Good Friday morning to the start of an interesting weather weekend. Last night the prediction of white stuff was moved from 6am Saturday to 6pm tonight. Now it’s moved to 3am Saturday but they have posted a Wind Chill advisory. But even though they are moving the times around the snow is still at the 6” guess level.

Yesterday I saw a neighbor RAKING his front yard. Even with spots of snow in our yard he was piling leaves!

I have too many issues with the Packers that I see to jump on they are a great defensive team. They did beat a Detroit Lions team yesterday but they don’t look very good either. I just don’t see a Super Bowl appearance for any of the NFC teams

I’ll do some bridge weathering this morning. Today I am offically starting on structures for the friends paper mill. A few false starts this past week but he’s happy with the plan. See the thread Let’s build a paper mill for a friend.

I got payment from the wayward missing Client. He has no idea what happened to his text address or PayPal id but he thinks it was an issue with his provider. I will get his package to the post office this morning. He doesn’t want the insurance from the USPS on his package of 6 diesels. His choice and something I have to remember now to ask about. I used to cover it as part of the weathering but $46 on a $2900 package is crazy unless the package disappears. Trying to collect on damages is darn near impossible. Even a lost package is a 6 week wait to see if it shows up before they will pay.

The brother asked me Wednesday in a text if we wanted to buy his Maui place. We then discussed it in a Zoom yesterday after the Packer game before dinner. He’s not sick but the responses kept coming back to his girl friend needs to be closer to her medical care in Arizona. His place in Maui is out of this world beautiful and without the threat of snow. But it’s so boring to me and Terry no longer rides and my sister can’t really travel, It’s not worth it. But Terry loves Maui. He wants an answer by the New Year. Terry and I will talk to the kids today to get their thoughts but I know the daughter and her hubby will not move, visit often yes, but not live there. The son, maybe but his girl friend is part off a highly successful management team with ownership promises in Austin so probably not for her. They have talked marriage and he hasn’t run like usual so…

Enjoy your day

Y'all can keep your snow above the Mason- Dixon line and out of Alabama.
it is bad enough that it was 27 degrees F at 7 am this morning and I have to go greet the public at McWane Science Center this morning.

This got left out. I have mentioned before that I was painting and repainting HO figures over the last several weeks and thought I was through.
I sorted them into general categories and put them back on a shelf near my layout. Straightened up some other containers and found another stash of people.

It looks like there are about 150 figures to be painted. I guess it gives me something to do in my spare time for the next few weeks.
At least these folks are native born Americans, so we don't need to worry about green cards.

Good Morning All. Mostly cloudy and 43°, might reach 60° later today and 70° tomorrow after possible overnight showers; the result of a strong SSE wind coming off the Gulf of Texas. Much colder weather hits Saturday night and will be with us for a couple of days. Expect a couple of overnight freezes.

Hope that everyone had a very good Thanksgiving Day.

Yesterday was a beautiful day, wind-free, sunny and 62°. It enabled much of yesterday's festivities at my sister's home to be outside. Smaller gathering than usual with just 36 of us instead of the usual 45+. Still a great time was had by all. Food was aplenty, although some appetizers like pigs in a blanket ran out early. I only brought home enough fruit salad to last the two of us 1 day.

Black Friday? Not here. I don't even drive anywhere on this day, and my wife probably hasn't gone shopping on Black Friday in over 45 years. One time was enough to convince her that it just wasn't worth it, and most of the sales even back then lasted for another week or so. And now, everything seems to be available on line for those wishing to avoid the crowds.

Not sure what I'll end up doing today until I see when the sun warms things up. Leaf gathering is needed but it may get too windy to be practical.

No time out in the train shed yesterday, I just wasn't here. I did have an extended conversation with my brother regarding our respective layouts, he's an HO modeler as well. My other brother will be setting up the Lionel stuff at his house this year for the family Christmas get-together which will be at his place. He bought a large tent w/heaters last year to set up on his patio for Thanksgiving, which we will use since the trains still get set up on the living room floor. He just hasn't built a dedicated outbuilding like me and my HO brother have for his stuff. He has all of my Dad's trains, in nearly mint condition although well used, some dating back to 1937 along with his own stuff.

