The little “town” of Hee Haw.

I have a co-worker that yells “jack ass!” every time we give him crap. He is the youngest guy in the shop, I think he just turned 22, and he’s a great fit and a good worker. I told him I was going to dedicate a little corner to him.

He 3-D printed the sign and donkey, I bought the 3-D printed mobile home. Got lots of ideas and stuff for this corner. Every layout has to have a little humor in it.

Morning all,

38° and partly cloudy in my part of Doo-Dah, with a high of 66° later. Supposed to turn to rain starting overnight and into the weekend.

Garage door is operational, but not fixed yet. They make their own springs and will be back this afternoon with the heavier springs. They are rated at 4X the average openings but only about 25% higher in price. I thought that was a good deal.

Feeling pretty good since the machine. Only one coffee yesterday and didn't feel like I needed that nap after lunch.

Not much happening yet, but still early. Someone will find a way to mess up my morning....Hopefully not Cloudflare again. Yes we were affected.

Amazon delivered my 3 packages to my neighbor.
I have been suggesting for years to Amazon to stop grouping stops together. If I have multiple addresses grouped together, I can scan them all and then get mixed up as to which one goes where! What I do is to verify the address on the package before I walk away, it's fool proof. After more than nine years I still catch myself making a mistake. Many drivers are in "hurry up and F'up" mode.

Good Wednesday morning! I had to look at the time, day and date in the upper left hand corner because I couldn’t remember the day! Thursday the brother turns 69, my sister turns 77 on Friday and the grandson turns 12 on Friday. The daughter had her birthday on the 4th 2 weeks ago. So I really need to check the days this week so I don’t forget to call them!

It’s 31f degrees heading to low 40’s. The app says 0% chance of snow but I’m not sure that Mother Nature is listening. Those are definitely white flakes coming down. I’ve been up almost an hour and the back deck at 5:30 was clear, now at 6:11 it’s white

Off at 10 for a few hours at the site of the paper mill install. Final check for the 1st 91” of the paper mill facade. I have the base and facade faces to haul over for the Chip storage, bleach, stock prep

paper machine building and wrap building. I made the bases with slots the facades fit into at the depth from the wall the friend thinks he wants. I also have the bases for the unloading spots. That’s why the final fitting before I do side walls and roofs. The sidewalks in the picture above on the bleach building are painter taped on just to show the depth of the building placement. I’ve only laminated the concrete base and metal siding to the bleach chemical building facade. I figured there is nothing but basically a wall do this first building. The big 9.75” tall x 38” long Paper Machine building has 2 rolls of windows both about 34” long will be the last building completed. The 2 rows of windows have started to intimidate me as I really start to think about them

I am also taking along the Swing bridge

the eastern approach and a partial of the western approach girder bridges. The goal with the bridges is to get the abutments installed on each shoreline. The 2 piers in the river need a height adjustment and final weathering. Then my plan is to do the final weathering in place but his wife is thinking she won’t be able to handle the Aryclic paint fumes, of which there are basically none, but…

I also will take along the bases only for the 32” of the warehouse/shipping building and 24” for the digester/recovery/power building complex. The wood handling and pulp storage yard is still a matter of actual placement. If we add it to the left (original plan) both the power plant further left of the mill off property and the digester complex will be affected. If we go far right it frees up lots of space and eliminates some overly congested track work. So we decide today and I have poster board already there that I can cut up to create the foot print. I told Terry I’m leaving at 9:45 and will be home by 5 to head to dinner and volleyball on campus tonight. I want to know the final dimensions. He keeps drawing track plans for the mill. Finally I told him Sunday night in a text to install the 2 mainlines and the interchange track. Add only the crossovers and switches to the complex on the interchange track and we will figure the rest by using flex track and his switches. For an engineer I guess that’s a big step to just wing it.

I added a description of what each building in a Intergrated paper mill complex like this does in my thread. Let’s build a paper mill for a friend!

Enjoy the day

The Japanese address system is a bit strange. You have the prefecture (state), city, area and then confusion - almost to the first house on the left, next to the apple tree, after the 2nd intersection type thing. An example would be: Kanagawa prefecture, Yokosuka city, Highland 1 chome-5-2. The 1 chome is the first area to be built (my guess), 5 is the 5th block, and plot 2. I was super confused when I first got here and started looking for model train shops.

But, these guys know how this works and since I have my name on my gate, no excuse. My house cam showed that he was using his phone for navigation so not sure how he got messed up.

Here is the video that got me started on making my own trees from Luke Towan now known as Lucy but the videos still come up under Luke Towan. I have literally have made 2500+ trees using this method

Not complicated and is very straight forward. At one time I was a regular follower and occasional supporter with $$$. However, he really went heavy into Patreon and his really great stuff went behind the paywall. He/she has at least 15 videos on trees. Easier way to find them is in a YouTube Tube search type in Luke Towan does trees and his tree list will pop up. One of the best producers of content on YouTube Tube at one time in my opinion. His Patreon favoritism just pushed me away.
hey tom

thank you for the link i know him/her and the videos. but will again check them out. its always nice to have different approaches or type of ways to do things :)

Morning folks. 49°F in the southern Land of Lincoln this morning.

Did my grocery shopping this morning. Now I have to get off my lazy but and go get a haircut. I woke up at 0600 this morning after not turning in until midnight last night. I can feel a nap coming on already after lunch.

I will probably do the grass today on my small layout addition after lunch today if I can stay awake.

Have a great day today!

Servus!

Good Morning All. Foggy and 64°, looks like partly cloudy overhead. Supposed to be cooler today, only 83°; that's not much cooler than yesterday's 87°. The forecast calls for thunderstorms around midnight with rain all day tomorrow. But the really heavy rain is supposed to hit us on Sunday with a prediction of over 2" before it ends sometime Monday.

Another busy day out on the homestead yesterday. I loaded up another week's worth of firewood and partially stacked it before stopping for a task for my wife. This is wood that the (amateur) lumberjacks cut for me last fall from tornado damaged trees. Didn't need it last winter so it has just been drying in place until now. Yes, ants were an issue on a couple of pieces. Fortunately not wood ants, just piss-ants who had made their nest underneath two different pieces. Noticed them before I got a single bite and those two pieces were tossed aside for today. Ants should have abandoned them by now. I ended up with a honey-do list which I would have preferred not to do. But a happy wife...!
I plan on doing some weedeating today and unloading/stacking the rest of the wood. Need to double-check the dry firewood supply inside; I won't need it tonight or for a couple more days, but I will need it by Monday.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I worked on a different project. While looking for something else recently, I came across a bag of detail parts for a work flatcar from Walther's that I never completed, because I packed the details away when I moved from the old train room to the new train shed years ago. I first changed the wheels to metal ones, it has had Kadee couplers on it since it was built.

The tie load on the right I had made out of removed ties from flex track at the time of assembly since I didn't like the look of the ties provided with the kit.

Yesterday I painted the tools and wheelbarrow seen on the left in the first picture. Then I moved the wooden fence a little to the middle of the car. And I added some posts (leftovers from an antique Athearn flatcar kit) to the stake pockets so my track maintenance workers would have something to grab when getting on the car.

Added a load of ballast.

And the tools and stuff next to the pile of dirt provided with the kit.

Finished project.

Meanwhile, I ran each pair of my new SD40-2's and GP9U's with a 17 car load train for several laps in each direction. The only issue that I found was a loose coupler box on one of the SD40-2's that I didn't spot on the new car inspection last month.

Patrick/David - I think that the Cologuard test doubles as a sneaky way to get a person's DNA into the data bank!
