She was in therapy for many years due to childhood abuse issues (TMI?) reached "therapy overload" and insisted I go. That is where I was diagnosed with PTSD also woke me up to what I was putting up with. We are both broken so probably a good match, we have been married 28 years.

I thought it was normal not to talk in the family, never had a conversation with Mom or Dad, built up a "bit" of resentment. Family of 7. Dad first lieutenant in Occupation then Korea, his children became the troops. I left home at age 18, got kicked out of the family when I was 24. I Still showed up for some stuff but of course things were always awkward.

Afternoon All,

I ended up not going with the wife today for set up since it was obviously turning into a shopping trip with her friend from SC. Instead I did a couple of chores then worked on the IR sensors (4 sets of 2). I had to remove the existing resistor on the emitters and replace them with what is required for the tomar signals then soldered on the extension wires. I mounted the logic board onto a piece of hang down wood. Tomorrow I'll be at the skunk show all day so Sunday I plan on soldering on resistors and extensions on the Tomar signal leads. Talk to you all on Sunday.

Jaz- THat seems like a small opening for a fireplace.

George- Very nice job on the gate.

TomO- Nice looking steamer.

Ken D&J- Enjoy the show.

I hope everyone has a good night.

I am underwhelmed by Trader Joe's
Guess it depends on what you are comparing it to. We found that some of their products are quite good, and generally not available at ShopRite or Acme. Also, I can do a weeks shopping there for anywhere from $20 to $40 less than either Acme (Albertsons) or ShopRite.
BTW, Kroger announced a takeover, (merger?), with Albertsons, so if approved, less competition. I do prefer Traders to Aldi or Lidl also.

Ah not to send to me,because I won’t give my address, I wanted a wagon that is photographed at Goathland I had helped an Australian modeller get his layout up to speed with hint and how to for Goathland and he sourced 2 said once was for me and I was like ahhh errr no sorry no can do, and I really really wanted the wagon but nope no address no real name.
But I seriously appreciate the thought, big hug.
Errmmm, did I say he was looking to find one for you mmmmmm :D

Wonder if you don't mean Safeway? Albertson's and Safeway merged a few years back with each store keeping the original name and Safeway as the corp entity. Well, at least that is how I remember it. You now see doubles sometimes with different logo's or a Safeway day cab pulling an Albertson's refer -or- vs-a-vs.

Being European I have a few requests to the USA guys out here (and there).
Could you pls go to the metric system, Celsius instead of Fahrenheit and understand that Football is 2 teams, 1 round ball, 2 goals and its done by kicking the ball with your foot (or head)??? That would make modelling a lot easier you know, I would understand that with 40 degrees its hot (!!) and we could talk about our favorite teams. ;)

I love your thinking, but I doubt our cousins across the pond would agree. :)

Good Afternoon All!
73F in Libby

I actually read one of the ads that came up:

The claim in part is 'off All Sizes' --- hmmm, what about a few of the trees in my backyard that have 36" dia trunks ( bols as Dave calls them )? Wondering minds just need to know...

Concrete guy came out this morning and guesstimated garage pad and another pad around 10K. Want to try and get-r done before winter hits. Spring will bring higher concrete costs - about $190 a yard right now.... We agree we are in for nice weather for a couple of weeks, so it could happen.

Ground guy is supposed to be here tomorra so we can see what he thinks.

The meter between Kroger and Albertson's sounds like a bigger deal than it really is. Combined the #2 and #3 only account for 13% of all groceries. The real 1200 lb gorilla accounting for 25% is the chain we love to hate...Walmart. It may actually lead to a bit cheaper groceries. I don't knowingly have stock in any of the 3 unless they are in my 401k funds.

Todd: No this hit the financial wires this morning Kroger + Albertsons pending anti-trust approval of DOJ. 25% of stores will be sold off or closed in areas where both chains are competitors.

But 2 and 3 are looking for the economies and buying power that 13% gives them vs. 7% and 6%, in order to compete better with the likes of Wally World. Locally, the Acme is the Albertson's property, and they are the highest price supermarket chain around. WW is one place I won't shop at. The lower prices are insufficient to overcome the negatives of shopping at Walmart.

We tried the metric system. It sucked. And trying to find 12.7mm wrenches is hard.

And Fahrenheit is more nuanced and fine grained. My wife might agree with you though.

And btw, the term "soccer" came from Britain. It comes from "association football" and was a person who indulged in it (socc from association and -er for the person, IIRC)

Louis - Prayers for your mom. I know how close you are to her. Hopefully she'll be able to return home soon.
Thank you Chet,

Mom and I have become awfully close in these last 13 years. I got to know her better as a person, and I was able to see things more clearly from her perspective. The more I got to know her the more I loved, respected, and admired her.

She has not yet been able to return home, but I have been able to spend some quality time with her. We have even been able to watch some of the MLB playoffs together!

I took apart the steam engine that returned to me from the postal services lost and found. Spoke with my postal person and he looked at the box and explained all the tags.

The linkage between the gearbox and the motor was also broken/cracked. Added some tubing and gorilla glued it in as I I have done to previous Westside Models locomotives.

First answer No
Second answer No. Canada tried already and gave up on us.
Third, I've watched soccer, It's like playing tag with a ball added in the mix. Not physical enough. Add the fighting and checking like hockey then you might have something.

That was tried, and failed miserably in the mid-1970s. The only thing that seems to have "stuck" is automotive fasteners are now metric.

Ya know, most of our forefathers left Europe for a reason.

It is good that you are able to spend this precious time together. Prayers and best wishes for both of you.
