tooters scooters...

Okay, here's some shots of the wee beast, hope it shows what you need to know...
1st pic is the bottom with the Bachman truck in place.
2nd pic shows the cavity without.
3rd pic shows where the corner was hacked out for clearance.
4th pic shows that corner from inside the cab, also shows how I added the needed weight for pulling cars, not shown is the 1/4 oz sticky weight on the cab ceiling.

Sorry Tooter, didn't mean to hijack your thread!

Thanks Rico. Can you show me the powered truck? Was the truck modified to fit?

Also, what kind of coupler pockets are those? I will be putting in a pair of #5s or similar (maybe a pair of 148s or even #147s if the mount is tight) since the prototype has full sized couplers.

Hey, no problem, Rico... :)

I'm interested in seeing how you did your little critter, too!

By the way... do you still have the three little black Grandt Line gears that connected the wheels together that you aren't using? I lost one of mine, and would be happy to pay you for taking the time to send me one of them.

Eric the power truck was sanded smooth, that's about it. The couplers are HOn3 or something like that, they were recomended in the instructions. #5's may be a tight fit.
Greg I'll take a peek for the gears, it's been many years since this was done.

Just got a passenger car for the little steamer... :)

...but I still need to figure out how to put kadees on it, as it lacks coupler pockets.

When you get a chance, can you take a few photos of the powered truck? Jerome and I are stumped as to how you got it to fit.

Be sure to measure it first! If it's still too low even if you use the underset shank Kadees, then you may need to modify the car.

If the underset shank kadees work, then you will need the 47s or the 147s. The 47s are discontinued and I haven't been able to find the 147s on ebay or in hobby stores, so you may have a few problems with that.

If you can't find any undersets I have a few, just let me know.

Hey Larry, :)

Thanks for the offer, man.
I'll dig through my Kadee box to see what I have and let you know. There's also a reach issue beyond the buffers so I still need to figure out which length will work best.

Take Care,

Greg

It's an Era I. I really like the old time rolling stock with spoked wheels. Haven't decided what kind of load to put on it yet.

Just for now it'll be another scooter... ;)

Chained crates are a good idea, Gary... or maybe even a log skidder. :)
