Back again. I just got off the phone with fellow forum member Chet (Montanan). He wishes everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Please remember him in your thoughts and prayers. He is recovering from lung cancer surgery and is doing well. He would love to get back on the forum, but he has forgotten his password! He would like to offer some of his remaining train stuff for sale on the forum. Between Todd and me, all of the structures and most of his engines are gone, and I have some vehicles and figures; but he has a lot of rolling stock and vehicles left.
He misses everyone and the comradery here.
Thanks Willie for passing that along to us.

We miss his presence on the forum as well!

Well, howdy there internet turkeys and hams

It's Troy again.

I didn't get a "finished pic" but here's one right before I started mopping on the glaze.

The glaze was whatever syrupy stuff came with the ham, but I cut it about 2 pts syrup: 1 pt Sweet Baby Rays Honey BBQ sauce.

Wife made her sweet potato casserole and cornbread. Wayyyyyy too much food for us, but we have dinner for tomorrow, lunch for Saturday, and probably for Sunday. AND I filled up a bunch of snack sized ziplock bags with Ham bits. Enough of them to fill a gallon sized freezer bag. That's the ham sammy stash for the winter.

I feel a nap coming on, so I'll come back to read about your turkeys later.

Good Morning All. Happy Thanksgiving to all, even if you aren't in the US. Mostly cloudy and 43°, not near the low of 36° that was predicted by the weather nerds. Not great weather forecast for today, but acceptable with the high near 60°. Might be shorts weather if the sun comes out. No snow in our forecast.

Yesterday was just an average day, kinda just relaxed before the odyssey today to my sister's for the Thanksgiving feast. I'll commence to making our food assignment of a fruit salad shortly.
The forum seems to be fixed this morning. It was annoying for the past couple of days, but it's not like it hasn't happened before.

Once again, no new project work out in the train shed yesterday. Ran trains again. I did disassemble a Kato SD40-2 that was running sluggishly, and cleaned out and re-greased it. My notes show that I last did that 9 years ago. Even though it's companion is running OK, I will do it next time that I am out there just to keep them in sync with one another. It took a while to disassemble the first truck, since I didn't remember the nuances from the last time. Another reason to do the companion quickly while I remember!

Troy - Even though we have been empty nester's for around 20 years now, and also don't get many visitors; I still put up a Christmas tree every year. My wife suggested skipping it a few years back, but I resisted and put it up anyway.
When we first moved into this house in 1981, we were haunted by idiot four wheel drivers quite regularly. There's a Corps of Engineers flood control lake across the road, and before the private property was fenced off, many adventurers would drive over there to go "mudding". Yes, you can go anywhere in a 4 WD vehicle, but when you get stuck, it's also far from anywhere. Since this was in the days before cell phones, they would eventually walk to our house late at night and ask to use the phone to get a ride home. Several local farmers used to make some good money pulling them out the next day!
Louis - You did a nice job coloring the turkey. You stayed in the lines all of the way around.
Gary - Welcome back to the Coffee Shop. I saw your post over in the other thread.

The late guitarist Jimi Hendrix was born on this day in 1942.

Everyone have a very happy and safe Thanksgiving.
Thank you Willie, I will try and pop in more often for sure.

It is funny how a person can go through life and not realise certain facts.
Meeting family in Yorkshire this week, my cousin Margaret said, “Did I realise that I am the only male in our generation?”

Wow! Yes she is correct. Whenever I met any family there was girls, girls and more girls.

Why just me I do not know. Being an orphan from three days of age I know they treat me like a brother they never had.
Having girls around is wonderful

Smoked Jabba the Hut :)

Good evening all!

The last guests have left, the dishes are all washed and put away, and just carried the last of the tables and chairs downstairs. We ended up with 24 total. Way too much food , but it was a great time with family. time to plan the Christmas eve get together. It was agreed that it will be held here this year.

And now its time to relish the silence!

Updated snow totals for Saturday into Sunday. I live right on the 3" under Fort Wayne

Your storm is slated to arrive here sometime Tuesday. No real predictions on snow yet.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving here was a little stressful here. Went downstairs this morning to feed Sir Fluffybutt and found half the basement in water. Traced the offender to the upper element on the hot water heater leaking. I shut off the water and spent the next 2 hours with the shop vac removing water. Since everything is closed today our Thanksgiving was very much like the 1st Thanksgiving as like the Pilgrims,, we had no hot water either!!! We survived! Sons 1,2,3,&4 were here , DILs 1&2 also with me and wifey. Daughter and fam checked in from the outer banks, was a good time for everyone!

Tomorrow I have to open the shop, #3 son is coming back with parts for the heater. Hopefully he will get it fixed before I get home, If not we will work on it together.

Welcome back Gary !

Again Happy Thanksgiving to those celebrating. Looks like my area just slightly west of Madison Wisconsin should receive at least 6”. But now the warning says from 6pm Friday night to 9pm Saturday night. I don’t see the 8 -12” being forecasted this morning anywhere around me.

Dinner was good and lots of texting with family.

Enjoy

It is similar. I guess it’s a take off. The head does move I think I have to get it back out.
So the camera version of Google Translate says the title, Tenshin-Beco is “dim sum beco”. And the various versions shown have names like “sesame dumpling” and “drink more”. Mine is called “peach manbeko” and indeed the tail is a Japanese style peach.

So the “dim sum” explains the Chinese bamboo steamer basket. So I guess they took the Akabeco and had some fun with the idea.

A lot of the gachapon capsule toys are tied in to Disney or marvel or Star Wars or one of a million different anime/manga lines or Thomas the tank engine. I like to get the weird or off beat ones. I don’t usually get the commercial themed ones except I’ve been known to get Star Wars in the past as well as Godzilla ones.

I got a Gibson guitar once and they have a cool Fender series right now but they are 500 yen a pop and it would probably take me 5 tries to get the Jazz Bass I’d want.