Louis - Yep! I got the same greeting from Chet yesterday along with the phone call. We always have great conversations.
Troy - Congratulations on finishing another book. I guess that the glass of brandy is later today. Or is it whiskey?
Mikey - I think that I have finally located and combined my whole stash of figures. I love that part of the hobby, painting and placement of people. I may have posted before, but I have over 1200 currently on my layout and probably over 600 waiting for me to progress to the next unfinished section. I've probably painted close to 800 of them myself, so far. I like those Preiser figures that you posted, more than the poorly made Chinese ones.

While I normally just note musician's birthdays, I did note one for Karl and another NASCAR fan, Chet; Chase Elliott is 30 today. While I never saw him race in person, I used to see his dad Bill Elliott all of the time when a vendor used to give me tickets to the Bristol and Texas Motor Speedway's. They are one of the only three father/son NASCAR Cup Series Champions. For you trivia fans, the other two are the Petty's (Lee and Richard) and Jarretts (Ned and Dale). I used to see Dale frequently including his final appearance at his home track in Bristol TN.

Everyone have a fine Friday. Be safe if you are going shopping.

Willie:

I picked up a set of coup glasses (stemmed wide round bottomed glasses similar to martini style). Then 3D printed some under-shelf racks to hold them at my whiskey bar.

I plan on trying my hand at a Manhattan tonight. Sweet vermouth only. Not a fan of the dry vermouth.

Good afternoon, all! Well, we survived another Thanksgiving, didn't even have to let out the belt. Great food and I always enjoy having family in.
Plans are being made for Christmas.

Big G - Great to see you back. I have often wondered how your Liberty ship and layout came together.
Chet - Get well soon and get back in "forum".

We do not get snow very often this far south, but when we do it is pure chaos on the roadways. Lots and lots of drivers that have never driven in snow or on icy roads. Usually a good time to stay home.

STAY SAFE
LATER

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those with props and a film

It's Troy again.

Took a nap this afternoon. I think I'm on my way to earning the Napping merit badge.

Wife wanted something other than pizza, so we went to the regional-chain Wings etc for burger and tots for me, breaded tenderloin and Mac-n-cheese for her.

Of course, it's a bar/restaurant with all hard surfaces. And they seated right next to the table of 6 that was loud. But they were standing up with to-go boxes in hand, so I didn't complain. But then... three of them stayed behind to finish one more round of beer.

What is it about beer that makes people go from normal speech volume to LAUGHING REALLY LOUD! TURN IT UP TO 11 type noise?

I actually took my hearing aid out of the left ear that was facing them.

But, when we got home, I managed to make a Manhattan (Rye, Swt Vermouth, bitters) and served it in my new coup glass.

And then, local weather decided to update the snow total guesses. The line shifted a little, and we're on the edge of the purple. So we're in the quasi-band of 4 to 10 inches possible tomorrow

I've got the new electric snowblower assembled. The patio cleared, and brought the power cord for the blower inside the condo to stay warm and flexible. Now we wait.

Evening folks, I have made it through my food coma from yesterday. Its currently 61, cloudy and breezy.

Today ended up partially busy; I noticed a wet spot on the ceiling where the heater and A/C sit in the attic, thought a drain tube had plugged up but we have determined its something internal that's causing moister to leak into the heater housing itself then drip out. Got an expert coming out Monday.
Then while we were at it I help my dad with installing new sprinkler heads to the aerobic septic system. Wasn't much to it.

Right now, I've got an Athearn SD45 on the bench which I picked up for a decent price due to it being inoperable. Motor is free but whatever green-colored grease that was used on the worm gears and bearings had hardened and locked them up. Might put 'em in some Super Clean and see what happens. We've got 70% chance of rain tomorrow, so that'll give me a reason to stay in and mess with it some more.

Good morning, Everyone!

I need to get my glucose back in the good range. My son gave me a bag of my favorite potato chips from Costco, and I have been overindulging! Skipping a meal did not help!

I don't know why they switched from sea-salt to Himalayan salt, they taste the same to me, too good!

Have an enjoyable day Everyone!
