Going to church early tomorrow then off to the Poughkeepsie NY train show at 10am. I hope someone there will have some Tomar crossing gates I can buy.

I sure like that fence.
That's a lot more to scale than the Woodland Scenics chain link fencing. And it is probably a lot easier to make than my scratchbuilt tulle and metal post fencing. Who is the manufacturer again? So I don't have to scroll back 25 pages!
You'll find it when you buy the new one.Still the ruler is missing. But I found a couple details crawling around the floor with a spotlight. I believe I have some gnomes visiting, what else can it be.
Yes, the garbage bag next to the bench was checked
I'll be going to Trainfest at State Fair Park in West Allis(Milwaukee County) on the 12th. SWMBO couldn't get time off from work(go figure- it's a weekend in mid-November and she works at Wally World), so Mom is willing to drive me there. They didn't hold this show the past 2 years because of the 'vid.Going to church early tomorrow then off to the Poughkeepsie NY train show at 10am. well at least you did not use it to open the window!Good evening. It's cloudy and 60.
A few days ago, for my sins, I managed to be gifted an Apple computer.
After a few days of using it, I'm remembering why I stepped away from these machines.
While it technically works okay, I keep getting a nag every five minutes or so, demanding I upgrade my account security.
Since I was nearly forced to throw a perfectly good almost new iMac in the trash when my wife died because of two factor authentication, I refuse to willingly subject myself to that process again.
And therein seems to lie the problem. Every five minutes, there is a big red notification of a problem with my computer. The problem is, I haven't enabled two factor authentication on this device. I have to log in, enter my password--twice--, then click "other options", then click "don't upgrade security", then repeat a second time, then I can close the notification.
Five minutes later, the notification is back.
I think I'll turn off the computer, unplug it, and put it in a drawer until I'm feeling masochistic.
My sons worked out the lawnmower and the tractors went faster in reverse even with a trailer behind, so whizzing down the curved tracks in reverse became a thing. and yet both as adults have managed car accidents going forwardsAfternoon all,
Lunch is done as is the laundry for now. Still have some more to do tomorrow. Gotta cleanup the kitchen yet. I spent yesterday afternoon "mowing".

He actually did a decent job and paid attention to the old man directing him. The first pic was him learning to handle the machine in the back yard. All driving and no blades. I had it set for 1/2 speed. Then I did the edges and let him go, directing him to his overlap line. Wanted him to learn earlier in the season, but he had issues being a little short. He's old enough at 12 2/3 years old.
He was all smiles.
It was every 5 minutes. I had to sign in, decline the security upgrade, then sign in again immediately, and decline the upgrade again. The notification would close, then pop back up in 5-7 minutes, and I'd have to do it again.Church

O believe if you can cope with turning off the notification for 21 days that your brain no longer reacts negatively to it, how long does the notification switching off take,a small chore a day like getting your teeth brushed may be worth it, or not.
Patrick- if you use any Microsoft apps remotely for work or school, MFA is the chosen method of verification yet.Morning all,
Another day above the dirt. 48° and clear going for 68° later. Hope to get some trains later.
Terry: Unfortunately the 2FA crap is going to get worse. Seeing what the insurance companies are going to require their insureds to have, IMO we're moving backwards. We're moving that now. Would have been better to not open up our systems to work from home.
Good very dark morning. Between 6 and 7 during summer and with daylight I like doing my walk outside. But even at 7AM the sun has not risen so it’s dark and I‘m not going to walk out there. I hate the treadmill but did my 2 miles on it and currently I am relaxing. Because I walked I will do 30 minutes worth of laps in the pool. The granddaughter will be here per the SIL at 9:45 as the grandson has his final 2 soccer games yesterday. The g/s season opener hockey was a loss. 3-4 with the grandson getting 3 assists but no shots on goal.
The g/d is bringing a friend who also is DS but her (over protective, but I get it) mom will be here while the girls play in the pool. She’ll leave after lunch. Then about 6 we will have a cookout with my Endocrinologist’s hubby’s grandkids, the grandson and a friend and maybe the daughter back from the hockey mom’s weekend out. Maybe 12 people. Hopefully it does reach the predicted high 60’s so I can slide the pool doors open and combine my outside deck and the pool deck. I have never done that this late in the season.
I guess I made a comment at the stables yesterday to the manager she didn’t like. I asked her since the employee group wasn‘t buying the stables is she searching for a new job yet! Terry called me, asking me what I was thinking. I told her she would have needed to be here to understand the context. Besides, I don’t really care if I upset anyone in the stable group.
After experimenting twice this week with a beer at dinner (New Glarus Spotted Cow) my Blood Glucose rises too high and lingers too long. 217 at midnight and 147 at 5:20 this morning. So back to an occasional sip or 2 of Terry’s beer. Not a big deal but I do like the Spotted Cow. Removing the Gliperzide from my medicine intake has been another new adjustment and learning faze.
I need to swim
enjoy the day

That's the direction that a lot of software is going. Ya have to pay a subscription fee to use it on a periodic basis. On top of that, you're operating system software updates will lock out the use of legacy software so it won't even start. Either pay the fee or regress to pencil and paper. It was every 5 minutes. The biggest part of it was, as long as I wasn't currently signed in, things like email wouldn't work. And of course, in reality, some email would, some wouldn't. My yahoo and gmail would work, but my Apple emails would not.
Everything is working as I would expect for now, Apple seems to think it was a permissions issue between my account settings and the new OS (Ventura) that was causing it.
BTW, the Apple person said they had come up with a workaround to get back into a 2FA-locked device, though it involves providing proof of ownership of the device, and takes something like 2 weeks to process.
