Whose idea was it to use cork for underlay

I seem to have lost a few pieces from my rather expensive crossover. Both should match, but don't.

Contacted the seller, he's sending me replacements.

Getting there slowly, the buildings are simply place holders, not quite sure what I use here.

My first card kit from Metcalf, it says it can make an island platform 5' long and 3' wide. I'll settle for about 2' long and 3" wide, to be honest.

Been a while since I updated this thread.

The pieces I needed to replace on the crossover arrived and are now fitted.

Also bought a Metcalf Station Platform

The AC/DC (Band) Locomotive I pre-ordered and forgot to cancel also arrived.

I was going to send it back, but honestly it's way too much fun, so I'm keeping it now.

Despite buying all new Peco track and Electrofrog Points, it seems the points are not as reliable as I was led to believe. I had three points like this after a few days of testing.

After several hours getting the springs back in place, I added a small mod so they flipping stay there now.

It appears that if the tie bar moves, it causes the spring to lose tension and come out of the groove it sits in, the mod keeps the tie bar level so tension remains on the spring.

A Peco turntable I was gifted from a member on another forum.
This is partially weathered so far.

Looking much better now.

Started thinking about adding some scenery, my first attempt using rubber moulds and Sculptamould.

You'd be out of your mind to send that beautiful steamer back😱

Glad to see an update! That’s a beautiful locomotive and should be a lot of fun to operate.
Been so busy with work and other projects that so far, I haven't even run it in yet, never mind adding it to JMRI. Which I need to do, for some reason sound is on F2 which on my system is non latching so I have swap it to something else. ( or keep my finger on the key)

Yeah, same here. My layout went untouched for a while.

Hopefully you can figure it out! I’m still working on understanding programming and all that so I can’t be much help unfortunately.

I should be able to, just switched all my sound files on a Hornby HST around, also made them function regardless of direction of travel so I get all the Horns sounding in stereo, not prototypical, but I like it. 😀

But Marklin/Trix decoders are something new for me, if I get it wrong, CV8 will be a lifesaver.

Finally, after a lot of words were spoken that no child should hear. I got a train to run on the new layout.
The gentleman in the Video is John, who came and paid a visit to help me cure a short-circuit that for the life of me I couldn't find, It seems one of the 3-way frogs I have was an Electrofrog, I thought they were only code 75, apparently not.
But we did find a use for it, if only temporarily.

New Layout with John.mp4
Great video and it’s looking fantastic!

Great progress.........

I prefer straight track on a layout and nice smooth curves.
While the prototype may not be perfect, their equipment can handle the irregularities. Wavy and uneven track work on a model railroad can cause problems and those problem will aggravate you way passed the point of "but it is prototypical".

Take care....John

It will be straight, I'm adding point motors so the track isn't glued down yet, when it is, I'll straighten it.

So, onward and upward again.

Started wiring in all the turnout levers, and added some lighting.

These are not new buildings, I'm using the ones from the 60/40 layout, not because I'm cheap, but I simply haven't decided what I want and where I want it, plus I've got to build the things too. I simply can't abide a layout with nothing on it. All power is plug-in with long leads, so I don't have to rewire anything later on when I move or replace something.
