Good Morning All. Clear and 73° on this bright morning. No real change in our boring forecast for the next 10 days.
No change in my boring day either. I'm beginning the fall cleanup routine around here. I removed 2 dead 3-year old saplings yesterday and re-stacked the part of the firewood stack that had tumbled down last week. Today I plan to fire up the chainsaw and attack some branches that have been stored for more firewood. Mowing has taken a temporary pause until more rain comes this way. Sitting on a fence regarding the pool, since the water temperature is now at 81° in the sunny afternoons. That's usable to me but not to my wife. I got in yesterday.
The Accura is still at the repair shop, since one of the parts that was ordered did not come in yesterday as thought. They have fixed what I bought it in for, this part is for one of the "petty" issues that my wife wanted fixed...she doesn't even drive it any more! I just want it back because it's the vehicle that I use to haul stuff in instead of the new Lexus. I desperately need to haul a load of scrap to the recycling yard. Much of it is from last years tornado, but I also have over 100# of crushed aluminum cans. That pays for the gas! The current price here is 70¢/pound. That buys not only the gas, but lots of scenery supplies at the LHS.
Out in the train shed yesterday, I continued my exploration of boxes looking for the elusive sanding sticks. Ran some trains as well. I had a visitor out there, one that I knew was there all of the time, but finally got a photo.
It's about 5" long and it was near the top of the wall. Other than occasionally knocking figures over, it does no harm and I don't know how to catch and release them anyway.
I also spray painted a primer coat of light earth on the details that I chose to complete from way back when.
These have an intended scene to go into once I tackle that project.
Shortwrench - You're right, I will find the sanding sticks immediately after I buy some more. Those projects are sitting on a shelf right now, as I have plenty more to do in their absence.
Alan - Didn't take me a month to get over working every day. I left it behind the minute that I drove out of the parking lot and have never looked back. I actually enjoyed working there, as I had been with them for 43 years.
Tom O - I still haven't broken the habit of getting up at 4:00 without the alarm, even though it has been 10 years now.
What would happen if the world logged off social media for a week? What an interesting question
It would be interesting. Definite difference though between social media and the Internet in general. I use the internet mostly for information. This forum is my only social media site that I visit. I agree about phones in general, having had to use them at work too much.
Marlin - It used to piss me off that EV's weren't paying gasoline tax to maintain roads. Still does, but Texas now charges their owners a yearly fee to make up for it.
Chad - Sorry to read of your interview plight. Good luck in whatever direction that you take.
Mike - We're in the same minority when it comes to phones. I leave mine at the computer desk whenever I am at home and regularly drive without it. I've had to turn around and go back to the house when my wife forgets hers, although it is usually within the first mile. Of course it's a mile from my house to the first place that I can turn around at!
Everyone have a safe and restful Saturday.
