Here comes the storm! Oh boy. Might be a washout tomorrow.

Good afternoon gang!

Been playing hookey today. I consider it a mental health day now that my co-worker is back from her 2 1/2 week vacation.
Been lots of places. To the local auction house to drop off a dozen beer flats full of HO and O gage stuff I didn't want or need. Some of it was nice stuff, just didn't fit my needs. Then a haircut, some couch shopping(without SWMBO) a bank run, Home Depot then Lowes then home. Spent the last 3 hours working on the lil red truck prepping for paint. Now it's time to sit on my but, my feets are hurting!
Maybe it can wash some of the political scum out of DC!
Willie. Since D.C. is in a tidal basin, there is a bright side to global warming. If the sea level rises just a few feet, it's flooded!
I'm not a fan of big modern power, but I think they look quite dashing in this livery.

Troy, I think I gained weight just looking at your dessert!

New attachments for the Dremel,, gotta get crackin!

Afternoon All,

Started out with a walk at 72F and with a little bit of breeze. After the regular chores I went outside did routine pool maintenance, hosed off the pool deck, and pulled weeds around the AC unit. I ran trains for a while before deciding it was time to veg out. I'm not sure what's on the agenda tomorrow.

David- Interesting vintage vehicles in the video.

TomO- Great chance to get some Pennsy hoppers! :D

Troy- Have fun in St. Pete.

Patrick- We vinyl planking in Dad's room. We had a issue of moisture collecting and corners turning up because the plastic chair matt (for computer chair was trapping moisture under it and that section needed redone. Online research says a breathable material (recommended a jute rug) should be used.

Sherrel- I've replaced the dryer heating element twice. It's a pain in the butt, but cheaper than a new one.

Willie- Nice detailing. I agree with you about the blue color. Did the armadillo get hit by a train?:D

NTR- Nice 1:1 photo.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Well it looks like it may go up the Chesapeake. So maybe, unfortunately most of the scum floats, and those most offensive will be out of town...
The latest cone of uncertainty:

Moving kind of slow @ 13 mph. Clouded over early, before lunch, and we had a brisk wind out of the East. The part of North Carolina, where the son lives was getting rained on.

Wife and I went for a our walk, choosing a different part of the trail. Slightly shorter trail, 0.85 mi, but with more grade variation. We improved our speed to 18:06" though. Doesn't look like there will be much walking until maybe next Tuesday, if the forecasters are right. Ophelia is projected to leave us with another 3 to 5" inches to add to an already wet September.
After the walk, we stopped at the Drug store to pick up more water pills, (Lasix), then to ShopRite for Milk, rolls and lunch meat.
Considering the hype over the impending storm, and Shabat and Yom Kippur coming up between tonight and Monday Night/Tuesday, the store was not crowded. Bread and Milk were well stocked.
After lunch, we secured the patio furniture and other yard stuff, and hung out. I tested the stretch of railroad, I recently ballasted, and the Reading GP-7 ran over the track / switches without issue.

When I worked in Steamtown as a 17 year old, I spent many rainy days cleaning and polishing the original locomotive.
For the really good bits, jump to 1:30

At nearly £600 it's expensive, but the Loco and tender chassis's and body's are all die cast, so not a lot of plastic in this.

I sooooooooooooo want one, but no way can I afford one :(

Good morning from home in Wisconsin. 66f degrees now heading to 80 with pop-up T-storms. Hopefully they will miss us as the grandson has a soccer tournament down the road from us. 70+ teams and they were still playing last night on the 2 lighted turf fields at 10. The roads around the complex of 12 fields and the 2 stadium fields will be a zoo today. His team was ranked 4th for this tournament and their 1st of 2 games today is at 9:45. They are only guaranteed 2 games unless they win. Age limit is 9 so this should be interesting as his team has been excellent this Fall season playing up at the 10 and 11 year old levels. 8 of the 14 kids have been playing ice hockey together now for 4 seasons and are a very tight-nit group that all seem to get along. That hasn’t always been the case the last 2 seasons in soccer. Last Fall soccer season 2 of the coaches got in a physical fight on the sideline of a game.

On Fridays in WIsconsin the traditional meal is a fish fry. Usually, cod or haddock but blue gills, perch and walleye are often available. Tables are almost always tough to get at our usual 6-7 sit down time for dinner. Most places around here do not accept reservations. We walked into a normally packed place last night at 6:15. We were expecting a 30-45 minutes wait in there is “always a seat available” at the bar! Sat us immediately which was strange but we were fine. Asked the server why so empty and his reply was look at the TV. University of WIsconsin was at Perdue playing Big Ten football with kickoff at 6 local time. We had a nice unhurried Friday meal.

I am not sure I can squeeze a train show in between soccer matches today. 45 minutes one way, 2 hours there and 45 minutes back. I need to confirm the 2nd game time. If the g/son’s team win both games today I can’t go tomorrow. If he loses a game he is done and I can get there at opening and be home in time to get to volleyball at 1 on campus. Nice problems to have. At the show last year I was able to pick up 4 new in the sealed box ScaleTrain coil cars for $25 each and that was a super great deal. That’s what I was hoping for until I was told about the soccer tournament

It seems doubtful I will get to the train room today until after dinner, again dependent if the g/son wins both games and what the draw is. There will be some teams getting a third game today. If they lose or draws an early game tomorrow I might and want to. Tested again yesterday but added 10 cars to the 2 and 3 engines I was running. One spot was troublesome when I reversed the train. Rolling forward was no issue and everything was in gauge. Different cars but the same spot. So it’s the track and I will look at again

enjoy the day

Morning all,

68° and partly cloudy. Going for a high of 87°. Supposed to get windy, so I'll have to mow the lawn shortly, before the wind gets too strong.

Wife changed course on me, so now I'm painting the basement bathroom as we're going to do the floor there as well. Then all the floors will match. Probably cheaper to do it now rather than later. Carpet after the first of the year, but we will be getting rid of the partial carpet in the 2 bathrooms. They are carpeted from the entrance to the edge of the toilet\tub area, so basically in front of the vanity\sink base. Toilet and tub are on vinyl flooring. We are buying the flooring for the master bath, but not yet installing it as we have some more reno work we want\need to do there.

We shouldn't have moisture issues as we're going over a wood underlay on a wood subfloor. They are planning a moisture barrier for the basement bathroom. Turns out the sales rep was the daughter of the owner, who came out and actually did the measurements. They do have a good reputation in the area and are actually less expensive than a couple of "discount" flooring stores.

Oh well, Work beckons...
