My friends, thank all of you for your kind words. Carolyn and I have had a good cry and now we have to adjust to our loss. Little Moe is still wondering where Rusty is, but he too will adjust.

I do apologize for dampening the high spirits of this thread and thank you for your understanding...I just needed to say something. Give me a little time and I will be back on top of things. ;)

The Best to you, REX

rex no need to appologise, it's what we are here for, we all know what you are going through, i had a Staffordshire bull terrior and i had to have him put to sleep, it was the right thing to do but i still felt terrible for week's after, take care.

Good Afternoon All

Rex: No need to apolagize as we all have hard roads to travel at times and if not for those around us the road would seem insurmountable. So please sit ye down and join us for a cup or two.

Well the draftsman eas by today to pick my brains so the process of building has begun! Looks like it will be August before it's a go but at least we are making headway.

As for the rods here's the latest

Hi everyone! Hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Yesterday, I got to thinking that the best way to move forward was to just jump back into the layout and go. I called CJcrescent and told him that he has been Honored:rolleyes: with being selected out of thousands to help me with the new track design and installation on the new and now ready layout extension. He was also notified to jump in his baby truck and immediately report for duty. He quickly responded, three hours later, and we went to work. Man, what fun we had (7 hours) and will have doing this together.

With the main part of the layout, I had always been very picky about it being a personal endeavor and challenge, therefore should be my design and mostly my work. But, this is different. This is a fun part and it will be designed mostly for maximizing operational skills and challenges and probably won't be scenically detailed for a long time. CJ's many years of model railroading experience and my extraordinary good looks should make this area exciting even for the hard core.

I hope to have cleaned up CJ's mess by the end of today (No, I don't make a mess. I make nice neat piles all over the place:D ) and will post some photos in the WPF this weekend to give you a hint of the construction.

Excuse me for couple of hours. I have to go to the "Easy Give and Take Finance Company" and see about pawning my truck, boat, car, and house. I wonder if I could find my wife a second job. Hmmmm!

:D :D

Yeah, I jumped in my baby truck, didn't call it a "baby" when you needed to haul layout materials now didja:p, after having to go and get my "other baby" out of the shop! (Bass boat).

The area Rex is currently working on Will be good. The surperb operations will more than make up for Rex's good looks:D:D!

My mess, My mess???? Lets see, I had a soldering iron, a set of small CV pump clamps, solder, and a pair of dikes! You had a drill, a rotary saw, a vaccum cleaner, a hand held version of same, hotglue gun, five different types of screws and nails... ;) my mess indeed!:D

When you figger out how to get Caroline a second job, let me know;), my wife needs one too. She ain't gotta enuff ta do either!:) Us retired guys needa stick together!:D:p:D

Rex,

Stacey and I send our best to you and your family. The loss of your family member will be felt for some time. I'm sorry to hear about it. :(

Be comforted in knowing that you will see him everywhere you look.:)

God Bless,

Johnny and Stacey

Ahemmmmm Rex... Buddy... MESS is to be used with reverence, please and tanks and there maybe copyright infringement here:D But hey I'm easy:o just not cheap:mad:

Well I took the day off so I'm taking it easy and putting my feet up, well maybe.

Mike: I'm using 3' x 1/16" wire rod or brass rod (Bought out the LHS's supply of Aircraft control rods so lets see if the R?C crowd can fly on one wing!:D )
The key to keeping the rods from buckling is to use wood blocks glued to the plywood as guides, I space them every 9" or so. This stops the rods from buckling.

OK Fellas; I've gone and done it. I requested a Railimages account. Should hear in a day or two. Now you poor bas...., sorry, I mean you fine fellows will have to put up with more pictures from me.

Got to thinking, it will be a good thing to go ahead and snap pix of at least most my locos, at least just so I don't forget what I got. I never got good pix out of our old digital cam but now with my new one I can at least have some decent ones.

