Good morning all. A day of showers, so not going far. In fact it is time I got back into the train room.

Youngest grandson 'bought me' the tank (on the left). A little overscale, (who cares) but travels well on the layout.

LOUIS -- So very sad for you, Tucker, and the household! Tucker will miss his playmate too!

KARL -- Happy for your new four legged addition. Looks to be a real cutie.

P.S. I miss the two that I lost terribly. I am having a difficult time of NOT looking; however, with my age and increasing immobility - I wonder if it would be wise? Perhaps maybe I should try fostering?

Good Morning all 63° here in the Ozark Foothills going for a high of 89° I’m tired of hot weather. Getting ready to go Dump trucking today I might have a few more months of it then the season ends till spring. Things are so different now with our Daughters getting up and going to work instead of school now soon they will be out on there own where did the time go.

Louis. Sorry for your lost.

Morning all,

Currently 70° and clear going for a high of 85° later. Supposed to get cooler tomorrow to a more seasonal temp. Thunderstorms predicted for late this evening into the overnight, but the weather models have it missing my immediate area. Figures, although the whole state needs rain badly. We're 4" below normal for September.

Louis: Sorry to hear your family member passed.

Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and 69° to start what will probably be our last day of 90°+ temperatures until March. Still have rain in the forecast for tomorrow and Thursday, highs still in the 80's until the weekend. Unseasonably cold from Friday night until Monday morning, highs in the 70's and lows at night around 50°; yes 50°!!! Back to normal on Monday, 60°-85° for the foreseeable future.
While I probably won't need the wood-burning heater this weekend, I do need to sweep the chimney and empty the ashes, which I most likely forgot to do after the last use. Over the summer, I purchased a new chimney brush. this one connects with a portable drill/screwdriver and has a nylon rotary brush attached to a flexible cable. It is inserted in from in the house and pushed up to the top, instead of the old-fashioned one that has to be crammed up and down from rooftop level. Safer and easier for me. Last fall I paid a chimney sweeper $180 to do the job, and saw this device. Found the exact same one on the Internet for under $40. No brainer there. It came with a polyethylene cover to tape over the door opening to keep anything from going in the house.

Today I go for the capsule endoscopy at 9:00. Not sure if they will find anything, but Medicare is paying to ensure that all is well. I fasted an extra 6 hours and took the prep medication early so I wouldn't be up all night. It worked. This is the last step in reassuring that I am in good health other than BP. The pulmonologist, cardiologist, ophthalmologist, vascular surgeon, dermatologist and internist have already all given me a good review. Now it's up to the gastroenterologist to agree. Remember the good old days when only one or two doctors was all that you needed! Other than a presumed follow-up to today's procedure, I have no more scheduled medical appointments until January. Phew! The Medicare paymaster will be happy.

Got home too late yesterday to do any meaningful chores outside, today might be the same. Although I have no restrictions other than no food while that capsule is still floating around inside.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I had a disaster of sorts. I dropped the storage tanks from the oil distributor.

No damage that couldn't be easily repaired, but it took a while. Took impetus out of my day out there.
Prior to that I did add some rudimentary painting on the backdrop and ballasted about 18" of track. I'll pick up there when I get back to it.

Sherrel - To hear my BIL explain the fire was quite amusing as well. He regrets though, selling the whole thing to the insurance company, as he could have made a lot more money if he had handled it himself. But he would also have been responsible for demolishing the house (in a certain time frame) per city fire codes in Dallas. That or put up a security fence around the property. The restoration company made a lot of $$$ recovering their intact but smoke/water damaged possessions that remained.
Patrick - I guess that congratulations are in order for the raise. I was fortunate enough to be able to divert most raises into the 401k plan, which eventually allowed me to retire early (63).
Lee - Nice looking truck. Do you own it or is a company truck?
Tom O - Fishing in the dark that far off shore? Haven't they ever heard of the Edmund Fitzgerald???;)
Your daughter's venture. Out of money! Well it's a non-profit isn't it???
Louis - Very sad to read about Sophie. I know how attached you were to her.

I've lost track of all of the birthdays and anniversaries recently, so if I missed any, have a happy one.
Today is National Techies Day, so let's wish Patrick and any others a good day. A couple of notable musical birthday's today, the late Texan Stevie Ray Vaughan, would have been 69 today. Lindsay Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac is 74 today.

Off I go to the procedure. Everyone have a great day.

Out on the water in the dark was spooky to me. The girls loved it caught a few things too small to keep. We were lit up like a Christmas tree and not in the lanes the freighters or ore carriers use. They were another couple miles out. Says because it’s a week nite there isn’t many local boaters out. Says on Friday, Saturday or Sunday nights she wouldn’t think of anchoring where we were. So many night boaters don’t use lights! The water was wonderful maybe 2’ swells that on Lake Michigan means very calm. I am in the back seat as we are heading to the Art Institute of Chicago. We dropped a car off at the Metra lot in Kenosha as Pat will take the train back to the boat. We will drive her from the Art Institute to the Oligvie Transportation Center

I dropped a couple dry bin grain tanks a few months ago. Luckily they landed on a rug instead of cement floor. Enjoy the day chimney sweeping!

I looks huge to the others. :D
Apparently it is a model of a German tank, whilst the others are British. ?

It's an M109 155mm self propelled howitzer.

Originally an American vehicle, it is or has been used by much of the free (and not so free non-communist) world. Many countries have since retired it for newer model vehicles.

TomO - That makes two of us. I don't recall how large the boat is that you were talking about; however, at night, I'm not comfortable with being on anything of less size than an Aircraft Carrier!
My son had a 36 foot sailboat off of Marina Del Rey and I was on it a few times. One late afternoon/night we headed to Catalina and the last 15 miles, thereabouts, was very foggy and dark.
I was not a relaxed deckhand!

Well, howdy there internet peeps

Nothing much to report here. Having broccoli cheddar soup with bacon bits for lunch.

need to get my words worded this afternoon. since I spent the morning getting my army of night stalkers ready for the Michigan Grand Prix (at the Michigan GT gaming convention) in Lansing this weekend.
