Troy that's how it should be connected only when heat called for Never on the fan setting Should have been a connection on the board in the furnace for that
All the wiring should be right there on the furnace

And AprilAire are fine just make sure you change the water pad each year They tend to get limed up and also have a chemical coating that only lasts for about a year and do you have a humidity sensor on it ?? Should be mounted on the cold air return something like one of these
I just switched our AprilAire to Winter mode and cleaned the water pad 10/1 when I switched the heating system on. It only runs when the humidity goes down below 30, I think. I’d have to check the settings in the manual. The air conditioning unit has the AprilAire unit attached because the house is radiant heat, the A/C has the duct work so they put the humidifer on that.

I have some for the construction site, but the track workmen are all unpainted, and I'll never learn anything if all I do is buy everything pre-made or painted am I ?
Anything close up I use pre painted figures, background hand painted.
In the Town that the property we live on is at says throw everything in the garbage bin as it’s easier now for the sorters to separate stuff at the dump.

Both use the same County wide dump!
I highly doubt they separate stuff in the dump.

When ya go light on the water that would normally go down the drain, your pipes will begin clogging. Not enough water to push stuff out to the main sewer line or to the septic tank.
Ya don't know it until there's a month or so of flushings in the pipes. Each subsequent flush will fill the pipes and just gradually drain or soak through the blockage but not back up all the way to the drain where you would see it. When it eventually does breach your kitchen sink drain, no amount of plunging is gonna move a month or so worth of stuff.
Low flush toilets, low flow washing machines and other low flow stuff is causing problems in the sewer main due to not enough water to push the paper and Lincoln logs down the line. Baby wipes are another problem.

My Pacifica tells me which one, and gives me a graphic showing all four tires and their pressures. It's nice but I usually end up airing all four tires up a little anyway. Then there's the day it will finally fail. Wonder how much that'll cost me?
My 2016 Equinox LTZ does as well. 3 tires at 29lbs and the 4th at 31. All at 35 now.

With tonight's freeze, I got the sprinkler system shut down. Took me 20 minutes. The sprinkler companies get a minimum of $100 just to put an air compressor in the line and blow the water out of the lines. In 2003, I bought the compressor save money. Paid for itself in 4 years, and I still have the compressor for other things.

yep. We have the humidistat. And there were reasons the furnace guy was cussing.

And having it connected on all the time... thinking back to what the furnace guy said: if the humidstat was triggered, it ran no matter if heat or fan was on.

New pad is on the Mendard's run. they do carry them there. Been purchasing a new one each year, even if I didn't use it much.

As for what else is going wrong:
snow.jpg

weather guessers said it would be "a trace" and wouldn't stick. It's now (since an hour ago) covering the back patio... Pictured is the front walk to the pool

Good evening. 60°, cloudy, breezy and very damp. According to NWS Radar, we should be getting some considerable rain in about a half hour. Once this front passes, and the wind changes, the temperature will drop into the low 40s.

When it comes to trash and recycles, we have drastically reduced the amount of waste we generate. I no longer get print newspapers and accept digital magazines when available as an alternative. It's easier to save them on the hard drive. Most cardboard comes from shipping containers, we save a few to reuse, and recycle the rest. Instead of bottled water, we use Brita filtered pitchers and real glass tumblers. Beer consumption is seasonal, and pretty much restricted to aluminum cans which are crushed and recycled. I don't compost, because the town doesn't allow it. Too many NIMBYs object to the smells of nature....

Just like everything else, we can do better probably for lower cost if the current method didn't benefit someone with connections.

Tom O': There is a large recycling facility in Newark, adjacent to Conrail's NK Interlocking. They actually sorted stuff and shipped it to various vendors, the port and the dump. Now, a lot goes on the Unit Garbage trains to Southern landfills. Our county wants to build a transfer station in a remote part of our town, through a "private" operator. There is a small but vocal NIMBY opposition, Ironically, from the more Progressive faction of the local political spectrum.

My April Aire probably needs to be replaced. The control unit doesn't work as intended, and sometimes doesn't shut off when the furnace fan stops. It was off most of last winter, after two incidents of flooding. Furnace guy is coming Friday, for annual maintenance, so I will call it to his attention.

Curt: Unfortunately, you're right.

Ken (VA):
Great video...I used to enjoy the displays at Timonium. Haven't been there for years. Fortunately, I don't use Septic, we have sewers.

