Not sure which test you guys are getting, but the ones we get through LabCorp (via my wife's employer) don't ask for the full thing back. We just have to swipe the sample with a probe and put enough goop into a small tube of sterile solution. The tube is about the size of one of those squeeze tube one-use CA glue samples. After that, put it in a ziplock, then a box, and another plastic bag with the postal code on it.

On an off note, just got blocked on Facebook by Lucy Dormant for asking if her recent spate of politically oriented posts on her Blue Check Mark page was going to continue.

After she responded questioning if the stuff she posted was political (it was), I asked if the NMRA was paying in whole or part the fees that FB charges monthly for the blue check mark. If the NMRA is paying, I'd prefer no politics. If Lucy is paying, no problemo...

She replied that she paid for it herself. Then blocked me.

Oh well... :) Back to playing with trains, which is why I had followed that profile.
Ouch ouch ouch I may have fallen over her on a FB woman modellers page, but railways and politics (i have no idea of her leanings) are not a good idea, good for you to standing up to it
I have not posted on FB in a donkeys age I handed over my own model discussion page to a fellow modeller - it still does well - but I found it a touch annoying after I got it going and being polite to some people meant biting my tongue which eventually I thought I could no longer moderate it without blowing up big time so stepped away. the gifted modeller who I gave it to (upsetting a couple of real life friends :( ) also tends to be remote and I fully understand why.
The balance this forum has is to my mind miraculous the moderators have the patience of Job. I could not keep my role there and got tired of opinions I thought stupid contentious and down right rude at times. Banning people and clearing out rogues who littered it with adverts almost saw me just delete it, and there was a community so I opted out before I tore it down. My reallife friends still moderate and agree at times they need a break from it.
I have a sense of humour (some may disagree) I like the interaction (except with idiots or idiotic actions) and rather than burn out I just walked away.
good for you though modelling is modelling. And here someone else can slap me silly if I am the one overstepping, so much more relaxing

They were one of my dad's favorites. I gagged on the first bite and nearly puked on the second.
I'm sorry I brought it up.

It reminds me of my nephew. His mother (my ex-sister-in-law) fed him mostly McDonalds chicken nuggets and fries. I always tried to make him home cooked food when he was with me. I had him try spinach. He made a great attempt, too good, he ended up vomiting. I still feel horrible about it.

Not sure which test you guys are getting,
Cologuard is the test. You leave a sample in a container about the size of a quart saucepan, seal it and send it back. It's supposedly more reliable than the swab. Not sure if Medicare pays for the screening that you describe.
Scroll down about halfway on the left side of this page for a how to video. Cologuard test video

I admire all those who grow their own. For me it is so easy to buy whatever looks good, fresh in the produce section of the grocery store. No canning, no freezing, no waste.
Growing your own is not for everybody. But for me, it means that a good portion of what I eat is grown without pesticides, herbicides, artificial fertilizer and possibly genetically altered genes. Plus it doesn't have all of the unpronounceable preservatives, salt and sugar in it. I do eat an occasional Frito though.
No waste is a misnomer. The whole food chain throws out an enormous amount of perfectly good food just because of slight blemishes. I had a neighbor once who collected barrels of produce given away for free by a local grocery store, and fed it to his pigs. That practice is illegal now though; it goes to the landfill.

As a matter of point, a couple of people nudged me about returning,
A lot of people were kind enough to be really nice when I returned
Are they now thinking …did she always post this much…and have so much to say! About nothing much important…and I wonder if she plans another break…any time soon.
….be careful what you wish for…my mum always said. Grins. off to go let someone get a word in edgeways….can’t promise I won’t be back….sashays off……chuckling….

I for one was glad to see you return. The core of this forum is its members. I find it great to see the different takes, views and opinions that come up for the wide variety of topics that hit the floor of the diner. So just post away.

Well, some of us are still wondering what you were up to while gone.... But, we understand. MI6 doesn't like a blabbermouth about what one does for King and Country. I only hope that Blofeld finally learned his lesson!

I also eat canned vegetables. I stock up when they go on sale. Canned vegetables are not as good as frozen and not even close to fresh. They are perfect for those days in between trips to the grocery store. And canned vegetables make a great snack, open, salt, and eat.
Ew Yuk! 🤢 I can't do canned veggies at all. Having had braces for a few years as a teenager all I can taste is metal whenever I eat canned veggies or even canned fruit. Got to be frozen or fresh or "old fashioned" canned like in a Mason Jar.

My experiment with the Okinawan sweet potatoes was a bust. I had two (2) 6" potatoes out of 4 plants. My gut says it was my soil mix. The vines only went out about 6' and were almost all yellow this weekend. NOW the ones I planted at my mom's house have vines out to about 15' and are still bright green, so I have my fingers crossed. I'll give hers another week or two.
Do you get seed for next year?

They aren't grown from seed. You need to purchase "slips"....young shoots. I'll see how the ones I planted at my mom's turn out. If there's a good harvest I'll replant there next year. There's a higher concentration of clay in her soil and the property was part of a strawberry farm before it was developed. I'm pretty sure my problem was the soil mix, I crowded the slips, or a combination of both.
