John,

Thank you again. The decals (believe it or not) came with the kit. It looks as though all of the kits I currently have come with the decals OR, these are older kits and pre-"were not providing decals anymore" era.

The Rail Side of Town

Morning All,

Here is how the town will look from the track side of the layout. I am fairly certain that this is where the buildings (shown) will ultimately stay. Note the "alley" running between the far right hand building and the one to the left of it. My intention here is to have a cobble stoned pedestrian "mall".

Re designing the Town Layout like this means I will need another couple of buildings ... will it ever end!

Is that an Athearn ethanol tanker on the right Tony? Looks just like my new ones that have developed a whitish powdery "bloom" on them.

That 'wash' you discovered by 'accident' would give those buildings the layer of 'age' that would blend them and look 'real' It added that 'worn' feel that buildings get over time. I'm still VERY impressed with the way it worked out on that building you showed.

No sure who made it but it is a very nice Tanker. It is one I have had for a couple of years. The "whitish powdery" looking stuff on it is plaster dust, I just haven't done a lot of "car cleaning" :)

The picture is only to give you guys the idea of how the Town Area will look when completed. I still need to complete all of the buildings that are in the picture so "ageing" them will happen. Putting the "wash" over the decals to give them a more faded look will be done ;)

Morning All,

One more building virtually completed:

Have to complete the small details that go around the building and place the roof as well as a little weathering. I kinda like this building for where it will sit on the layout.

Reminds me of that oft repeated "joke" by Danny DeVito in the movie "War of the Roses". What is a 1000 lawyers at the bottom of the Ocean?

Toot'n,

Okay, I'll bite - what is a 1000 lawyers at the bottom of the ocean? Aside from a benefit to humankind :)

Kinda reminds me of a joke I heard some where ...

A high class Lawyer gets on a plane from New York to Los Angeles. As he boards he hands an Air Hostess a package telling her that the package contains very expensive crabs and should anything happen to them he would sue her for everything. During the course of the flight, the lawyer kept pestering the hostess about his package, getting the hostess more than a little annoyed with him and his arrogant attitude. Finally the plane landed in Los Angeles and as it was taxing to the gate the Air Hostess announced over the PA system - "would the Lawyer in seat 2B and who gave me the Crabs please see me before alighting".

Just goes to show, lawyers aren't as smart as they think they are :D

That is some real nice work Tony. Saw it on my phone last night but wanted to see larger photos. Excellent.

Speaking of lawyers, what is it that a duck CAN'T do, a goose can do and a lawyer SHOULD do?

Toot'n,

You got that right, even if it is a joke!

Anyway, I have been working on the last building posted, finishing the detail work as well as the area this building will sit on the layout. Pictures to follow.

Getting back to LASM's question about the wiring for a sec, I am starting to re do the accessories wiring (which is a real mess) and trying to eliminate some of it in terms of every light being on it's own toggle switch. That has turned out to be a pain in the rectum and a lot of over kill, even though (to me) it sounded good when I first did it.
