So we can derail this thread a bit ? :p
Just a little bit and ONLY after your request for a derailment is sent to the Board of Management (in triplicate and witnessed by 2 Greek Virgins at 5:00pm on any day of the week with an X in it). After which we will need approximately 6 weeks of deliberation time to make an informed decision as to whether or not the said request meets our standards of derailment will it be permitted.

IF the said request is denied you will have 10 seconds from the time of the denial to enter a redress, after which you will have no further rights pertaining to the said request.

You forgot the customary fee. 😂

Whoops - which one? The:

weekly membership fee
monthly membership fee
annual membership fee
administrative fee
answering questions fee
registration fee
thread tax

I think that's it??

Oh and Christian, in case you haven't figured it out yet - yeah - you can deviate a bit :)

Bottom line mate is simple - IF you choose to come into this thread, then be prepared to have fun, LOTS of it and to be harassed and picked on by someone at some point.

IF you have a thin skin or no sense of humor, unable to take a joke, can dish it out but can't take it - then this is probably not the place for you :) :)

So - back to the thread - "My Build"

Finally got that stark white area covered with a base coat for the terrain:

I am still in two minds as to what to do with this area, It isn't large enough for anything significant I don't think and (sorry Smudge) too late to dig a canal ...

But you get all the other fees listed above.

Got to throw the peasants a few crumbs! 🤣 🤣 🤣

Peasants, PEASANTS??? We have peasants in our midst??? Be gone with them I say - be gone!!!!!!!!!!
Ohhh! Thats looking good!

Thanks Mike, slow and sure. I was thinking about building the whole area up as a large hill/mountain with a road running up and around it and random little cabins scattered around it - then I thought about the work and said to myself - maybe when I build the one after the layout I build next :)

Have you come up with any definitive plans for that area?

I know you had several ideas but haven't heard if you had nailed one down.
Nothing really ... It's an odd shape and not that large for anything significant I don't think. I liked the idea of a canal, hotel board walk sort of thing but I don't think there is enough room to make it look good and, to be honest, I really don't feel like digging a canal - which I would have to do. So in short, nope - I am at alo0ss other than to make it a rural area with a few buildings near the tracks.

In short - I am still open to any suggestions. I'm all ears trust me.

Since its a practice layout. Maybe you could just make it overgrown with vegetation, build a for sale sign and call it a day.

Something like this.

I might be completely wrong here BUT, if I have trains running from left to right (in the photo below) wouldn't the signals (any signals) be facing to the right for trains running right to left?
