Man, great weekend already! Darn me & having to work.

Here's the fun of my weekend... USAF F117.

LOL. Here's a shot from earlier this week to make you feel right at home Josh! :D

Since I just can't leave this post on an aviation note (I get enough of that during each week;) ), here's a shot of the 1913 L&N depot in Cullman, Al from last night.

My new project this last week has been this retaining put in for erosion control. It took the better part of two days to complete.

First measuring the area to see how long and how high the wall should be, then cutting the pieces to fit. Had to do that outside. Cutting plaster makes a lot of gypsum dust, not to mention a mess. Then setting the pieces and gluing them in place. After they were dry I put in the fill which is just finely sifted sand. Gave that a good soaking with alcohol followed by a 50/50 glue/water mix and topped with WS green blended turf.

Nice looking F-15 there, Grande Man. Just the right look of menace to it. :) I'll have to get up to Cullman and check out that depot some day. You should see the former GM&O depot in Prattville - disgraceful condition.

Jeffrey, I like that retaining wall. I'm building a range of small hills behind the residential areas as a view block and I might try the retaining wall idea to give it a better look.

Josh, I'd love to spend the weekend with those F-117's. That Harrier's not bad either. How many of the F-117's do we still have flying? It seems to me we only built 25 or something like that.
Heck if I know. There's two here for the air show, both hidden. I guess they had an engine failure this morning, and they think it was our fuel.

You know, for the number of them I've seen, you really don't realize how BIG they are until they're along side F/A18's, which I fuel day & and day out.

Here's a nice shot. Turned out just a little out of focus, but I was on 3 shot shutter and 5x zoom, 10.3MP trying to pull it off. I cropped 75% of the shot out. The original is also attached (resized obviously).

Here we go John this is how the abutments turned out after polyfilla, sanding, and very watered down black emulsion paint wash

Paul, that's one of the reasons I moved out fo Cleveland when I was 21. :) Never saw another snowstorm again once I got to California. We'll probably have a blizzard now that I'm down here.

Nice start on that culvert, Jeff. I've got a stream that's just crossed by a not very good looking timber culvert now and have a Chooch culvert that I keep putting off cutting up so it will fit. I guess I'll have to get to work on it now.

Steve, nice looking tunnel and that SP tunnel motor looks good. I remember how many SP units always had that white looking underside from running through the desert.

John, that prototype photo of the bridge is a classic lime leakage type of weathering that you see in poured concrete structures although it usually take about 20 years or more to develop. What look are you going for in your bridge?

Josh, I don't think it was your fuel. The F-117's have had very low combat availability due to lots of engine problems, apparently related to how they route the exhaust gasses to reduce the IR signature. I've been to two other air shows where the F-117 appearance was cancelled due to "engine problems".

C'mon, there must be more of you with pics this fine weekend. I'll add a couple so you can see how low the standards are set. :)

This is a GM&O train passing over the First Ave. Crossing. The boys have the street all dug up looking for a busted water main and are making quite a mess.

Here's something I'm working on in my spare time. It's an all paper structure (with the exception of the base).I found the link to the plans on another forum and printed one out and decided to cut it out and build it. I still have to put on some details and install the roof. This is what I have so far.

I hope to have it completed by tomorrow night.

Jeffrey! You're supposed to put thin cardboard between the wall sections, like the material that Athearn boxes (the brown bottom portion) are made of! That looks much too wobbly.

i'm a little weary about posting this (if it even works) comming from the other site, i know its a little fuzzy and the CA fogged up the windows, but this was my first attempt to build and weather a structure in over ten years. it was just a N scale cheapie. it was a good learning experiance, such as dont set the structure on its base untill the CA dries, Testors water based acrilyic paint is horible, modeling at the kitchen table doesnt work out to well, the wife thinks its a stupid waste of time and money, ect

That ain't a bad looking structure you got there. I think if you somehow "covered up" the windows and painted it some nice colors you would have a sweet structure.

Looks good to me. If I see an old building that all clean windows I wonder 'What's wrong with this picture'.

I got the roof on my little paper structure and took a shot to see how it looks on the layout.

On the contrary, it's quite stiff. It's made from three layers of cardstock with the interior walls and the signs made from air mail paper.

smoke, i was very limited on the paint colors i had (the basic set from walmart). and on top of that all they had were the water based which i didnt really care for. but i had this itch to build something and that was it! thanks

I wonder why buildings like those were built with squarish fronts when the backs were sloping roofs!!! can't understand the reason.