Yes if the humidistat was triggered then if it's connected to the fan then it would run if either heat or fan turned on so needs to connect to heat setting sounds like your furnace guy got it fixed

Not sure why it would stay on shouldn't be able to the valve runs on 24 volt from the furnace The only thing I can think of is the water valve was sticking open very likely Those valves some won't last two years So you might just need that replaced cheaper then the whole unit

Mike: Staying on is just a guess. With a new, properly installed, properly seated filter, and an otherwise properly working furnace system, that is my latest guess for something that mysteriously happens once a year over the past 3, and three times last year. There was not a whole lot of water but enough that I had to squeegee it to the french drain. A new water valve would be cheaper than a whole unit. I'll see what the tech thinks when he gets here Friday. Thanks for the heads up.

@ Bruette, post #777: Haven't logged in for a few days, and I am so sorry to hear about your loss. You have my most sincere condolences. I had hoped you might have had more time together, and I'm sad to hear it wasn't to be. But maybe still there were some good moments in the last days.

I was talking, not two hours ago with a gal I've known since grade-school who tends a local bar about my dad's passing, and as difficult as it was then, there were a few special moments--"gifts"--given to me during that time. I won't ever forget them.

I hope you were gifted too, in whatever came your way during it all. It wouldn't surprise me if you were--souls and higher powers can do that. I'm firmly convinced of it.

Probably in your standard set, between 3/8 and 7/16...
BTW, happy birthday. I think it was over the weekend.
@MikeInHubCity, post #879: Well, it was obviously dam*ed...er..."danged"...to the lower realms. That's why you can't find it.

Check the deepest, "bottomest" sump in your tool box. Down where the oldest oil and rusty water reside.

You know: Murphy an' all....

Hey Everybody,

We are doing ok. Our faith assures us my Mom is in heaven. We are relieved her suffering is over.

The hardest part of all this was to see her suffer, trapped in a bed and we could do nothing to help her. She was independent right up until last Monday morning when she called us to take her to the emergency room.

Since my sister passed away in 2007 and my Mom moved close to me, I always made her my priority. I did/fixed whatever she needed, usually the same day she asked. She often said "you don't have to do it today. I don't want to be a pain" You could never be a pain Mom.

I miss her, I knew for the last two years the end was near. She lived a good life. She worked hard, sometimes two or even three jobs. and always did her best. One of the things she told me in the last days was "you did not always get everything you wanted but you always had what you needed." I replied, "and much more" Her example is where I get my work ethic. Thank you Mom.

There have been a lot of tears and there will be more. She was a big part of our everyday life. We are reminded of her in many things we see and do each day. My wife and my Mom were remarkably close. I told the hospice nurse "I am her security blanket, my wife is her best friend"

Thank you, God, for such a wonderful mother.

One other possible and I had one do this the valve was ok but the drain line got enough lime deposits in it and got plugged up so had water dripping out from the unit Not sure which model you have but check that drain line Most are clear tubing if it is plugged up just replace it

Well...there you go. You said it just the way it should be said. And she sure did too: "you did not always get everything you wanted but you always had what you needed." Wow!

That ^^^ is one of YOUR gifts, given you. At least in my humble opinion.

=========

She would be proud of you now, I think, and quoting you: "Thank you, God, for such a wonderful mother."

I am going to remember this--your simple words. Because I will need them--we will need them, both of us, my little sister and I too--before too much longer.

So, and shifting gears....and though I'm still thinking about souls (see posts to and from Bruette above)...

-----------

I'm going to toss an idea out here onto the table. The idea being that there is an intelligent design (behind life), and human existence. Argue religion, books, bibles as you will...but they are not the point...even if they might fit in, or even be the cause of all of it.

Right about now most of you or all of you are choking down the last bits of bacon, slurping up the last drabs of coffee in your mugs, and racing for the exits. Unfortunately Flo can't. "Oh Flo...could I have some..........................decaf............over here?"

But this actually isn't so hard. All you have to do is read it for yourselves. Just three pages, as I recall: The book is Bill Bryson's "A Short History of Nearly Everything." Not sure of how many printings there are, or how many pages, so just turn to the chapter entitled "The Rise of LIfe"...and read the first three pages or so up until the word "Wow!"

Now in just those few pages, Bryson wasn't TRYING to prove the existence of an intelligence behind the design of life--and our lives--but I think, and despite his later efforts to defuse and refute his own first point--I think he did. If only mathematically, I still, really do, think he did.

"Oh Flo....pancakes. With extra butter. No, don't just double it. No, don't just triple it. Slather it on with a shovel."

"Yeah.... There you go. And a BIG tip for you."
