Good evening gang!

Got a little train time in today! I have , for the new layout about a dozen new and very gently used Shinohara switches , that are not DCC friendly. At least not yet. I recently got a shipment of PCB tie material, and starting converting them to DCC friendly. I've been watching the DCC Guy on You-tube tutorials about converting them, and wiring Tortoise machines repeatedly, finally taking the plunge today. The 1st one took about 2 hours, the second about an hour and now a sequence is appearing , I think I can do 2 in an evening and I should get them all in short order.

Hughie, congrats to you and the Mrs.! Drop the voltage to that LED, It will live longer! Try 100 Ohms resistor and adjust from there.

Louis: I'm jamming on memory lane on 80's local music, If this doesn't make you remember Hammerjacks nothing will!
I've got my copy of that album around here somewhere!
This song was also on the album, but wasn't included in the post, along with a few others.

Sherrel What you wearing there? A slingshot?? 😁 😁;)

Good morning all. A day of showers. A few errands to run before taking younger granddaughter to Brownies.

Windstar Cruises 'Star Legend' in Gibraltar. Because of the security in Gibraltar I had to get special permission to take the photograph.

Morning all,

As expected, they did turn off my computer when I left for vacation. So now I'm running updates on everything as I can't get into stuff until it updates. I think they were trying to be "helpful" in trying to keep me out during my vacation. Fortunately, I do have alternatives and used them during my vacation period. Try to lock out the architect of the system... 😁

Currently 60° and clear, going for a high of 90°. System indication it's ready to reboot after updates.

Good morning from the chilled So. Central part of WIsconsin about 90 miles north of MIGALYTO, 318 miles west of airport bored Troy and countless miles from DAVID cruising by Gibraltar. They I’m sure are warmer than the 48f degrees we have now though we are heading to 71 this afternoon. The pool water this morning was 80 and the inside of the house is 72.

On September 18th in 1976 at around 1:30PM, Terry and I said, I do. It’s definitely been a good 47 year ride that hopefully continues for a long while. With mostly good sailing it has been bumpy at times. She still is the best thing to ever happen to me. Dinner out tonight will definitely test what the “average“ American spends in a month eating out. This is one of the few date nights that we eat at a really nice place. But, it’s a Monday and I was finding over the weekend most of the “nicer” non-brew pub eating establishments are closed. She did say no to 2 places I thought we’d try. I do have 2 gift certificates to the over hyped and priced Ruth Chris, is that allowed…

The landscaping crew due to show today were actually here for around 6 hours on Sunday. The lady foreperson said they will have a big crew here today, tomorrow and Wednesday. She expects with a few days off to be complete on 9/27 which will be Terry’s birthday.

I have 2 more locomotives to program this morning. It takes around 20-30 minutes each. They were dropped off yesterday after the Packer game. The daughter will be over about 11 and we will install the frame work for the turn back loop at the end of staging. This was not in the original plan or even the 40 revisions or so before we started but I lengthen the nolix and shifted the staging yards about 30’ and doing another nolix climb would have been too disruptive. I was talked out of a stub ended staging yard, so now is the time to fix it.

I watched the soldering guy solder the feeders to the rails Saturday (I played helper after I programmed some diesels for him). Using a resistance soldering rig with tweezers was like seeing an artist do their thing. Squeeze and go and the soldering points are so neat and clean. We tested Saturday night and I did again yesterday and everything works great using both DC and DCC, separately of course. No dead spots. This layout will use many more freight cars and locomotives then I currently have. I have been itching to pull the trigger on 5 diesels but during testing the 5 I have now with DCC will be fine. I will try to stay away from online retail therapy for myself until the mainline testing is complete sometime hopefully in November. I do have my “suggested for dad” XMAS gift list ready to give our 2 wonderful children.

enjoy the day

Happy 47!!! My wife and I hit 24 later this year. Half way to ya!

Good Morning All. Clear and 63°, headed up to the lower 90's later on. Nighttime temperatures will return to the mid-70's tonight and remain there for a while. Days are noticeably shorter after a week or more with clouds all day long, light later and dark earlier. Still having to run the A/C for about 5-6 hours every afternoon/evening. Flies have returned; mosquitos won't be far behind if it ever rains. It was nice not having many grasshoppers this year, the heat had nothing to do with it, heavy rains drowned most of the nymphs in the spring.

Looks like the day here starts with household tasks, as I ran the dishwasher after supper last night. Then another fine day to resume outdoor projects as it has dried up from Saturday's rain.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I found the missing trash receptacles.

They have been duly painted and installed.

A couple of vehicles have been added to the parking lot.

Mikey - Thanks, I like the flower box as well, not just because I made it. I was impressed by them both in quantities and variety when I stayed in Austria back in 1984. Seems like every house had them.
Todd - That's too bad about the young carpenter. Hopefully he hasn't resumed his former harmful lifestyle.
Sherrel - That's great news about the PSA. How in the world did you get that picture of me???;)
Curt - That seems like a real nice haul from the LHS. Perfect coincidence that it was nearby.
Tom O - Congratulations to you and Terry on #47.

Today is National Cheeseburger Day. It is also the USAF's 76th birthday.
Everybody have a great day.

Morning Coffee Shop Patrons: Wee's out here are 65 degrees and are shooting for a 77 high - and believe it or not cloudy with possible drizzle!
i Added back one additional "pill" into the fray and I think it may be helping. BP this morning was 150/85 with HR at 57 - need to keep the HR near there to mid 60's. Lower than that and I start losing what little energy I have left.

Enough about me! TomO congrats on the anniversary - I like success stories, and just in case: an early Birthday wish for Terry.
Try to lock out the architect of the system... 😁
Patrick, that's funny!

Hughie, Can't remember if I offered Congrats to you and the Conductor on the 47th as well - sometimes I have JBS

things slip my mind - but I did stay at a Holiday Inn!

I got to work a couple of hours ago, and found out the building I don’t work in suffered a fire late Friday night.
A lithium battery in one of the golf carts caught fire, and the fire spread through a portion of the building. It looks like about a third of that building will be unusable for at least a month, and everybody from there is doubling up with us in the unaffected building.

Good morning gang!

TomO, congrats on the anniversary!! You have alot more then we do! (3, then 4 next month) but then again I've had 3 wives. AS the saying goes, IF at first you don't succeed................I think I did!

Gorgeous day out there right now, bright and sunny and mild temps in the 70s expected! more of the same for this week with a rainy weekend on tap.

Oh, but the electric cars (and stuff) are gonna save the planet! They are gonna save it til it burns to a cinder!

Cars,, golf carts, skate boards, cell phones, all just a folly thinking they are safe. Its all smoke and mirrors and the environmental damage behind scenes is massive, and the human toll is shameful. It is time this world gets it head out of it's entitled a$$. The options are there, put down the kool-aid.
Off my soapbox now. Have a nice day!

Good morning, all! The sun is out, 83 degrees, and not a whisper of wind. I had intended to try and mow, but when it's this still, I don't because it just feels that much hotter.
Thanks for the suggestions for the green signal light. They come with resistors already attached, though I'm not sure of the spec.

TomO - Congratulations to you and Terry. Seems a number of us selected September to kill bachelorhood.
Sherrell - I married a Conductress, not a Conductor. And you you cut 10 years from my "life" sentence. (57 yrs not 47yrs).

STAY SAFE
LATER
