Happy Christmas Eve, guys [and Claudia]!
Stan, that's great news on that upgrade! Let's see...a 4x8 in N scale would be like having a 15x7 HO in terms of the track and scenery you could fit on it. Share your track plan with us if you can, when you've drawn it up...
David - that's a neat 'barter economy' arrangement your LHS boss has setup. I've been keeping an eye open for similar trains-for-service opportunities to finance my addiction-er, hobby.
RT - welcome back, been doing more 027 stuff lately eh? Vicky wanted me to put a "Christmas garden" on my layout too but unfortunately theres too much construction-related clutter [and nowhere near enough time] to do one this year
; but next year, nada problem!
Steve - that must have been a spectactular video of the slag dump, I'm guessing it's a Detroit-area steel mill if CN trains (former GTW) are serving it. I toured the Zug Island works in early 2003 and was amazed to see a front-end loader driving right on top of the glowing hot cinders, scooping them up and dumping them into a semitrailer. Kibri has a model of one of those with the protective steel mesh over the tires, and of course I simply had to get one...
I've set aside space for a slag pit on my layout.
. . .
Merry Christamas everybody!
