The problem seems to be the operating system. It's an older version of android. Purely speculation on my part.

I was disappointed the Lionel apps are not available for the kindle. I was so disappointed I went as far as to contact Amazon Kindel tech support and customer service. They took a report and were to pass it up to development. Six months later; still no Lionel Apps.

Microsoft office works on my Kindel and that is what I use most. That also makes it easy to access, save and organize online manuals.
I use Word Perfect office...no annual subscription. Works fine on my PC, not sure if I can load it on to the Fire and it's O/S, but it's not likely.
I don't think any of the Java based programing tools will work either. Kindle fire is a real diaspointment, content wide, although it's great for reading books, something I don't do enough.

It looks like both our teams will make it to the world series!

The Astros are the most balanced and best managed team.

On the other hand, the Yankees have two 300 hitters and a top reliever on the injury list. One of those hitters is one of the very best in MLB. Experts are whining about depth. Not even the Yankees have a bench to replace two 300 hitters.

I doubt the Yankees could get past Houston with no injuries.

The Washington Wizards are 2-0!
When I last looked, the Yankees and Houston were tied 4-4. Philadelphia is so ecstatic, there might not be any shootings tonight.
Giants, Jets and Ravens all won, Flyers Lost, Islanders lost, Rangers Lost.

Depth: Talent is spread so thinly, there is no depth. All Injuries are critical, especially with pitching.

Houston - Phillies series will be cool. Don't sell the Phightin Phils short when it comes to completeness and management. When they fired Girardi, they began to play baseball. Thy are a pretty complete team. Thomson is a good manager...

I have been pumping my own gas since I turned 16 in 1968, no accidents of my own, never saw anyone else have an accident or even an overfill

Only time I have experienced "overfill" is when the pump sensor didn't work and do the shutoff. A minimum wage worker filling it for me at the same pump would have had the same issue.

I've heard in Oregon you can pump diesel yourself but not gasoline due to a loophole in the law (the way it was written)... A tidbit I learned when I owned and drove a VW TDI.

Friday my son and brother in law used some Liquid Rubber foundation waterproofing to go over all the seams in our membrane waterproofing as well as places on the footings that were not covered well by the membrane. The BIL also ground down some concrete in a window and other misc things. The daughter and I used Semco liquid membrane on the porch "sub floor" with as well as the corners and the seams using a waterproof seam fabric and the BIL and I did a second coat over the porch in the evening by battery operated light as it was supposed to get wet on Saturday.

Saturday morning it sprinkled a little and my BIL and I tried to use the waterproof seam fabric on the porch edge (wrap over) but it was too windy though we did get a coat on the edge and side anyway without the fabric. We also cut back the 5" sheet metal penetration we used for the dryer vent in the basement and stuck the final 4" vent pipe through it, using pieces of foam to kind of suspend it in the middle of the 5" pentrating tube. We then used spray foam on each end to seal and support it. We also used this Zip System stretch flash tape stuff on the window sill and around the dryer vent (placed in the dryer vent and stretched out over the side of the external wall. The final dryer vent cover has a male plug that slides in by friction to the 4" pipe so it should be good with the stretch flash membrane stuff. (Hard to explain).

We went home for lunch as it started to rain and I made a hotwire apparatus to cut scrap foam left over from the basement walls into thinner sections to be used to augment the insulation in the existing top layer of foam -- I have purchased sheets that slide into dovetails inside the foam blocks for the upper layers but the existing first layer is half full of concrete and the dovetails inside are all fouled and full so I am just gluing in a 1 3/4" scrap along the outside to make the insulation thicker (the purchased ones for higher are 2").

We went back up and, as the main subfloor above has not had the edges sealed up nor seams treated in any way, a lot of water was dripping down into the basement, but we moved things around we didn't want to get wet and set up shop. My son and BIL used the "sawz-all" type saw to cut away the plastic webbing from the wall scraps we had saved and I used the hot wire to shave them down. We did that a while and then my son had to leave and the BIL and I went to my storage units to offload his van. Thursday an Old Dominion truck came with a large heavy pallet of stuff. I thought enough stuff was backordered for the Zehnder mechanical ventilation system that it wouldn't ship right away but 3/4 of it shipped and was dropped on the street. Except the unit itself and a very large box that weighed maybe 15 lbs full of an extruded plastic foam type pipe segment for the air input and output, all the rest was loaded into my BIL's van and Saturday we took it out to storage facility.

While we were hot wiring the foam Saturday it turned from rain to snow (pic of porch with snow). But by that evening all the snow had melted. Only to be replaced today, Sunday, by more snow. I went with my daughter to a neighbor on the next street over so she could feed their pets while away and you can see that it was snowing a bunch...

