Ran my new Kato ED16 around last night and noticed that the headlight was very dim in one direction. Then I flipped the loco around and ran it and the headlight was nice and bright. Didn't think much of it for some reason.

Today, took the body off to see what was inside and noticed that the headlight runner on one end is missing. Made sure that the lense wasn't stuck to the cab.

Wrote to Kato, who don't like responding, and let them know. I brought up that I hope it isn't a factory defect and asked if they could send me a replacement lense as I don't want to go through the hassle of sending it back to the retailer, only to get another defective one back.

Good Evening All. Foggy and 70°, that's been the high today!. Rain has come and gone, through all of the on-again, off-again mist/drizzle/sprinkles today, another 0.15" got added to the gauge, making today's total 0.65". Relative humidity is currently at 100%, making it very uncomfortable...kinda like Hughie's weather down around H-town!

Been reading about Trump's auto ride from our area to Oklahoma Thursday and I keep envisioning him leaning forward clutching the front seat and yelling "Go Speed Racer, Go"! That phrase came from a TV series in the 60's which was rebroadcast extensively in later years, just for our kids!

I decided to contact the jungle site about my defective ED16 and when I clicked on the order and requested a return, it told me that it was "no longer eligible for return" and told me to read the policy. I then went through the process of trying to figure out how to get to the chat as they hide that very well. Once I got there and started chatting with their bot, which also told me that it wasn't eligible, I clicked on chat with associate and while waiting, I told it that they need to recalibrate their system to calculate the eligibility date from the date of delivery and not the date of the pre-order, which was in May in this case. After 3 lines of my ranting, the associate came on and got the brunt of it. I wanted a replacement, but she told me that the item was no longer available (from Amazon), so she issued me a refund with no return.

I looked at the model and yep, no longer available directly from amazon, only higher prices from their vendors are available. wow.

So now, I want to see if Kato gives a cr@p or not. I may shove a piece of fiber in there to see if I can get it going.

KATO generally will send parts etc. I've heard they want to work through the retailer but with Amazon you may get them to send it directly to you. I've heard they're good about fixing mess-ups.

Good evening folks. Had a rather long day but a really good one. The Train Show was very quiet, it was part of a Downtown Day with a lot of stuff going on outside and the Show's Producers hadn't put any signs out or made any other public announcements. It was their first time doing this, so it was learning all around. One of our new Club members made a fantastic module, lighted and even had a building with an Ad screen built in.Everything ran well and we did have several new folks show interest in TTrak and the club, so it was worth the trip. Picked up some N scale cars and buildings [pics tomorrow as I am not unloading the van tonight.

I figured out why we've started to see relatively more "Oops, an error occurred" messages. If you've stayed logged in on a screen and then come back a while later and hit something like a post or the Bell notifications icon -- if you're Cloudflare verification has expired you get the "oops..." message. A simple refresh will trigger a new verification and you'll be OK again.

My experience with amazon is that they won't bother with the extra work. they'll just throw money away, like they did in this case. Kato doesn't normally respond. Maybe I should go the repair route.

Either way, I put a piece of fiber in and while it isn't 100%, it is much better.

Yep, be sure to copy what you wrote before hitting the refresh as it may go away and you have to type it all in again.

Successfully exorcised the traction tires from my new acquisition. May not pull as many cars, but it still pulls enough, and improves pick up performance.

Oh yeah, that little plate that holds the coupler in place at the top of the pic, went flying when I took it off. It went to my left, so my good eye saw it. It bounced off me and then went to lala land, probably having a meeting with all the left socks. Luckily, the spare truck that I got the extra wheels from had the same plate, so I was able to salvage the project.

Well howdy there internet peeps and those with Fibre in their diets

It's Troy again

Not much to report. Yesterday was a blah health day for both wife and I. Wife is waiting to hear what her new biologic RA drug is going to cost. Assuming her chest xray came back clear. Darn LA smog and mold. Hoping none of it got her while we were out there.

Saturdays are rough on her. Day after she takes the methotrexate, so her energy is sapped.

that documentary I posted last evening about Neil Peart was very informative, with a few jam sessions as Neil's drummer friends jammed with Alex and Geddy to bring a few of Rush's songs to life. And, it ended with an epilogue featuring Anika getting the stool behind the kit.

RIP to another Canadian Rocker, not one that was on my radar, but I'll pull up a few videos to get acquainted with her work.

I can't do the demolition and rearrange right now, but I'm 99% certain I'm going to condense my benchwork down to an U shaped dogbone. Loop for continuous running, with some switching potential.

The more I watch Boomer, and his current crop of lessons, I realize that's a good place for my layout right now. Since I'm considering a move north if I get my Bill C3 lost Canadian status, I don't want to demolish a half-roughed in layout and dumpster it. Keep it manageable, so that if it does hit the dumpster, I can pull off the structures, trees, and other bits and bobs that can transport.

This needs to be something that I can either relocate, or works as the practice run to learn the techniques for a new layout.

So, once the back is in better shape, West peninsula is coming out. I'll be able to move the teeter table back into the area. I'm not using it until the herniated disk heals. and it's just in the way where it is now.
