2 hours Mike that fast. I tried to get my neighbors backhoe in here, but it would fit thought the fence otherwise it would have been an 1/2-hour job. Swal
A backhoe would of been the "Cats Ass" to do that job!

That's where the cherry picker was nice. It pulled straight up and you could get in there with the Sewall to cut it there were stubborn roots still holding it.

Excellent points. A LOT has changed since we started cruising in 2005.

Still, the floating hotel is a good way to travel and see more than one location. We're looking at doing the UK and the Med with NCL in the next few years. Turndown service is nice, but my wife HATES mint and chocolate together. So I ate a lot more of the mints than I should.
On an early cruise to Poland (1980s). Dawn and I bought a bottle of vodka and a bottle of whisky from the Purser's Office and we were allowed to take them into the lounge; collecting a glass each that was on a table. (As did other passengers.) Take the bottle back to the cabin for a nightcap.

There is no Purser's Office these days. 🤣 🤣 🤣

Good morning all. A cold, dry day. Flo. A large coffee on the go please. I have a mini-shop to do before oldest grandson visits after school.

Some people here know I love ships and shipping.

This ship looks xxxxxx awful imo.

Captain Stubing would roll over in his grave...

On the same subject though, in the 80s my mother and her wealthy husband cruised once or twice a year on Pacific Princess or Sun Princess. They traveled all over. I was busy being an Airman and a Seargent so I didn't hear a lot about their adventures other than I knew they went.

I really loved that ship from watching The Love Boat in my youth. It was a shame it was sold and scrapped.

Getting a late start here this morning. Had other things that needed my attention first today.

It's currently 72°F/72°F this morning with a wall of heavy precipitation just to our west moving this way. Should be raining within an hour and a half, give or take.

My annual bolete crop has exploded in the back yard over the last two day. I have never seen so many at one time. They are also larger than I have ever seen this year too. I should be picking them and either freezing them or cooking them, but I'm too lazy to clean them. Besides, I really don't like to cook even though I can.

Good morning all,

58 and foggy, it is supposed to clear up today and reach 73. I am manning the front desk at the History Center till 3.

SWAL: pretty impressive roots on those what looks like big shrubs.

Cruise: no desire to make a leisure trip. I am not big on large groups of people.

Vacations: I prefer wilderness camping. If going with the wife, it is usually old forts or historic settings, usually choosing locations off the beaten track.

Curve Radius: as large as you comfortably have room for. 30" is nice, 36" better, 20" tolerable.

As much as I like the way they look, I never had a desire to get on a cruise ship. Now if we are talking about a Rhine Cruise on a large boat, that's another story.
We're doing that in a couple weeks. 200 passengers max. Start in Copenhagen and end in Switzerland.

We've been on a bunch of cruises. The more expensive it is, the nicer the crew, passengers, etc. Carnival and Princess are like low end Holiday Inn's, with a lot of alcohol and gambling and the passenger demographics reflect it.

Now we know why Gopher was always so happy on the ship. He and Isaac were making a killing!

Good afternoon, all! I actually log in to the diner this morning, but it has taken me this long to get caught up. I had to stop and ponder, " did I miss visiting the diner yesterday? How could I possibly be 8 pages behind?" Raining on and off here. We will try to make a grocery run between showers.
An early pic of an area on the layout. The lumber building, upper right has been replaced by U-Val Oils, the brown factory replaced with Jefferies Point, none of the residual houses remain on the layout. I need to take some new photos.

Second from bottom, we had them show up today.

Good day to all on the forum.............

I captured racoon #2 last night.
I tried to relocate racoon #1 last Sunday but the critter expired somewhere along the 15 mile relocation route. So it was a short funeral service of me pouring out the carcass near some woods and going to a near by car wash and cleaning out the trap.
I spent about an hour repairing the trap yesterday from all the damage racoon #1 had done to get it back operating as it should. The step plate that activates the trap door was bent in 3 places and the connecting rod from the step plate to the trap door actuator was bent. I believe that critter was on a mission to escape but to no avail.
Racoon #2 will be making his/her relocation trip a bit later today.
I'll reset the trap again tonight as I don't know how many of these bandits are around. Hopefully I won't have to rebuild the trap again.

I found a couple of spur gears from NWSL that might work on my Spectrum, 2-8-0 project. They are not made specifically for my repair but might work. We shall see. I ordered one brass gear and one delrin gear.

Ordered a gallon of 99% Isopropyl alcohol from Amazon to use for some paint removal projects. It should arrive today. I have a couple of plastic loco tenders that need paint stripping plus some loco numbers that need removal. Another project is exactly what I need. 🤪

Thats about it for now. Time for a nap.

Not sure if this has come up, but I have used fingernail polish remover (acetone) with success, for "gentle" paint removal.

Wife always has on hand, not sure of other pros/cons
