Good morning from Wisconsin. Another warm, humid day is the guess. The humidity now is being shown at 99% slowly dropping down to 64% at 6pm. 75f degrees now 90 later. Another walk on the machine to nowhere day.

Haircut at 9! Then when I get home Terry said last night she’s willing to do breakfast out basically to get out of the house. That means no Friday night fish fry and I’m fine with that. 2nd on campus Volleyball game we missed attending since 2017 when we purchased our 1st season tickets to VB. I miss the in person live action not the hullabaloo surrounding getting to and from the games.

I went over to the local being built layout yesterday afternoon. We cut his fascia panels using up the materials he had remaining. What he is short on is fascia for the not built yet Wenatchee, Wa. GN yard. All other fascia pieces not installed he and I cut yesterday. The table saw and support tables are being moved out to his garage this weekend by his 2 adult boys!

I was pleasantly surprised that he also had 1 Walthers trestle

built for the 5’ long 11.5” to 12.5” Voss River bridge. Based on pictures of the model and the prototype

we thought they were a close match. After seeing 1 built they will work! Problem now is sourcing them! The scene needs 13 of them!

After returning from breakfast I will stretch 2-32” x 44” canvases across the frames. 1st time for me for anything over 28” and I have watched a few YouTube videos. I have painted on bigger sized canvas but always purchased them framed up. I can do this!

The forum has been extremely slow this morning and I could not get by the data base error message at 1am

52F @ 80% and raining! Actually has been raining here and there for the last couple days. Needed it.

Forum has been ok, have not seen the db error, but does slow down at times.

@TLOC Apple Yard is/was a fun place. For those interested: Get on the South side of the river and you can rail fan to the Rock Island bridge: Claim to fame is a bridge built around a bridge as the old one needed to be upgraded for weight and there was no room to build a new one. There is a spur just before that bridge that serves Alcoa Aluminum. RR Bridge crosses back to the North side of the river, squeezes between the river and SR28 at the Dam, then up the hill to Trinidad with pretty steep grade to Quincy. Pretty bland stuff after Quincy until Spokane. West from Apple - great rail fanning all the way to Everett. You can spend a week just going from Quincy to Everett and still not see everything.

[edit] I forgot Ephrata. East of Quincy and has industries to switch plus Amtrak. Not that far and remember to go East to the outskirts and stop at that burger joint for a snack. I have seen Amtrak meet there early am when the EB Builder was really late; ~0600 ifn I remember correctly.

Good Morning All. Mostly cloudy and 78°. Only made 94° yesterday, slightly warmer today and tomorrow. Back to the triple-digits on Sunday for all of next week. It almost rained here yesterday. I heard rumbling so I immediately got into the pool. Nothing like enticing Mother Nature, kinda like washing the car to bring on the rain. Got a few drops and got out since the thunder was getting closer and Voila! It stopped sprinkling. Didn't even get the porch completely wet. Less than 2 miles west, they apparently got nearly a half inch according to the Weather Underground out that way.
That rain helped reduce the extent of the Ross Fire west of me, but did not extinguish it. Ironic that there's a 90,000 acre wildfire just 70 miles west, but 70 miles SE there's extensive flooding from tropical depression Edouard, with nearly 2' of rain in some areas.

Exhausting day yesterday on the grocery trek. First was the follow-up with the pain management doctor. We'll try another epidural next week. Groceries next went OK, Home Depot stop for pool chlorine went as expected. Pharmacy was out of one of the four requested refills. Then to Tom Thumb to get two items that Kroger was out of and finally to Dollar General for some household maintenance items...trash bags, Ziplocs etc. Well, we forgot the bank to pick up cash to pay a landscaping contractor who is due for a visit today! So I have to make a return visit this morning.
So I will sandwich the bank visit between the arrival of the contractor and his crew, and my wife's leaving for her hair appointment this afternoon. Not sure yet of any other activity that my wife has planned for me today.

Not a lot of time out in the train shed yesterday. I did install the additional ties in the flex track gaps, and I painted some random ties with one of four different shades of gray/brown/black. I am now ready to begin ballasting.

Saw the database error message once yesterday, but otherwise nothing but slow response times. Not nearly as bad as some recent days.

Karl - Nice gig that you have there. Take off for 7 weeks, work 2 days and then take another 3 days off! Seriously though, I'm glad to know that you are back to good health.

Good morning. As Todd mentioned, it has finally rained. It was the first rain we have had since early July. There were a few sprinkles during the rain void, but not even enough to settle the dust. Along withthe rain, came cooler weather which is quite a break from the high 90's and even into the 100's.

