Good luck with all this. The family will have a struggle to get the body back. I hope to never die ;) but when it does happen pls in my own country. Glad he did not have a stroke behind the steering wheel...
I've known drivers to continue driving while suffering a stroke, a Heart attack is far more serious.
When I had my stroke it took me 20 mins to decide I needed help, another 45 minutes for the ambulance to arrive, (and then they made me walk to the ambulance), 20 min drive to hospital, then 30 mins waiting in the ambulance, because of Covid, 30 mins later had a stent in and was on the ward.
Not my best day.

As for getting the body returned, British Embassy is dealing with that.

That's what happens when you take the tinfoil off your head. Big Tech(& Big Brother) starts reading your mind- often before you even think the thoughts that you thought you thunk.
I got a call from Shanghai yesterday. No one I know or ever knew there. This ZTE phone was gifted to me at no cost by Consumer Cellular when they decided I had to upgrade to a 4G.

A couple of years back I was shopping on line one day and placed an order. About ten seconds later I got a call from Chase Fraud, asking if I had just placed two purchases--at the same moment--to two bookstores in China. Uhhh....no, I hadn't. I ordered a jacket for X-mas for my niece...I thought.

I don't put ANY personal information on this phone, other'n single names in the directory. Joe, Fred, etc. and their numbers. No apps. No email, and certainly no banking. Based on that call up above alone, I'm sure the CCP already has a file on me. But I don't intend to help them add to it.

Good Grief. Today's most overused word in advertising and marketing would have to be: "Tactical."

Next thing you know I'll be able to buy "tacticle" skivvies. For one night stands, I guess. As opposed to "strategic." Where you are looking more at the long run and might want to ask her for her hand.

The internet is sometimes overrated. "Too much info," as it were.

I have been pumping my own gas since I turned 16 in 1968, no accidents of my own, never saw anyone else have an accident or even an overfill
Self serve has been in Texas since at least 1971. I used to fill up my VW Beetle back then. I have seen young ladies get back in and start to chat with others in the car, and drive off with the nozzle still in the tank. The auto cut-off reacted as soon as it hit the ground.

Flo!!! I distinctly asked for decaf! Why can't I sleep?

So...anyway...and this probably belongs in the "What are you listening right NOW?" thread...

...I'll ask here: Best LP/CD album cover in your opinion? CD guys are are, by definition, at a disadvantage. CD covers are so small you almost need (well I would) a magnifying glass.

But there is one classic I have in mind. And it is not "Candy-O."

I have not read the answer if there is any. They have to pay 25 dollar (30-5). that's 8 dollar 33 cent each (25/3). And not 9 dollar each (10 - 1 dollar)
Technically you'd be correct, that the $25 split 3 ways would be $8.33 and the change would have been $1.66 each. But in the clue, each man spent $10 and was only given the $1 of his change back. The bellboy stole, (ok kept for himself) $2 of the change. The whole question is actually a logic puzzle. The question of where the additional dollar went when you added the $27 spent by the men and the $2 the bellboy took only added to $29. There was an initial $30, so a dollar was missing, which in fact it wasn't.

Morning all,

A wee bit of rain in the air this morning, while nice, isn't expected to be much. 69° and cloudy going for a temperature drop to 56° later this afternoon.

I did some trains yesterday, so I'll post the couple of pics I took. on my work. Mostly ran trains and cleaned my modeling station as I just couldn't get motivated yesterday. Going to be busy as we're half staffed again.

My sister had one of those, known as a TIA. She said the whole visual image turned 90 degrees left, instantly, but she fought the jeep to one side of the four lane road. Called 911, but by the time they got there things had leveled back out. Saw a friend who was an (X-ray type) image diagnosis Doctor the next day who said "this is the kind of thing thing that's not uncommon to people under stress."

Thank the stars for "autopilot."

Wow! OK, no more Dr Who for me then, I was watching the box in the corner at the time, who knew watching TV could be so stressful? :D

Snowman: Last year or so I purchased a camera system. The dvr plugged into my network and all of the cameras connected to the dvr via wifi. I just happened to have my network router dumping packets to a screen as I was checking something else out and had not closed it yet. Low and behold as soon as I powered up the dvr, it started sending packets. IP looked strange as I was not used to it. Search on arin.net sent me to ripe.net and I found out the ip was based in ShangHai. So I powered it down, then powered it up again with the same results. Can you say 'call home' software? Some of the packets going out were pretty large so I suspect that someone in China has some pix of the inside of my shop. End result is that I changed the packet filter on the firewall to not allow ANY ip from that dvr to go out over my internet connection. And because I am paranoid about this sort of stuff, I blocked the TV's, Alexis, Seri and and the other do gooder that I can not remember the name of just now no matter whom and/or where it was made. Well except for the ip's of the remote hosts they talk to as that is needed to work proper, but they do not call anybody else.

