Tom, I found that to be very interesting coming from a longtime fan, thank you.

I have a question for you. As a diehard Bears fan, particularly the 1985 Bears what are your thoughts on the NFL's all-time greatest defenses?

I grew up watching the outstanding Colts' defenses of the late 60s to 1971. Then came Pittsburgh's steel curtain and Dallas's Doomsday defense. Many "experts" leave all three out and with go either the 1985 Bears or 2000 Ravens.

Personally, I think it is all but impossible to compare as a team's offense has a big impact on their defense. Not to mention rule changes throughout the years and their opponents have a say in it as well.
I think for general impact on the field the 85 Bears and 2000 Ravens next. I watched all those teams you mentioned and no defense was as scary to play against then those 2.

Like Jordan and the NBA trophies the Bulls collected the 85 Bears and 2000 Ravens are teams I feel could play in any era and most likely win again. I don’t have that feeling about the Steel Curtain of the Steelers or the Doomday defense. I will admit though even back in the 70’s and 80’s I already had a hate Dallas mentality and still do

I'm done for the day. I got the timbers installed and the stucco panels. I had my choice whether to leave it as stucco or fill in the timbers with brick. I chose the brick, but I only did one short wall. On the backside I sill have to install the stucco panels. In the third photo you can see about half of the stucco installed. The cardstock is textured so it could be left as stucco, but I do like brick.

I also put the lower wall covering on that is photo-realistic. This should look really good if I scenic it on the layout correctly. I'm still looking for a spot to locate it.

howdi all

just a short hello from my vacation. had zero minutes in my trainroom till now, but i will have a full day of time by the end of the week. today i scrolled through the web and came across this track plan:

IMG_0239.png

iam just wondering, is this really just 2 feet deep?
because this looks more or less like the space i have atm with my layout, but this looks way more spaceious in the corner. the turn looks so wide o.O so why i post this? i dont know haha. i dont want to rebuild my layout. no i really dont, but this trackplan looks like a lot of fun for switching.

what i do know, i will rebuild my mountain i think once again. it does not really have a mountain or rockface feel atm. this has to change..

cheers you all.

T'he UniTrak set is ordered and I went to the LHS to buy the train. LHS had some really good pricing on N stuff.

I live in the PacNW so I bought a UP SW7 from BLI (DC/DCC/Sound). OTD price was equal or less than buying on line before shipping. We don't have sales tax either so it was a really good purchase.

The PacNW is lumber country and they had a Micro Trains logging car 4-pack a little over 20% off list. I won't need a caboose. This will just be mindless entertainment while working in my office.

I don't know how much scenery I will add, but I may cover it in low lichen covered hills just to break up the monotony.

So I've made some bank recently, with my commissions, off the gun auctions. My wife said to buy something, I earned it.

Here's an out-of-the-box idea I want to get some feedback on.

I have a 2'x 3' diorama base in storage. I've tried N scale, but it was a pain working with the small stuff. I haven't had a continuous run anything in decades. This Unitrack set should be a piece of cake to lay down and I just need to figure out what small train to run on it.

I have a MRC power pack so I guess I could buy a BLI DC/DCC NW2 and get the sound or just buy a DC Kato, Atlas, BLI etc. I was thinking just a small string of covered hoppers and a caboose. Tight curves so I will be limited to small 4 axle engines and cars no larger thans 40'.

Throw some train ideas for this therapy track plan. N scale only ideas.
Happy Birthday!

I took a look at that listing and it says R216 curves, so a lot of choices for power is out there. Like Chad mentioned, the Rhatische Bahn stuff will fit. I just looked at the spec on mine and it can do R150.

Kato also has a pocket line that can do R150. These are cheap and run nicely.

I checked my NW2 and it doesn't provide the minimum radius, but with the short wheelbase and small overhang, it should do fine.

I used to have a tiny R216 curve track on my table, which is smaller than that 2 x 3 and I believe I had the 40' boxes running. I think any bogy mounted coupler system will manage.

Hey! Kusojiji - Regarding the bears that you posted about last week, I just ran across this article in US News and World Report.
Japan sends military in to contain bears.
Yup, Koizumi, the son of a past Prime Minister, who came up #2 to the current Prime Minister as party lead, who was the head honcho rice guy, is now the equivalent to a Secretary of War. With Japan's gun regulations and hunters needing to be registered, etc etc, and police needing permission to shoot, and all the other red tape needed to be cut before someone can take action to save someone's life (sorry, had to get dramatic but you get the point), the self defense force was brought in.