Tomorrow (Monday) it is supposed to be sunny and up into the low 40s. Wednesday more precipitation and then a week of party cloudy and up into the high 50s. I am hoping that the weather is good enough to acrylic coat the area around the window before they install the window well, since that will be the exposed area below grade and needs a good layer of protection. (A thick acrylic "stucco" with reinforcing polyester or nylon or fiberglass mesh of some sort).

Had a friend, Brian Allen, post pictures of Holy Hill Balsilca last week. The credit on each photo.

I have been there in the Spring but will make sure we get there next Fall.View attachment 154239View attachment 154240
Thanks for sharing these, Tom. I've seen it in the distance, driving from Oconomowoc to Richfield, but never that close up. Looks beautiful with the fall colors.

In rural parts of OR, they do have some self-service stations. The part I hated about NJ's full service law was if you were at a larger station, like a SuperWawa with 12+ pumps, sometimes you could tell the attendant what you wanted, go in, grab a cuppa coffee & a bagel, come out and still have to wait for the attendant.

Good morning, all. A pretty nice day on tap. It is warming up again, however the humidity is down. I have a few monthly chores to do day. chlorine in septic system, test run the generator and I think the well is water logged. Not a lot happening on the layout.

Go Astros

It sure seems like there is a wordy bunch in the diner this morning. So let me add.

Three model railroaders go to a train show. It was a large show and they stayed late. Rather than drive home they decided to go to a hotel. The desk clerk told them there was only one room left at $30. Each of the modelers came up with $10. A few hours later the clerk realized he had over charged the men and called the bellboy. "I over charged those model railroader, please bring this $5 up to them". The bellboy, on the way up, thought that the three modelers couldn't split the $5,, so he pocketed $2, giving each modeler $1. So now each modeler had paid $9 dollars for the room.
So, if 3 x $9 =$27, plus the $2 dollars in the bellboy's pocket = $29, where is the thirtieth dollar?
I have not read the answer if there is any. They have to pay 25 dollar (30-5). that's 8 dollar 33 cent each (25/3). And not 9 dollar each (10 - 1 dollar)

Right, paperwork all done for the return trip, French Police are a real PIA though, list of stuff I'm bringing back, checked, double checked, had to make a statement, as to why, wherefore I was bringing Dave's stuff back, got it all official now.

Sent group round to The Louvre and the Eiffel tower, by foot,(they were not impressed) but out my way for a while so I can get this all done.

The bags are all loaded, contacted the group leader, pick up at the Eiffel in an hour and a bit, then homeward bound, hopefully no drama, except for the chunnel.
Good luck with all this. The family will have a struggle to get the body back. I hope to never die ;) but when it does happen pls in my own country. Glad he did not have a stroke behind the steering wheel...

177 dollar for a car?? Does it have a DCC motor inside somehow?? This is crazy.

Afternoon All,

Well yesterday s****d. The drive to Tampa was beyond ridiculous with multiple accidents, many slowdowns and very heavy traffic. :( After getting to the fairgrounds where the FL Skunk Rescue🦨 was set up my job was lifting a skunk out of the playpen and hand it to a person on a chair that had paid $2 to hold a skunk (rescue fundraiser). I did this for 3.5 hours until my back said enough. On the way home there was only 1 accident and when we finally got past I-75 we could finally do highway speed the rest of the way home.

I made 2 videos today. I couldn't get my camera to work (of course) so I used my cell phone so you can guess the quality.

Todd- Great looking tractor.

Mikey- Congrats on your recognition.

James- Beautifully weathered cars.

George- The bridge looks great so far. It took me 3 days doing prep work before I was ready to connect everything together.

Willie- Nice layout scenes. Great idea for the capstan.

Guy- Very ingenious. Nice 1:1 photo.

Dennis- Nice video.

TomO- Everything is PC now. It's a way special interest groups have of trying to control us.

Hughie- Good for your wife.

Patrick- You're prepared if you ever need to solve 1x +2x= 15x in an math emergency.😂

Dave- Great picture perspective.

Well I would post the videos but they have disappeared even after I verified they were there when I uploaded them. I F-ng give up.

Later.
Have you been to Orlando and see the new line from the airport to town?? We went to Orlando on a train trip from New Orleans, before the hurricane destroyed so much. Great trip! And nice little RR (Florida Central, with GP-7's at that time)

On saterday I went to Apeldoorn. Being a biologist I hoped to see some nice fungi. It was great apart from a close escape not falling into the water of a canal (wonder if I could have been able to get out by myself, wet and dirty). But stopping for a nice fungus did get me into the gras (falling of my bike). Not hurt apart from my ego!!!😂