Good morning from a wet but still warm Wisconsin. Rained starting around 8 last night and through the night. Predictions on where you lived was up to an inch by noon today. The claim is we should see mid 70’s today.

The wife is optimistic her Packers will still finish the season great. The son was thrilled last night as his Austin FC (soccer) made it to the conference finals. I see my BlackHawks have now won 3 games so far. Seriously, some of the preseason experts thought they might only have 3 wins by Xmas. The NHL like the NFL has many of its top players injured. It just seems to me there are more of the major stars getting hurt but the statistics say injuries are down so far this season in both sports. It’s the media because of sports betting keeping us informed even of the hang nail injury! Happily since I have always been a Yankee hater as a team, they lost. Over the years of course they continually have those star players but as a team, nope, hate’m. I watched a couple innings and had to shut the announcers off. Left the screen on.

I think I need a day trip. Maybe the CP yard in Milwaukee next to the casino. I need some of my own photos of railcar ends. But no, not in the rain today. There will be time today at the bench and then who knows…

enjoy the day

The only thing non military that I learned as tactical, was a tactical withdrawal from an argument with the wife. :D

Ahhhhh, Monday morning. Daughter is running in circles tryin to find her youngest daughter who snuck out early this morning. Not at school. She snuck out the back door to avoid the Ring monitor at the front door.
Same kind of stuff she was doing when she was an adolescent. I told her she could only wait until the daughter showed up then create a major stink about the kid who picked her up so she would never want to talk to her again. That was my tactic when I had to figure out where she ran off too when she was a kid.

I'm just as paranoid, although there is also that saying: "Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they AREN'T out to get you."

I'm going to buy a Samsung phone and ditch this POC (they might be good at spying, but their phones are utter Cr*p). I'm not sure if that will make things more secure or not, but at least, and based on my past experience, the Samsung should actually work.

If this POC ZTE is any indicator, the CCP could invade Taiwan tomorrow...and have its entire navy sunk by three men in a small rowboat. The three having just one paddle.

Good morning, it is a balmy 63° in east central Minnesota, temp is going down from here, however, supposed to be highs around 50 for the rest of the week.

Tom - Started raining here about 9 PM we had a little thunder and lightning. I hope we get an inch, it has been pretty dry lately our big pond is down about a foot.

We finished pouring the car port and apron, sidewalk, the last "major" project for me on our house. Wife has a to do list of improvements we may get to next year, for now it will be just firewood cutting and piling branches.

Here is the carport just after the wet concrete has been poured and before running the bull float: (we used the fiber reinforced concrete, was $155 per yard, entire cost was more due to additives, fuel surcharge, tax:

Wife went to work and put the bear on the layout, she found a good spot:

Good Morning All!
37F @ 91% - the winter weather warning yesterday went away. Was supposed to be for the next 3 or 4 days?

Started the weathering process on the blue thing. Only played for about 2 hours and got the barn cleaned out so now there is somewhere to keep her out of the rain and snow. Gonna try and get the new spot for the RV cleared out today, rain depending. Get to use other mechanical stuff ...aka.... power tools to get rid of a couple small trees before, then 10 yards of gravel of which I will use some for the RV spot.

Blue thing works pretty good. Only issue I have found so far is that the fuel peg is to close to the brakes and I end up with my toe pushing them down slightly. Seat is all the way back so it probably is just me. Runs pretty quiet even when I have my ears in.

Dave: Nice job on the pour! Are those posts 8x8? If so, you really get good snow don't ya.

Really interesting, a Roundhouse car! I understand the collector thing. But my liberal upbringing tells me Eric should be ashamed of letting this go so far. That said, happily my conservative business side says capitalism is alive and well in Model Railroading and there truly is nothing wrong with that. More power to Eric!
It's the "Fame Factor". If you're a huge Utah Belt fanboy, have at it. I saw some of Allen McClelland's old V&O stuff hit e-Bay some time back, and it went for stupid money. Crude modeling by today's standards. You could still see the Pennsy stripes showing through the blue paint on the E unit. I myself happen to own one of Dick Truesdale's SP Fire Train models painted and lettered for his "Halfhollow & Huntington" railroad. I paid market price for the model at the time, no "fame factor" surcharge. He has some fame factor being the guy behind Westside Models. I was put in touch with him by a painting client & mutual friend. Nice guy, since passed on. I was going to strip and repaint it prototypically, but then I saw some of his stuff at a brass show BrassTrains put on a couple of years back. They made a big deal about it, so I kept it as is. Sentimental value. 🤷‍♂️. Maybe someday someone will offer me a ton for it. :) It's in the photo gallery here somewhere, but here it is again. From the days when model railroads had a much higher dose of whimsy than they do today.
