Eye doc appt went well. Got on the train a little after 8, got a seat, transferred once for a short jaunt to the hospital. Got there a little after 9 and was out by 12. Doc was very reassuring and answered all of my concerns and questions. My issues are normal and my visual accuity is slowly coming in. When they did the test, I could see which way the C was (up, down, sideways) for most of it, but got two wrong. When they put the lenses in, that cleared it up immensely. Big difference from 2 weeks ago when even the lense didn't help.

So, I can get back to normal routing in 1 week, which will make it 4 weeks since the surgery. Change the eye drop prescription and only apply 3 times per day vice the 9 that I was on, which I think I can remember. He said I could probably drive, but I'm going to hold off on that until the right peripheral issue lessens a bit more. So the poor wife will have to ferry me around a bit more.

While we were getting ready to pay for the visit, the earthquake alarm went off 3 times. My phone didn't start screeching and my wife told me that the Yokosuka emergency system got hacked and is now off-line. Then an update from the TV that was on said that the earthquake alarm was in error, so probably hacking again. Glad that it was because we still needed to jump on the train.

Good morning. It’s 73 and clear, heading to 90.

I’ve lived in my new place for a little over a year, and am still discovering or realizing things about the place and the person i bought it from.
One of the things I’ve come to realize is, she seems to be an alcoholic. I present to you, exhibit A:

IMG_0029.jpeg

In a tiny home where every square foot needs to have a place for everything, and everything in that place, I’ve cleaned out two entire shelves in my kitchen that contained nothing but wine and champaign glasses, as well as a set of shot glasses. I’ve hung onto them for this long because there’s nothing wrong with them, and I am loath to throw anything away that isn’t broken or worn out. I do have a rule about this kind of stuff, and generally, if I don’t touch it in a year, away it goes.
I think I’ll save a shot glass, because you never know, and toss the rest.

Good morning gang!

Looks like an overcast day starting at 61° and getting to 81° before the rains come.

Thanks for all the anniversary congrats yesterday. Dinner was a little Italian place about 5 miles from the house. Their propane ran out right before we ordered due to a faulty gage not warning the kitchen or the propane company. She elected to go ahead and order cold food, so we both had italian cold cut subs and potato chips.

Good morning all!

Happy Friday!

A dreary, damp, blustery day today. Currently its 46F with a stiff north wind. High for today is only going to be 51F with scattered light rain showers this morning.

Usual stuff around the house this morning. Not much else happening that I know of..

Have a safe day everyone!

Have a great day! ;)

I get up every morning walk Murphy 3 miles then have eggs, home fries and sprouted whole grain toast for breakfast. No bacon they say it's one of the worst things you can eat if you want to stay above the ground. Swal

My neighbor and myself are taking out all the overgrown bushes between our properties and putting up a vinyl fence. He's bringing his backhoe over Sunday and ripping everything out. I'm trying to trim everything up before hand and put it out for the town to take today. Swal

Good morning! A blustery 54°F and windy this morning. Sky is starting to clear now, but the clouds will return before lunch. High today right where it is now. It will feel cooler though with a 30 knot wind all day from the north. I hope it doesn't blow out my bar-b-q later today. A light shower is passing through right now ahead of the clear line.

Rose at 0600 today, but woke up around 0500 and just rolled around for an hour. Body is still adjusting to the lower dose of Metoprolol, but heart rate remains steady at around 55-60 at rest, no chest pain, and no dizziness. I feel better overall with this half-dose and I can't wait to get off of it entirely. I haven't felt what 'normal' feels like for 16 years, but I'm getting there. This drug also makes me feel tired all of the time and not want to do much, but I've been forcing myself to do 'stuff' for a long time now in spite of the drug.

Nothing planned for today except running trains, bar-b-q, and a nap after lunch. Have a great Autumn weekend!

Michael I have so many things planned for the next 3 months, No time for naps, just keep moving. Right now, it's raining so I have to delay my 3 mile walk with Murphy for an hour or so. Swal.

Kind of sad about Ruger ditching most of their iconic firearms. 10/22 and Mini-14 are staying. The Mini-14 is one that I find interesting is staying. I have not seen one in the wild for decades and I wouldn't think they'd sell many with all the other more popular semi-auto 223 style rifles on the market.
Speaking of Ruger, I ran into these at EJs Auctions. https://auctions.ejsauction.com/auction-lot/ruger-10-22-gatling-alico-two-twenty-two_366283f8db they have two listed.

I just received a check for $90.00 from the government for something.
Received both of ours ($90@) about 10 days ago. Someone wants to buy your vote! Actually, it's a leftover gift from George "Dubya", who approved it in 2008. Money was never spent and the Treasury Dept just recently found it in the couch cushions. It was limited to about 20 million folks on Medicare. Exclusions include anyone on Medicaid or on Medicare Advantage plans.

Are you actually going to model this sequence of falls in HO? If so, I have some advice.

Yes they will and if you have advice more than willing to listen.

The plan is to start in 1/2027 but the frame work (drop in module) will be in my shop before Thanksgiving. This will be a team effort. The layout owner is building the module. I will rough out the ground forms surrounding the river and falls. Trees are being done by a married couple. The sound module (water sounds over the falls) track and wiring by the wiring team (3 retired electricians) and a couple other who will pop by to help when they have time.

The other day I was replacing a coupler on a boxcar. In the same compartmented box of Kadee couplers I had a compartment of plastic wheel sets from cars that were refitted to steel wheels. I don't know why I held on to these. A lightbulb moment-I should add these to the layout
somewhere. Some of the axles had actual rust on them. Mixed some brown paint with a touch of orange and weathered them. Found a spot in the yard where a scrap pile would be appropriate.
