes with 64 bit Vista. I'm hoping they've worked out most of the compatibility issues by now. I hope your mom continues to improve and comes home on schedule.
Tom, I just had to replace the tires on my daughter's 2002 Pontiac Grand Am. Unfortunately, it has 50 series 16 inch tires. The BF Goodrich cheapies cost $700. They wanted $890 for Michelin's.

Sounds like your daughter and her team must have played their hearts out. It's hard to be on a team which never wins but it sounds like she's giving it her best shot.
Larry, the summer weather pattern is that the rain follows the weak jet stream. Right now, it's firmly planted over you guys. Until we get a bend in the jet stream, you'll continue to get rain while we get nothing. This is the third year in a row that this pattern has persisted. It has nothing to do with "climate change", just part of the normal oscillation in the jet stream. It can quit any time it wants to now.
BOC, you out to at least get a rowboat for some exercise as long as you have your lake.

I don't think your lake is going to dry up any time soon. I've watched that video several times and I have no idea how that guy controls that full auto Street Sweeper as easily as he appears to do. As part of our yearly range qualification, we had to fire seven rounds from our Remington 870 pump shotguns in ten seconds and have at least a 75% hit ratio on the target. Maybe I'm just a wimp but my shoulder hurt for a week afterwards. Rock salt in shotgun shells it actually very ineffective. The mass is so low that it won't even penetrate normal clothing at 20 yards. The shotgun wad will cause more damage than the rock salt. I think this is another one of those urban legends.
Corey, it always takes a week to recover from a weekend in Vegas.

As far as your wife being unemployed, enjoy the time you have with her now. There may come a time in your life when you wish you could recapture every minute.
Larry C., your idea of when to fix things and mine match. When it falls off, I'll fix it. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten the wife to agree on this concept yet.
I had kind a weird incident yesterday. Some guy in a silver Dodger Charger station wagon pulled up in front of my neighbor's house. There were no markings on the vehicle and it had a revolving amber light on the roof. The guy looked like a classic thug, muscle shirt and covered in tats. He spent about five minutes going all around the neighbor's house, looking in windows and checking out the garage. I thought he was up to no good so I walked over and asked if he needed help. He said he was looking for the telephone drop because he was a line locater. I asked him why he had to check out the whole house when the telephone drop was clearly mounted on the wall next to the garage. I also asked him if he had any ID to prove who he was. Of course, I got the more colorful language version of "I don't have to show you no stinkin' badges". I told him, no, you don't have to show me your ID, but I showed him mine and told him we could settle the issue now or the local police could settle it. That bought forth another torrent of colorful language. At this point, I started reaching for my non-existent handcuffs before my rational brain took over and realized I wasn't a cop any longer. I just walked on home and called the cops. Turns out the guy was legit although he had three warrants out of Texas, none of which they would extradite on. I'm sure this guy is using his day job to case houses to come back and burglarize later. I kind of doubt he'll be back in our neighborhood though.

I was proud of myself. I really wanted put a nice choke hold on him but better judgment prevailed.
It's steam bath city again here. 98 degrees with a dewpoint of 69, giving us a heat index of 103. Even with all this humidity and unstable air, nothing at all on the radar. Rats! Oh well, time to go out in the garage and have a cigarette before the FDA makes them illegal.
