Another comfortable afternoon on the SFW estate...in the pool!

Though I'd not be buying a car from anyone that does this. Not their business where, how, etc I drive.
Any car that has "Onstar" or anything similar tracks how and where you drive. I got a Colorado that let me know exactly where I went with it and how fast I drove. Every new vehicle has a black box that shows how you drive it. I'm not really sure about how "private matters" are monitored, but I know there are microphones in nearly everything these days.

Well, that's crazy. Twenty minutes ago, we heard thunder, power went off momentarily and the wind (which has been at 0 mph all day), all of a sudden came out of the north and the temperature dropped 25° in that short period of time. Radar shows intense thunderstorms here, but stepping outside indicates only light rain. Of course any rain is welcome right now. Obviously I will monitor the situation.
Sadly as I typed this, the intense TS moved south of here but it is still raining lightly.

Well, howdy there internet peeps, and those with their windows open, wishing they had more activity for their cars to track in the bedrooms.

It's Troy again.

Got my author newsletter out this morning. Since I'm writing about a cruise this time, and the ship is a mythical sister to the QM, here's a shot of the QM's funnels. I love that ship, and am glad she's getting some TLC from Long Beach.

In other news, I sold off my resin printer (3D) yesterday. The screen is dying, and it was about a $150 fix. For double that, I can get the latest greatest, but a bit smaller.

UPS says it's going to arrive today.

Not sure what to print first on it. Well, after the calibration tests.

Orcs?

Yeah... probably need to print some orcs.

Morning all,

60° and clear as the sun rises. Opened the front and back doors to let the cooler and smokey air in. At least it's cooler. Still supposed to be a little cooler today, but still in the lower 90's.

Going with the boy to shop for flooring for his house and ours.

Our train club has partnered with McWane Science Center in Birmingham for the last 14 years to have a holiday train display and show. We have had clinics during the shows and built a N scale layout one year over the 6 week show.
We have begun building a new HO layout to be displayed, under construction, next year.
We are holding a meeting today to offer McWane members the chance to help construct the new layout and learn about the many skills needed to build a layout.
Our hope is to lure more people into the hobby, who will want to become members of the club also. We call ourselves a "teaching club". During the shows, we mingle with the patrons to talk to them about trains and modeling.
I'll let you know how it goes.

Good morning from another cool start in WIsconsin. At pool time it was 51f degrees, 90 minutes later the same. Now 3 hours later it’s only 54 with a dense fog per the weather app. The pool water this morning was 82. Mid 70’s is the hopeful prediction.

Weathering and a quick grocery run today as I need to re-stock before the football game this evening. The grandkids and some friends along with a parent are coming for a pool party. 3-7 as it’s sort of a back to school tradition the last couple years. These are the kids on both the grandson’s soccer and hockey teams. The granddaughter will have a couple of her friends over but the 3 of them while they love the pool can’t handle the crowd or the noise. There is one parent in this group that tries to bring beer to a non-alcoholic kids party. His wife texted the SIL that she will be coming not him. He has embarrassed her a few times in the past over this. Hockey try-outs begin this week and last 7 sessions over the next 3 weeks. Many of these teammates will be moving on to different teams this hockey season. So this will be a fun get together.

enjoy the day

Ham, sausage, eggs, hashbrowns(shredded), & OJ is required this am. need food to replace the cigarettes I havent had for 48 hrs. Its a start & everything has a starting point
Moermusic: Good on you! BTW, Nice photos ! I puffed away for 52 years - quitting multiple times along the way ranging from 3-4 days to 6 months, but like a moth to the flame I kept it up.
Finally, with a cough that would not go away and a Doctor telling me that it was time to stop, I walked out of his office and threw away almost a full pack - and I have never looked back. Have not touched one from that day. Have Quit now 15 years, but I will stand next to someone smoking and I love the smell - but don't dare touch!
Francine -- Good morning to you. Please, I will have the same as Moermusic, thank you.

Saturday: Sunny and hot, high of about 98°F.

Saturday night: Mostly clear, low near 68°F.

Sunday: Mostly sunny and hot, high around 98°F.

Yesterday I was trapped helping #2 daughter with storage of household which arrived from Okinawa plus hauling stuff she wanted/needed here sat the house. It was HOT - 98 with 20% humidity and I was sweating - mercy!
Looks like more of the same for the next few days.
Poor little Bennett is complaining about his tooth hurting - or maybe just an excuse to get out of school early - we're not really sure?

Doctor has a "stiffer" dose of pills on the way and I have to go to the local clinic here for to have three different tests run; one being a PSA
Francine is here with my breakfast - later guys.

Good Morning All. Mostly cloudy and 74° to start our day. Yep! We had a little thundershower last night. It was brief and left 0.4" in the rain gauge, enough here to settle the dust and totally freak out anyone in Southern Kalifornia. Thunder is rumbling outside right now, but it appears that all activity is 4-5 miles east of here. Last night might have even surprised the NWS, because it was never in the forecast even after it started. Still looking at cooler temperatures and possible rain starting Monday.
Yesterday's high temperature of 109° felt kinda warm since there was no wind whatsoever until the thundershower hit right at dusk. It will be 9 months before we see triple digits again.

A less than successful day at the grocery store yesterday. They were out of enough items that were on my list that I had to choose between going to Walmart or Target across the street. I chose Target because of many negative experiences at Walmart, and it appeared that I would have to park a half mile away. Prices seemed to have stabilized about 20% higher than two years ago and I doubt that any of them will go down. Gasoline has not really gone up here yet, but I expect it to by next week.

An auspicious day today, 51 years ago on a Saturday evening, my wife and I got married. How we tolerated each other for this long, I have no idea.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I continued painting figures. Nothing really to post pictures of yet.
Some random pictures today. A vacant lot.

By the way, that wavy thing in the background is what a solar screen looks like when photographed.

Moermusic - Congratulations and good luck on quitting smoking. It probably won't be easy if you've been smoking for very long, but it is possible. For me it was easier as I had only smoked for a short period of time and quit in 1970, when the price of a pack went from 30¢ to 33¢. As a poor college student, that meant a savings of about $2.50 a week. Enough to fill the gas tank on my VW Beetle. My Dad never quit and it eventually got him, he was a two pack a day Lucky Strike non-filtered for nearly 60 years. Sarcastically, we placed a pack into his coffin at the wake, along with his favorite Zippo lighter. He once pointed out that he quit every single day; just at bedtime. After he passed away, we found dozens of burns in the carpet next to his bed, where burning butts had fallen out of the ashtray.
Nice pictures by the way.
Swal -
...and turning the country into a hell hole at the same time.
Parts of this country have been turning into a hell hole for a while now. I'll stop there because of the politics potential.
Chad - I'm pretty sure that Utah has personal values pretty close to those in Texas. You might have to correct me.
Todd - Good thoughts on quitting tobacco.
Patrick - Best wishes to your wife in overcoming whatever ails her.

Everybody have a great Saturday.

Congrats on 51 years! Terry and I will be 47 on 9/18. I never smoked but mom/dad and Terry all did. Terry quit the day I retired in 9/2014 and the last couple years it has finally caught up to her. COPD! Not fun
