I have a A-B-A set of F7's that are currently standard DC. I want convert one of the units to DCC/Sound using a Tsunami and the rest will be DCC only. The problem I am running into is I do not know enough about lighting and what Tsunami board to buy. The Intermountain F7's have LED's for lights, one for each numberboard and one for each of the double headlights (4 total).

I think I should either get the AT1000 or the GN1000. I would like to avoid using resistors as I am not that great at soldering. I can manage the connections to the board but beyond that is a challenge. Will the 1.5v lighting outputs on the GN1000 work with the LEDs without issue or do I need to use resistors. Or should I look at the AT1000 board? I am pretty confused and would appreciate any help.

You will need resistors with the Tsunamis. Tsunamis have a 14 volt output, and a 1.5 volt output. LEDs require around 3.5 volts depending on color.

Thanks for the reply. Would it be better to use a AT1000 then over a GN1000 board? What would happen if I put 1.5v to an LED - would it not work or just be dim?

I wish that someone made a board that would work with the intermountain plugs they provide....

They will not light. Bulbs run on voltage. LEDs run on current. The brightness of bulbs is dependent on voltage. The brightness of LEDs is dependent on current.

To be honest, I've never used the BW1000 and I can't seem to find a schematic for the pads so I can't tell you whether it will work or not.

It appears to be the GN board with some different surface mount components.