Hello everyone,
Rex if you think your garage is a ,,,,,,, untidy, you should have seen me today, i glass fibred my house extension flat roof, i was covered in the blooming stuff, almost as bad as tar and feathers, i used fibre glass matting sheets and then surface tissue which is like rolled up spiders webs, when you un roll it, it flies everywhere and stick's to everything much like spiders web's do but this stuff is harder to un tangle, especially with resin covered gloves on.

 Oh my!
Sorry Fergie, but my mess is more of a mess than your MESS is a mess. :D :D
Notice:
I am having my legal staff from Rattlesnake Bend (near Plum Gully) draw up papers now to steal your name. The attorneys, Bubba, June Bug, Billy Joe, and Billy Bob will be arriving your locale the middle of the week. Be prepared for an extensive court battle with plenty of fiddle'n and dance'n. Best get the top off the jug.:p :D :D

Steve: With the WPF photos, you can see all the insulating that I did in my walls, so I know exactly where you are coming from. It can be "H". I don't know if you remember the old insulation material, but it wasn't made from fiber glass; it was spun glass and it would eat you up. Your arms, hands, or any part of you that came into contact with it would itch, burn, itch again for days.

Wow! Quoting myself now. Actually I was quite pleasantly surprised to see a reply that my account was setup at railimages in less than 24hrs! Talk about fast!:D:D I now have seven days to "gitrdone", and start uploading pix. Now I just gotta decide what to put there other than roster shots.;)

Question?

CJ- What are you going to use for background for your inventory shots?
You going to use your famous grass scenery on your layout?:D

The LG&W may be set up again at McWane Center in a couple weeks if you don't finish your inventory before then.

Congrats CJ, looks like you've been inducted into the Railimages club - now if you'll allow me, let me be the first to share with you the
RailImages Secret Handshake::eek:

You'll need to change a few things in your image's web address that you put between the '[IMG ]' tags. When you first capture the images web address while you are viewing it, it will look something like this:
http://www.railimages.com/gallery/YourAccountName/abc

This will only give you a red 'x' if you put it between the IMG tags - here are the changes you need to make:
http://www.railimages.com/albums/YourAccountName/abc.jpg

IOW, change "gallery" to "albums" and add a ".jpg" (or .gif if it's that type of image) extension, and you'll be good-to-go!

...then again, you probably already knew this stuff...!:o

Hello guys, been a while since I have posted, been busy with real work :( and trying to learn this DCC stuff, wow what a change in how you operate. Any way wish everyone a good week. Speak to you guys later.

Hi gang,

I have very little photo-worthy stuff to show for this weekend, due to some surprise developments...let me explain:

As I was driving home from work on Friday, I was happily anticipating that I would finish modifying my rotary dumper to easily accommodate different-height coal cars, then make some homemade 'solid' loads for my point-to-point coal train.

Well, when I walked in the front door, Vicky had a BIG smile on her face and pointed to some huge boxes on the dining room floor - apparently those unassembled bed kits that were supposed to arrive March 21 - arrived EARLY! (Wish the train stuff I order would get here that fast...!) You know the rest of the story: a honey-do weekend!

I did manage to do the mods on my rotary dumper, but I still don't have any coal loads - I might just 'bite the bullet' and buy some Chooch pieces.

Steve - I don't envy what you had to do, at least my new beds don't have fiberglas in them! I remember putting the insulation batting in my garage attic about this time last year - not a pleasant experience!

Fergie - those turnout control rods are looking better every day, reminds me of the prototype ones I used to see when I would hang out at various B&O interlocking towers as a teenager.

Rex, how does that old saying go..."When the going gets tough, the tough get...building?!" (I'm envious, can ya tell?:D )

I'll post some more pix later when I get'em...

[LATER EDIT:] Well hello David, glad to see you pop in - even if only a drive-by!

Steve: I am always sorry to hear something like that. I know that it must have a profound affect on everyone at the job.