Nice to see that the forum seems to be working. I tried to get on a couple of times, got frustrated and turned off the computer.

I have been running around. Went down to Helena for a couple of days to visit my son and his family. I did not venture into the Bozeman area. Mylittledachshund Olivia had some minor surgery to remove a small growth on her belly. She has not been fond of the collar I put on her to keep from licking the stitches. I had to go in for a blood draw and MRI for a phone conference with my oncologist. Guess I'll have to put u[p with this forever. This is just a periodic checkup to check if the cancer hasn't returned.

I did get some figures painted and installed on the display.

This old Urlich Mack tanker was part of the joke on a friend. What a pain in the butt it was lettering the tractor doors. Letter by letter, just like my old Logan Valley locomotives and freight equipment.

Not much more to do. Possible a few more figures, possibly on the porches of the homes and maybe some bushes around the homes and in the tree area.

I have to get into the kitchen. Yesterday the local grocery store had a sale on ground beef for $2.99 a pound. Didn't realize it until I stopped by after the MRI for English muffins I forgot on my Wednesday shopping trip. Going to fire up the Vaccuum sealer and put most of it into the freezer.

You mean St. Louis was 6°F hotter than Texas??? We scored an even 100°F yesterday and is expected again today. I haven't been outside more than ten minutes at a stretch, and that's just for Willow's sake.

Good morning all! My fifth Friday this week. I love being retired.

I have a little historical information to dig up on a Walther PPK this morning, and then my day is mine like all the rest.

Slept pretty good last night but woke up around 0430 (not due to the neighbor's truck). I stopped the caffeine intake at noon, and didn't touch a glass of iced tea all day. I think that helped a lot. I guess I'm going to really have to cut back on the caffeinated iced tea. Next box will be de-caff.

Speaking of nerves OWWWWW!

Just did the cleaning of the cat's water bowl (1 of 2) and my leg is on fire. I never understood what a "Burning Pain" was. I do now. Wow!

Been having that for a few days. No more sharp stabbing, or thick aching. When I irritate the nerve, it catches fire.

Had a bought of pain last night as I went to bed. Took a good 15 minutes for it to calm down. I slept well once I fell asleep, but the first bit was just trying to find a pose that didn't tweak the nerve

New drugs are mostly working. Kind of. The PA warned that the gabapentin might need several days to a week to take full effect. It's supposed to help with the burning pain. But isn't knocking it out yet.

However, I can mostly sit at the desk. Got a new cushion with multiple inflatable chambers that interconnect. It helps.

Today is laundry day, so I'm getting some steps in. But I'm having to do everything sitting (other than getting point A to point B). Two flights up to the laundry means I'm on my back, with legs up on a chair for five minutes to get the burning to calm down.

Tampa trip is looking very unlikely in 2.5 weeks.

Physical Therapy starts Wednesday. Discontinued the Chiropractor. While he never caused me pain, I do wonder if going to see him was the incorrect choice?

the PA put the ability for the therapist to use alternate treatments, like dry needling if possible.

I fed the order into the AI and got an interesting return. It pointed out the diagnosis is: Lumbar spondylolysis (M43.06), Lumbar radiculitis (M54.16)

Which means spondylolysis is a specific stress fracture/defect in a vertebra (different from stenosis, though can coexist), and radiculitis confirms she's documenting actual nerve root irritation, not just muscular pain.

Unfortunately they're not sharing much info on the online portal, so I'm not sure what the xrays show.

Ok, back to catching up on some desk work I've been putting off.

In settings, if you have 'Clear Cashe each time the browser is closed', you will have to log in every time you close the browser regardless of site settings.
 
Good afternoon, Everybody!

Sorry for being AWOL; I did manage to read a few pages. I haven’t been feeling great lately, but I’m managing to get through it. Watching MLB.TV is a great distraction that helps take my mind off things.

I watched my Orioles of course. Our rookie manager needs to learn how to manage an MLB bullpen.

I also watched the Brewers and Cubs split their four-game series, and it felt like a playoff matchup - maybe a preview.

Then I watched the Cardinals @ Dodgers series. The Red Birds showed their talent, coming close to sweeping the Dodgers. In the third and final game of the series, they knocked Tarik Skubal out in the 6th inning and held the lead until the 9th. With the Dodgers now holding the third-best record in the National League, they could face the Cardinals in the Wild Card round. It would be fun to see the Cardinals send the Dodgers home early from the playoffs. With the Cardinals only four games back in the Wild Card race, you never know what could happen.
