Bending over can leave me dizzy at times.
100/60 is good for me. I won't concern you with my actual low numbers. You might think I'm one of Troy's zombies.

I am fully hydrated, too hydrated if you ask me! I'm going to wear a path on the floor to the bathroom. When it comes to salt, it would be hard to find anyone that uses more than me.

often waiters were staggered to see a 5ft4in woman eat as much as I do. I was always active dancing, badminton, horse riding, so burnt it off easily.
My wife is even smaller, and she has a great appetite. Like you she keeps busy, often taking care of me, bless her heart.

The first time I took my wife, then girlfriend to dinner I enjoyed watching her eat. Many (phony) women will eat like birds, at first. Once they think that they have set the snare it's a different story. There is nothing phony about my pretty little Angel.

Everybody likes to eat. I had sisters and more girlfriends that I care to count, not to mention daughters. I know women like to eat. Women should enjoy eating.

As you say, if your appetite matches your activity, no need to worry about weight.

Life is all about balance. Eat, drink and be merry but keep it all in balance.

Yeah but from what I read yesterday it’s not translating into increased profits. Their costs have gone up and supply is constrained by low herd size.
Where I live, most beef is raised on pasture. Farmers I visit with are happy with the beef prices.

I grew up farming, lived in small town farm areas most of my life, and the ups and downs of commodity prices are normal.

Capitol intensive farming like corn and dairy are subject to some spendy games. The government likes to get in there and "fix" things, like the massive bailouts, loan forgiveness, and embargoes.

Modern farming is not for the faint of heart.

Wasn't there some disease a while back that took a high toll on livestock, or am I thinking of something different?
Poultry-yes, beef-no. The current shortages of beef are due to Smokehouse Creek Fire in February & March 2024 that wiped out millions of acres of pasture and hayfields in North Texas & Oklahoma. Lots of breeding stock were slaughtered due to lack of or cost of feeding them.

Farming is the only business I am aware of that you buy at retail and sell at wholesale.

Young ladies and food.

I think I may have mentioned this story previously; maybe not.

Way back before I met Dawn I loved to hitch-hike. I was travelling around Europe. My journey had just begun and I was in a cafe in Luxembourg City. It was late afternoon. I was about half way eating my meal when in walked an attractive young lady. She slipped her rucksack off her back and sat down at a table.

The waiter quickly arrived and she ordered a lot of food. I mean a lot of food.

A young American (her accent gave her away) ordering so much food, I had to see if she would succeed.
She did really well, but did not eat it all.

We paid for our meals and I followed her out. (An attractive lady, one had to.)

We talked outside the cafe. She said she had not eaten all day and was 'starving'. We talked some more.
Her journey was coming to the end and an airplane to catch. Mine had just started. She departed heading north, I south.

We were talking taxes and property values in earlier threads.

A developer just bought this property because he needed an access road for his 89 townhouses he's about to start building.

It's 1/4 mile from our house. We walk Sugar by it several times per week and were friendly with the owners. They bought it in 2000 for $185k. 1.44 acre lot. The developer paid them just over $1mil for it in August.

Real nice people. The last son just graduated HS, so they were ready to move. Too bad they put a new roof on last year. Very happy for them, nice people.

Foot and mouth disease? EU is having issues at the moment. Buying meat at supermarket is a gamble because I know we get a lot of import, but there is apparantly a big smuggling issue, and thee have been photos of raw meat in normal shopping trolleys being pushed around London, I wouldn’t eat from a takeaway nowadays either. give me venison any day of the week.- they don’t give that anti fart food or stuff it full of antibiotics to get a healthier3 fatter cow when it wasn’t sick and builds up immunity to important drugs…sorry for rant.

Didn't they slaughter unusually high numbers of cattle a few years ago during the droughts in cattle producing states?

I don’t remember everything in the article. It was a mix of things. There may have been a health thing but it was not major from my memory. I’ll see if I can find the article again.

This is not the article but it does touch on some of the points

Basically shrinking herds -- 2022 had the most slaughtered in a long while and slow rebuild. A few years ago with droughts etc it was too costly. Also imported beef has tariffs, and screwworm fears are blocking cattle imports from Mexico.

Probably other reasons. This article really doesn't touch on it but the one I read yesterday talked about the producers costs going up so while prices are up, costs are up so its not the windfall for a lot of them you'd expect...

we have cheap imported lamb, versus gorgeous welsh lamb, but if it is dry and grass is effected the feed costs go up, um 2022 I think when the climate was extra hot hurt a lot of welsh farmers. To be fair the Australians are also having fraught followed by floods so also a hit,
The annoying thing here is we are expected to pay extra for Scottish Angus, but it only needs. To be in Scotland a few weeks to count before slaughter, so English farmers have Angus and then ship then across the border for an expensive finish. I won’t but Angus on principle as there is no way to know which we’re in holiday and which were born and bred.
recent rules have hammered milder then meat herds. farmers are being taxed to the point of collapse, at one time the good times helped pay off loans for the bad tines, and although land rich they were not rich as such. nowadays many hit the wall and big investors pick them up for peanuts. farmers can’t guarantee passing their kids a working lifestyle anymore and many are being forced to sell out. The governments probably pocket backhanders feom the companies scooping up the land. plus areas always designated green belt are conveniently be allowed changes for building house raising the value substantially. even though a lot of that land can flood seasonally!

Good afternoon. Good health check up for me. Thyroid cancer and replacement therapy medicines are under control and the Endocrinologist is very happy. Next Ultrasound for that is January.

She’s real happy with the diabetes, enough so that we are cutting back the Metformin! A1C is at 5.8 and the weight is steady at too heavy but she’s ok where it’s at. She knows me personally as she is a good friend of Terry’s since right before Covid. She’s also Terry’s replacement when we had theater or Volleyball Terry was going to miss.

Did the usual labs after and those results will pop up probably tomorrow afternoon. Needed new base data as UW switched lab procedures across the entire system last month. Sounds like a money grab to me…

Be well

That's great about the health! I got hit with Hashimoto Syndrome at 55, so I know about thyroid issues. My wife had radioactive iodine and most of hers removed in her youth.

A1C at 5.8 is down in the pre-diabetes range which is great. Mine keeps bouncing around 5.5-5.7 every year.

Mother Nature fooled the NWS again. We've had on and off light showers with distant thunder all afternoon. It's keeping me from trying out the new chainsaw and from getting into the pool.
Jaz - While it's happening across the pond where you are at, there hasn't been a confirmed case of foot & mouth disease in the states since 1929, according to the USDA.

We have a fire nearby. Smoke is starting to get thick.
