Good morning gang!

Temps in the lower 50s today, and enough gusty winds so that front porch chairs were in the driveway this morning and the trash hopper had fallen over.
I'm kinda glad now that I didn't rake leaves yesterday, as now I have a new set of leaves in the yard, and my leaves are several houses away by now. I did however headed to the not-so-local LHS and picked up the 44 tonner that I was shorted last week. View attachment 248049Rapido really did a great job with these! . Runs smooth as butter, and the sound is amazing!

Wife is actively Cricuting, might go shopping for a pellet stove later, might just play with trains, decisions decisions!

BBL
I have 3 of them and couldn't agree more. 2 SP and one industrial. I can't wait for their SW9.

Howdy folks, good Sunday afternoon. Real pretty yesterday and the GS was fairly busy. One of the customers was coughing and sneezing like crazy and I seem to have absorbed some of that as feel like garbage today. Plan is coffee and cold medicine as I am working tomorrow as well.

There is something nasty going around. My daughters club volleyball practice was cancelled Friday night and basketball practice was cancelled Saturday morning due to a lot of the girls being out sick. Quite a few of them are together for both so the scrimmage game at meet the teams night Wednesday probably passed it around. She has yet to come down with anything, but its a matter of time. I usually get walloped the worst, so there's that to look forward too.

Hope you feel better soon!

Terry - Get well soon if you aren't already better. I always find that running trains to be a good medicine.
I am feeling better now, but Friday, not so much. I did discover a happy coincidence in the house, in that the toilet is located close enough to the bathroom vanity I didn't have to get off the toilet to, umm, use the sink while using the toilet...

Well, howdy there internet peeps

Slept in to 6a today, so I' was in a rush to get to the game store on time. Opens at 9a, but I had to prep my army and list, terrain, etc.

Played a game where we were both using "new" to us armies 2 or 3 games each with our force, and I couldn't remember half of my special rules, and he forgot to add in most of his. FUBARed a few core rules.

Here's my dwarves in action:

The above are "Magma Forged" dwarves that just want to give their opponents a hug of fiery love, while they exude hellfire and swing their axes.

Below is the Stoneforged giant with spellcaster on top.

Hell-o everybody on the forum........

I haven't been posting much lately (not that anyone really cares) as I have had a bunch of real life events to deal with. Nothing major, just one event after another that has kept me busy or tired or both.

Great day in the 80s here with plenty of sunshine. Should be like this until Wednesday with a couple of days of rain, then temps in the upper 60s in the balance of the week. Good time for some train room action.

I attended the Oklahoma City Train Show yesterday held every year at the fair grounds and man what a show. I arrived at 10 am and left a little after 2 pm. The promoters moved this years show into a larger building and it was comfortably packed. Several new, out of state vendors were there, Resource Rails for one and Kadee had a booth this year, their first time at the OKC show. I could have spent a couple of more hours there but I was was just about "walked out". Over the last three weeks, I have had some pain in my right knee so it was acting up yesterday.
There was a lot of great deals and a few not so great, but I spent way over my budget and could have really loaded up my credit cards if I did not discipline myself. One vendor had around 40 cardboard boxes stacked three high on tables and each box had about 40 or so Accurail kits with several more boxes full of Tichy kits. Tichy kits at $10 ea and Accurail ay $12 ea, with a lot more stacked on the floor and tables. I could have spent over an hour there just looking through the kits he had.
As I was getting tired, I did not take the time to look at all the train layouts that were there but I did check out a few as I passed quite a few on my way to the exit. One modular club layout from Atlanta Georgia was there with several more out of state guys with layouts.
I did manage to get several great deals on some loco tenders : All listed below for less than $200.00 total.
Athearn Genesis U.P. Gas turbine tender
Scale Trains U. P. early water tender (black with silver Union Pacific lettering)
Scale trains U. P. 23C fuel tender, un-numbered (yellow & gray with red lettering)
Bachmann Spectrum, USRA long tender, un-lettered, DCC ready
Other items are :
4 - Intermountain, Santa Fe early reefer cars, brand new old stock @ $20 each
1- Intermountain, Santa Fe two bay, open top hopper @ $18
1 - ERTL Cotton Belt flat car @$10
3 - Tichy kits @ $10 ea
1- Trix ( Marklin) Burlington reefer (1945 date) @$18 ....these are nice and hard to find
1- Atlas, U. P. S-2 diesel locomotive, black with yellow lettering w/ DCC & Sound @ $119.00
I have listed some prices, not to brag on my spending but to show what I considered to be low prices compared to e-bay or on line hobby shops. Those Intermountain items usually go for around $30 to $35 when you can find them. And the Scale Trains tenders usually go for over $100 each. Just saying, there were some GOOD deals at the show.

