Relaxing tonight after lunch and a trip walking through the tourist area in town. Nice lunch, my Missus had the fried chicken sandwich and I had a corned beef hash skillet, both really good with a very pretty and cheerful waitress. Gonna pack as we head out tomorrow morning, stopping at Colorado Railroad Museum, then meeting up with a college friend of Andra's and her husband. Then on to Pueblo for the night, then to Pagosa Springs for a few days. Rain possible/probable everyday til we leave, with most days in the 70s.
You guys have a good night.

Very interesting. As it happens my own proto-freelanced railroad runs right through that area, and the (fictional) western terminus of the modeled portion, if I ever had the time and space would be...Pagosa Springs. In model railroading terms, it's a collection point for several natural resources (coal, oil, natural gas), so in my own universe it warrants a yard. Not a division point, but certainly a yard.

As it also happens, I'm seriously considering relocating from the eastern slope to the western slope(s) in real life, and Pagosa Springs is on my very short list. I particularly love the San Juan mountains.

You will be descending Wolf Creek Pass on the west side. That overlook at the hairpin...gives a view over what I consider to be the most beautiful little valley I've ever seen. Well worth a stop. There is a short hike too a couple of miles further down to a very photogenic waterfall. The trail climbs up to the left. Something like 1 1/2 miles as I recall.

---------------------

And as it ALSO happens, when one of my younger brothers died, he asked that his ashes be spread in the air, the land and the sea. So I climbed the barrier and stood on the cliff's edge at that very overlook...and fulfilled the first part of his request--the air.
A special place for me.

His twin brother fulfilled the second part--the earth--up that path to the falls a couple miles further on. We had to go all the way to San Diego, where my sister fulfilled the last part--the sea.

A very special journey for all three of us.

fulfilled the last part
That's cool you can do that. Over here, it's illegal. I told my wife just bury my ashes in the yard, or in my weber, or toss me into the ocean instead of paying the shrine for the privilege of letting me hang around with them buddha dudes. She said they could go to jail for that. I asked who would know? You don't have a big procession during the peak time of day, make a big speech and then slowly pour the ashes into the ocean. No! you go at 0100, in the cover of darkness and toss me into the ocean, in a paperbag with a rock in it. So easy.

Made an excellent supper tonight, a new to me recipe with a couple of my own enhancements; Pesto Penne with Shrimp and Peas. Homemade Pesto from the hands of Mrs Willie, Peas from the frozen homegrown stash, large shrimp (peeled & deveined by Mrs Willie as well while I was in the pool) and various other ingredients. I enhanced the recipe with additional Pine Nuts, Parmesan, and Pimento Peppers as well. Most excellent! I made Arlene Zucchini spaghetti since she's back on that Keto diet (no carb), while I had some whole wheat Penne pasta.
It's a keeper!
Your kitchen is deserving of a Michelin Star!

I keep getting various sciatica oriented ads and similar. I think Troy has poisoned the system.
oooooo! Miracle Cures!

I don't see them since I use the brave browser. Wonder what they are?

But over on the book of faces, I keep getting BlueChew Gold adds. Those are useless because I'm not taking anything with side effects that might cause leg cramps or pain!

Well, had to say goodbye to my beard and stache for the upcoming eye surgery. Haven't been without my beloved stache since 1984 and my wife has never seen me without it. After I cut it off with scissors, I then used the clippers to get it closer and then a razor to finish it off. After I was done, I look like my younger brother when he was shaving all that stuff off.

So I took a pic and sent it to my wife and told her that my younger brother showed up. She hasn't checked her LINE yet.

In the meantime, I'll be making a shrine...

Good morning gang!

66° under clear skies, heading to a high of 88°. Clouds roll in later. Should have some rain around dinner time.

As far as final arrangements are concerned, I’ve told the wife to just have me cremated, put my ashes in a bag, and throw me in the fire box of either 1309 or 734 on the Western Maryland scenic Railway.

Good morning all!

A rainy stormy morning. Been raining off and on since late last night. Pretty impressive lightning show this morning. Currently 66F and the
high will reach 80F. Rain is supposed to exit the area late this morning.

Have a few things to get done around the house this morning.

Tonight is a volleyball game at home.

Have a safe day everyone!

Morning all,

72° and clear going for a summertime high of 99° later.

Gas went up 40 cents yesterday to $4.29, Wife said maybe we need to bring more money as we're going to pay cash for gas, as it seems a lot more places give a discount for gas. Also we're under a boil water advisory as the city where I work gets it's water from Wichita. They had a power failure yesterday and lost pressure. They said on the news that 1/6th of the state population is under the advisory due the this incident.

On the calls during vacation, they expect me to write down everything I know. Problem is there isn't enough time to write down everything I can still remember. I've been doing this longer than any of my co-workers has been alive, so when I do retire, they'll no longer be able to get that info. We are also short handed, which limits the amount of time they can spend cross training. I know their jobs, but the don't know mine....
