Good morning all. A cold, almost icy day.

Yesterday I made eleven rustic sweet mince pies and one jam one. Then there was five plus one. Now there is two plus one.
"We must save some for Sunday," says Dawn. ?????
We all know they do not taste the same.

Good morning all.
A large coffee please, Flo.

Wife wanted a burger for lunch, so off to 5-Guys ... and they were playing the "Crappiest Music of the 80s" CD. Ugh... A beasty boys track we'd never heard was the most memorable... neither of us like the BBs.
Years ago, between marriages, I dated an exotic dancer whose coworker always chose three Beastie Boys songs to perform to. I enjoy hard rock as much as anyone, but I find the Beastie Boys absolutely mind-numbing.

We are in Rochester, Minnesota in one of the cleanest hotels we’ve ever been in. Located 2 blocks from the main entrance to the Mayo Clinic the front desk girl (she looks like a 8th grader) said 90% of the visitors are here for Mayo visits. So the place is well kept.

31f degrees here and may reach 41 later. Tonight we will stay at the home of my 1st assistant still called secretaries back in the 80’s. She was a management student in college double dipping as my part time secretary. She has done very well. She has been part of the management staff at various medical facilities in the Midwest and being at Mayo since 2002. We visit each other 4/5 times a year. We’ve been friends since we moved to North Central Wisconsin in 1976. She kicked her good guy hubby to the side around 2000 after 20 years married and has been with her partner ever since. They are a Fun couple.

We will wander home sometime Monday and not sure if we go home the boring way via I90 with La Crosse being a stop or follow the river along the Minnesota and Iowa’s side till we get to Dubuque. Then 75 minutes home via Hwy 151. Such tough choices!

The hockey game was interesting. I don’t normally bash referees, but! They were not good on Friday night but I don’t think the calls they made affected that game as much as the ones they didn’t. Yesterday though the bias against the Badgers was so obvious it is suspicious. 4-4 at the end of the game. Sudden death over time was still tied. The shoot out was won by the Badgers. This tie should kick the #1 ranking to #2 and elevate Ohio State to #1. They will play in Columbus in a couple weeks.

The grandson played 2 in Dubuque yesterday morning. 0-3 in the 1st game at 8:15am. Later at 11am they played the same team and awake this time destroyed them 11-1. The grandson said he played well in the 2nd game. We will watch a replay of the win as the SIL sent us a copy this morning.

Looking forward to being home.

Good morning all!

Not going to be quite as nice today as the last few days have been. Still going to be a decent day weather wise. Currently 35F
heading up to a high of around 48F with mainly sunny skies.

Not sure what is on the agenda for today. Pretty much everything was done yesterday. Thanksgiving is going to be at our house
again this year so yesterdays grocery list was much longer than usual, but a lot of the needed items were on sale this week.

Wife got a jury summons a couple of weeks ago and had to call in this weekend. Her group is one of them that has to report on
Monday. It didn't help her mood when I reminded her it was her civic duty. hopefully she will get dismissed, but who knows.

Hope to see some train time tonight!

Have a safe day everyone!

Good Morning All. Clear here and 55°, not as hot today, only headed for 81°. But a return to the upper-80's again tomorrow and Tuesday. Still have rain in the forecast for later in the week and turning much cooler Thursday. Lows will remain in the upper-40's though.

More of the same stuff happening around here, started pruning some of the trees yesterday, not the major winter pruning, but mostly sucker branches growing out of the trunks. The brush pile is getting bigger and I'll have to think about getting the shredder/chipper out. On a side note, I have far fewer volunteer Oak trees this year than in the past. Two factors, the first is that most of the flower-bearing branches were broken off during the tornado of 2024. The second possibility is that since there are fewer acorns to begin with, the resident squirrel hasn't been burying them.
I also began the process of removing the dead Tomato plants and carting them over to the compost pile. That early freeze was a shame, since in a normal year I can still be picking fall Tomatoes into early December. Also cleaned out the frost sensitive vegetation from my wife's planter box.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I started on the window shades for the 13 window units in the Downtown Deco structure. I think that I completed 9 of them. Painted the sidewalk that I made last week and also started on the signage. I made an interesting discovery when I dropped the tweezers on the floor. I found a dynamic brake fan cover while picking the tweezers up! Stopped and searched several of my new engines before I found the newest ScaleTrains GP30 that it came from. So that was immediately glued in. I don't think that they are glued to begin with.
Not sure how much time I'll get out there today, as Sunday is always a short time due to Mass in the morning shortening the whole day.

Karl -
Good morning gang and Happy SATURDAY! I say it like this so all the retirees can remember that church is tomorrow!
That's why I always include the day of the week in my farewell sentence; but it's mainly to remind me what day it is!
Terry - Get well soon if you aren't already better. I always find that running trains to be a good medicine.
David (Marlin) - That lunch is not too healthy, IMO. I have leftover Butternut Squash, Cabbage and Mushrooms in the fridge right now. However my lunch yesterday was a leftover blackened Salmon filet, with a slice of cheese and some Dill pickle chips on a Ciabatta roll. I'll have to try your combination without the chicken today.
Hughie - Mom also made Mincemeat cookies and pies at home. While they weren't a favorite of mine, I tolerated them OK. However the Plum Pudding was refused. My Dad loved it but none of us kids did.
Kusojiji - I meant model train cab-view videos.
Mike - That reminds me that I got a jury summons last week as well, to appear on December 1.

Everyone have a great Sunday.

This just popped up on my YT feed. Our first home was in the Ardenwood subdivision, of Fremont, CA. We butted up to the historic Ardenwood farm. Our home was just on the other side of road, outside the farm, at about 1:25 in the video. Brings back good memories taking our son there....harvest festival, animals, historic homestead, blacksmith, old functioning steam and gas/diesel farm equipment and of course the train.

This is just about the farm.

Good morning gang!

Temps in the lower 50s today, and enough gusty winds so that front porch chairs were in the driveway this morning and the trash hopper had fallen over.
I'm kinda glad now that I didn't rake leaves yesterday, as now I have a new set of leaves in the yard, and my leaves are several houses away by now. I did however headed to the not-so-local LHS and picked up the 44 tonner that I was shorted last week.

Rapido really did a great job with these! . Runs smooth as butter, and the sound is amazing!

Wife is actively Cricuting, might go shopping for a pellet stove later, might just play with trains, decisions decisions!
