Haven't been to the barber since about 1999. Started a part-time gig that I got home late and needed to wash what I had at night, so I shaved it.
I use Louis' solution and just buzz it monthly with the bare clipper. Which reminds me, I gotta hit it again this weekend.

I have noticed one looks less bald when it's short and not attempting a comb over.

You might remember my tire alert on the car issues a few days ago.

Well, wife is driving the Camry to Indy (about 2.5 hours) and she called from the rest stop 45 minutes out... Tire pressure light came on. Then went off when she parked, but restarted.

This is different. It came on and stayed on for me. So I'm thinking the maintenance visit at the toyota dealership got a software upgrade on the car's computer.

She got to her destination, and said the tire pressure light came on once more, but went off.

Tires were checked on Monday, and the car serviced on Tuesday. Unless I picked up a nail, or a wire, everything should have been great.

Any word about wonky software updates on 2016 Toyota Camry tire pressure codes?

Typically there are no software updates for tire pressure sensors, only for the car itself, since the sensors are just mindless slaves to the "mother" car. That being said my suspicion is that you have 1 or more sensors that are nearing the end of the road as it were. They all have a tiny watch battery that powers them sealed inside. Depending on age, temperatures and lots of other variables they can last anywhere between 4 and 8 years, and can work one day and not the next , then work the next day.

I just replaced all 4 in my truck (2016), They were working ok but getting old. Just added them with the new tires. We have 1 wonky one in the wife's car (2017) that acts like yours. I'll replace all 4 soon.

I got new tires about 3 years ago at Discount Tire. Do they replace the sensors with new tires? I thought they did.

With regards the MTL / Atlas thing. I got this on the JNSForum.com

-------

Quote from Atlas;

There’s been a lot of talk about Micro-Trains tooling being ‘shipped off to China,’ so let’s clear that up right away. While Micro-Trains has had some limited production in China in recent years — at some of the same factories Atlas uses — none of the U.S.–based tooling is being moved to China. That assumption just isn’t accurate.

Atlas has been around for over 100 years. The company was started by an immigrant from Czechoslovakia, and over the decades manufactured products in the U.S., Japan, South Korea, Austria, Germany, England, Italy, Yugoslavia, Brazil, and yes, China. The point is: Atlas has always used a global production mix, choosing partners who can meet the quality, tooling and cost requirements for each specific product — not relying on any one country.

Something that often gets overlooked is that Atlas has always been headquartered in New Jersey. That’s where administration, R&D, marketing, advertising, parts and repairs, customer service, and distribution all take place. Those are American jobs that stay right here. On top of that, Atlas regularly works with engineers, designers, and consultants from across the United States on product development, tooling, electronics, and problem-solving. A lot of U.S.-based expertise goes into every product line, including we hope, some MTL employees who are offered Atlas jobs, and decide to stay.

To be clear, no Micro-Trains molds or tooling are being sent to China. The core operations will remain firmly in the United States, and Atlas is actively looking to employ former Micro-Trains team members. Our goal is simple: preserve the Micro-Trains product line, support its skilled workforce, ensure product availability, and maintain the same high level of quality and fidelity that customers expect from Micro-Trains and Atlas

my FAVORITE GERMAN restaurant has a logo similar to that its call hauffbrow Haus its in cincinati (please excuse the spelling)

Hofbräuhaus...Huf-broy-houz... phonetically.

Belleville, Illinois had one too. It lasted three years. I visited twice because it was 50 miles away. Had I still lived in Belleville at that time I would have been camped out on their front lawn.

Mis-management and property taxes killed the Belleville location. Also, due to a lawsuit from Hofbräuhaus of America for trademark and copyright infringement. The lawsuit alleged the local franchise sold domestic beer, had arcade games, and failed to pay royalties

Shhhh! I just saw an ICE crew on TV raiding a restaurant on the other side of town.
I just welcomed about 100 European immigrants here.

All have their green cards. These people join .about 300 Asian immigrants that got their green cards several months ago.

They all will become the population of my town with several hundred existing people from various backgrounds. My small town of about 1000 will have room for more people as I discover the safe places I put them a couple years ago.

