I thought it was great looking and this being C40-8W, one just doesn't see them freshly painted often.

The Delaware and Hudson Sharks were beautiful:

For the uninitiated, the D&H back in 1970s acquired last working pair of Sharks, and they were a huge hit with the railfans. The pair is still in existence, but rusting away somewhere one of the eastern states.

One had a damaged crankshaft, and the other had been vandalized by "railfans", who also stole several repair manuals for the engines. They were stored indoors by the E&LS railroad. I seem to remember them being sold/traded/loaned a couple of years ago, but nothing since. The last time I saw photos of them, they were still in the D&H warbonnet paint.

One of my golf friends asked me about the Lavales speaker I bought for golf and walking. He wanted to know what the quality of the sound was. It's sounds great that's not the problem. The problem is getting the music onto the TF Card that comes with the speaker. I own a lot of classic rock CD's. You have to buy a program called Express CD Ripper to get the songs off the CD and on to your computer. The next problem is getting the songs from your computer on to the TF Card. That means you have to buy a SD Adapter where you insert the TF Card. After you buy that you have to buy a USB SD adapter to insert the SD adapter. Now your ready move your song onto the Lavales Speaker. All the song I like are being copied onto the speaker tonight so their ready for golf Wednesday. The music helps me keep a smooth golf swing. What format does the speaker require? I just use windows media player legacy for my rips.

I guess the micro SD cards are not so widely used nowadays if you needed to get all that stuff. Since I don't do streaming or cloud, I still have a lot of those adapters, especially for my Blackvue car cam.
Yes, TF Cards are not widely used Kusojiji. Their very small. I not sure what format the speaker is capable of using but I copied them onto the TF Card using the MP3 file format. Swal

6MB song - went for high quality! Like your play list! Juke Box Hero, now I have to go find it.
Kusojiji I have at least 200 hundred songs or more on my play list. I 'm trying to get them all copied onto the TF Card. They're not in any kind of special order. For golf I like to listen to the slower tempo songs. Gives me a sense of a slow smooth golf swing. Very clear, clam, toned voice as in Sirius Eye In the Sky Swal

We've been seeing a lot of bear reports on tv. And then yesterday, they show that bear tastes good. I wouldn't mind trying.
Kuzojiji: Bear to some people is something akin to Liver; it is an acquired taste. Tough, stringy, greasy and sweet. I have tried a bunch of different various ways of cooking: fried, baked, broiled... and at different temps: rare.rare, rare, not so rare, done and well done. No matter how it come out neither of us like it. Don't matter if Brown, Black or Griz. We can't get by the texture. I have never had it pickled though. Even the backstrap is tough. Oh, it does make great jerky though.

Bears can tear into a car to get a candy bar.
Here in Baltimore City, we don't have bears, but we do have wildlife.

A junkie is like a hungry bear if he sees cash, loose change or anything of value in car.
Who am I kidding, there is no such thing as excess Reese's cups
I could be the only person who does not like Reese's Cups. I love peanut butter and Hershey's Chocolate is my favorite, but not together.
I had forgotten all about that series. I saw that many times back in the 70s when I was a kid.
It can still be seen in reruns. ME TV was showing it. I still watch it whenever I catch it on TV.
That was an awesome show.
I have the DVDs of the movies and series; I still enjoy watching it.

I showed the series to my grandsons when they were six and seven. The episode about the Aliens scared them the most. Even though they never show the aliens.

I got bear salami once from a friend, loved it.

Well, howdy there internet Jijis

It's Troll again.

in an interesting note, the friends we were out with on Saturday for their 45th anniversary are Japanese-Americans (one a Hawaiin-born). I mentioned that I had a friend from the forum living in Japan and his handle was Kusojiji.

They both burst out laughing.

Kuso is 💩💩 and Jijji is "old man". They asked if he knew that?

I grinned and said "Yep..."

Another day today of author conferencing. We have the vendor show yesterday and I spent half the time working the booth trying to get the word out about one of the author professional groups I'm in. We had a table set up to get the word out. Our group does have a baseline of earning X,000 per book on 2 books to show you've got expereince in the business beyond just punching the PUBLISH button on Amazon.

Tiptoeing through the next topic to avoid the danger zone: I did get to meet an author who writes Biblical Women's fiction, but from a LDS perspective. We had a very interesting chat (I'm not religious, but am fascinated by the field of comparative religions, esp the various denominations). Her name is Angelique Conger. Put an "author(dot)com" after her name to find her books if anyone is interested. Her books focus on women of the Bible. Thought some of you or your spouses might find her work interesting. NOTE: I've not read any, but we had a good discussion about her work.

Today is kickoff of the seminars, with a bunch of head spinning imbibing of info I didn't know I needed.

I had cake from the Carlos Baking Co Cake Machine for breakfast. Saving the rest for the next few days.

More later.

Good Morning All. Clear and 49°, expecting 80° today thru Saturday. Then a 2 day cold snap before returning to the 70's on Tuesday. There's a 6% chance of precipitation on Thursday for 2 hours! I predict that it won't happen.

Indoor stuff yesterday morning, before splitting some firewood just before lunch, kind of a warm-up to PT at 2:00. The physical therapist really worked me over yesterday. Not enough to use any pain reliever, but enough to wear me out. But that's the purpose, to rebuild my stamina.
Today's choices of outdoor tasks include cutting and stacking firewood, mowing which I didn't get to yesterday, dusting off the weedeater and using it somewhere, or hauling wood chips to the garden to till in.

Election day today in Texas. We're voting on 17 Constitutional amendments, 10 of which are for extending tax exemptions. A couple of examples:
Proposition 2
Ban the state from ever creating a capital gains tax on investment profits.
Proposition 5
Exempt animal feed inventories held by retailers from property taxes.
Proposition 8
Constitutionally ban any inheritance or estate tax (which Texas currently does not levy).
Proposition 11
Increase school property tax exemptions for seniors and Texans with disabilities.
I'm not sure how #11 is going to work, as school property taxes for anyone over 65 are frozen anyway.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I mainly just continued painting the Hydrocal structure.
The mortar line between the structures was delicate.

Inside the window openings took some time. I tried painting some of the brickwork a little darker color also. Not sure what caused that shadow in the bottom of the picture!

Did some other concrete trim and mortar lines as well. I'm looking forward to starting on the rockwork next.

Tom O - I've tried for 10 years since retirement to get up later than 4:00-4:30, unsuccessfully. The time change in Spring only lasts for a day or two before I revert to the old habit! Used to turn off the alarm about 30 minutes before the "drop dead time" when I was working! Doesn't matter if I go to bed at 9:00 or after midnight
Kusojiji - I never have had the opportunity to eat bear either. They're not native to my region, although a few have been sighted about 50 miles east of me, probably (according to the Texas Wildlife people), coming from Oklahoma's southeastern forests.
Louis - Off-topic. Since I can't read the Baltimore Sun any more, due to the paywall, I haven't kept up with your always interesting, mostly female politicians. However I did read on another source about your Baltimore City State Senator, Dalya Attar, and her recent indictments. Kind of an amusing backstory.

Everyone have a terrific Tuesday. I'm hoping that the Stock Market has as good a November as it had in October.
