Check these out. A buddy of mine made these for his N scale layout. Pretty cool. I put my order in for some Conrail “Central Penn Division” ones. He does both Digitrax and NCE face plates. If any of you guys are interested in any, let me know and I can get you his contact info.
Appropriately enough for Veteran's Day, today is George Patton's birthday. Born in 1885, he died 80 years ago. As far as I can remember, it was still called Armistice Day during his lifetime.
Willie: I heard that this evening. It was a Jeopardy Question. Sadly no one knew the answer...two of the contestants were educators, one a PHD candidate.
According to the host, the Holiday was changed from Armistice Day in 1954, although many people continued to call it Armistice Day into the 1960s.
I wore my Army PT Sweatshirt to Physical Therapy today...mainly because of the cold. As we drove over for the 1100 appointment it was snowing. Back into the 50s tomorrow.
Northern Lights Were visible in Northern Illinois tonight.
I have checked an item off my bucket list. I have never seen this phenomenon in person and
have always wanted too. Tomorrow is supposed to be more active and can be seen a little
farther South.
I didn’t see this personally. I looked out the window but there was too much light from the overhand of our roof and it washed out my view.
But this pic is as taken in our neighborhood tonight. The person who took it said you could see it with naked eyes but that it was much better taken with the phone
I really wanted the front coupler back on my D51, so I took the smoke collector off, removed the leading bogie and broke the snow plow off. PVA ain't the glue to use in this case. Have been trying to stay away from CA as I normally end up with stuff stuck in weird angles.
So, scratched the brain and printed up this guide for the snow plow. It hold it at the correct level and uses the steps on the loco for centering.
Now that I have done this, I'm going to have to remember that I have to take the front bogy off and remove the coupler in order to remove the bottom retainer plate if I need to grease up the bearings. I hope I don't break anything else off.
Edit: Nah, all that stuff doesn't need to come off. I forgot and had to look more closely. Bionic eye needed to be put back in.