I have a 2012 Corvette that hasn't been driven in about six months so I think I will take advantage of the nice weather today and go out for a cruise today.

Gotta put some new blades on the lawn mower as one came loose last week and wrecked it along with one other. I picked up the new blades last week as they had to be ordered from my local auto parts store. Mower parts aren't usually stocked this time of the year but my grass (weeds) don't really care.

I have plans to work in the train room on Monday and through next week. The train show got the juices flowing again and thats a good thing.

O K, I'm done here.

Take care........John

We are in Rochester, Minnesota in one of the cleanest hotels we’ve ever been in. Located 2 blocks from the main entrance to the Mayo Clinic the front desk girl (she looks like a 8th grader) said 90% of the visitors are here for Mayo visits. So the place is well kept.

31f degrees here and may reach 41 later. Tonight we will stay at the home of my 1st assistant still called secretaries back in the 80’s. She was a management student in college double dipping as my part time secretary. She has done very well. She has been part of the management staff at various medical facilities in the Midwest and being at Mayo since 2002. We visit each other 4/5 times a year. We’ve been friends since we moved to North Central Wisconsin in 1976. She kicked her good guy hubby to the side around 2000 after 20 years married and has been with her partner ever since. They are a Fun couple.

We will wander home sometime Monday and not sure if we go home the boring way via I90 with La Crosse being a stop or follow the river along the Minnesota and Iowa’s side till we get to Dubuque. Then 75 minutes home via Hwy 151. Such tough choices!

The hockey game was interesting. I don’t normally bash referees, but! They were not good on Friday night but I don’t think the calls they made affected that game as much as the ones they didn’t. Yesterday though the bias against the Badgers was so obvious it is suspicious. 4-4 at the end of the game. Sudden death over time was still tied. The shoot out was won by the Badgers. This tie should kick the #1 ranking to #2 and elevate Ohio State to #1. They will play in Columbus in a couple weeks.

The grandson played 2 in Dubuque yesterday morning. 0-3 in the 1st game at 8:15am. Later at 11am they played the same team and awake this time destroyed them 11-1. The grandson said he played well in the 2nd game. We will watch a replay of the win as the SIL sent us a copy this morning.

Looking forward to being home.
Which hotel? Wife and I go up there every spring for our annual checkups. This year we stayed in one of the major chain hotels, which had good food, and the Clinic was accessible through the tunnels, but when we checked out a day early, they wouldn't refund the unused day. They also didn't have WIFI available to change our airline reservations. We used to stay at a Doubletree by Hilton for years, but they converted it into dorm spaces for the U of M Rochester.

Holiday inn express by the Mayo Clinic and St Mary’s Hospital campus that is where we stayed this time. I’ve stayed at the Kahler Grand Hotel across from a Clinic for 3 second opinions over the years but we prefer the IHG brand of hotels.

not that anyone really cares
You might be surprised! We often get caught up in the daily grind and don’t always find the time to comment as much or on as many posts as we’d like. I for one do my best to read what is going on with my train buddies. This is my only social media! @santafewillie will likely back me up on this. He doesn't always comment on what I say, but I'm all but certain he reads everything. As do many others

They don’t just look incredibly cool, they seem unbeatable! Still, I’m curious about how the games turned out.

Finally have all 60 pieces of HO track cleaned and the rail joiners NO-OX ID'd, which meant taking the joiner off and placing a layer of NO-OX on with a q-tip. Very tedius. Laid out my new design and placed a lot more track, power extensions and two #6 switches on order. Will be placing two more #6s on order later after a month of cup o'noodles budget recovery.

Started the N track cleaning process and should at least be able to get something running soon with it since I have a lot more track available than HO.

Yep, best would be welding, but I don't have a permanent set up yet.