Professional pilots think the gashes on the roof were the left wing. It had already rolled by that point. This is per some YT vids by professional pilots. I have not yet seen the Mentour live discussion as it was over an hour.

Also mentioned was that the nose got to 174’. Not necessarily the whole plane. The sensors are in the front area.

It has now been determined by the NTSB that the left main gear penetrated the roof of the UPS warehouse across the fence from the runway threshold. New photos and crash analysis of recovered parts indicate the same cause as the AAL 191 crash in Chicago. This is a preliminary report.

Photos substantiate the theory. Aft engine to pylon mount failed. Rear of the engine fell after mount failed and then pivoted up and over the wing until the front mount failed. Engine continued up and over the fuselage until it spun down and crashed to the pavement. Fire engulfed the left wing and flame and shrapnel from separated engine was ingested by #2 engine causing a compressor stall leading to reduced to no thrust from #2 engine resulting in loss of control and subsequent crash.

Since you just had the tire pressure checked on Monday, I doubt there’s any issue with a tire.

Each tire has its own battery-operated sensor, and as far as I know, the batteries aren’t replaceable. It’s likely that one or more of the sensor batteries is starting to die.
Do they replace the sensors with new tires?
No, not unless you request it. I’m on my fourth set of tires for my 2020 Equinox, and I’ve never been asked if I want the sensors replaced.

Places like Discount Tire or Walmart often avoid dealing with the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), especially when installing new tires with aftermarket sensors. Getting the sensors recognized by the car’s computer through TPMS relearn or programming can be tricky, so it’s probably best to have it done by a dealer.

When my sensors were working fine, Walmart wasn’t sure how to reset the TPMS. I told them, “Don’t worry, it will reset itself.”

If it were my wife, I’d suggest she walk around the car and look at the tires closely before driving. If they all look the same, they’re probably fine. If she’s still concerned, I’d recommend getting a pressure gauge or having them checked by someone who has one. Most tire shops will gladly do it for free, though it’s best to be prepared to pay. I'd tell my wife to give the tech a $20 tip

Peace of mind is priceless.

Yes. The photos form the security camera that were released by the NTSB are pretty scary and sad. I mean the one that clearly showed the engine falling down and around up over the wing.

It’s good that we have better info and evidence as to the course of events. Hopefully this leads to improvements in safety.

RIP brave aviators who tried to control it the whole way. and RIP the victims on the ground.

Good morning, Everyone!

I received notifications from the IRS and the State of Maryland - everything is wrapped up for another tax year. Best of all no audits! “Pay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God.” Life is simple when you focus on the fundamentals. If only I could get my taxes done in April instead of October.

That is an idea for a New Year's resolution, get my taxes done in April! I don't want to be distracted by taxes when my Birds are battling for the World Series trophy! Oh yeah, 2026 is going to be the year for the Baltimore Orioles! I say that every year and God knows I believe it every time I say it.

Here in Bird Land, it is the Ravens that have my attention this time of year. The Ravens are back to .500 and poised to make a push for the playoffs. With the Steelers leading the AFC North by just one game over the Ravens, it should be fun to watch!

I don't concern myself with Baseball's "Hot Stove" speculation. No one knows who will be on the opening day roster. I do know my Birds are loaded with young talent. I wouldn’t want to be the one responsible for making the final cuts before opening day.

It's time for me to get ready for work.

"Another day another dollar" or something like that.

Enjoy your day Everyone!

I thought someone said they were all fired/released.
They were, other than a handful to finish filling orders in process. It could be Atlas saw the storm brewing, and changed course before things got out of hand. Or Atlas planned to rehire/retain workers, and MT management mishandled their end. I guess we'll see how it plays out, though from my interactions with both the CEO of MT and the CEO of Atlas, I know which of the two I'd believe.

Anyway, good morning. It's mostly clear and 55. One more day before my last vacation while working for my current and soon to be former employer. And it looks like "everybody" will be unemployed starting the 26th, to be hired by the new company on the 28th, so they don't have to pay for the holiday in between.

I was thinking that too.
