Good Morning All. Clear and sunny! It's 41°, getting into the low-70's again today. Yesterday was a perfect wind-free, sunny day. Tomorrow and the next few days, we'll be closing in on the lower-80's. No snow expected. The rain yesterday turned out to be just a mist for maybe 30 minutes.
Today is Dia De Los Muertos, or as known in English as Day of the Dead, All Soul's Day in the church liturgy; to commemorate the memory of the departed. It's a very big event in the Spanish communities around here. They traditionally set up tables/chairs on top of the graves of their beloved family members and have a party in their memory. Alcohol is in abundance and even the normally sedate womenfolk imbibe freely. It's quite a sight if one happens to go to a cemetery around here. And yes; there are also some fisticuffs among the young men if you look at someone's girlfriend wrong!
I'll be home however, toiling in the great outdoors. Need to haul some firewood to stack in the pile, and maybe cut some more. Depends on how I feel. Might catch a minute or two of some random football game if I set foot in the living room with my wife who is an absolute fanatic. She's in several fantasy leagues and switches from game to game to check on her players; although she made a comment yesterday that many of her players had a bye week this week. It just hasn't re-kindled my interest since I quit watching around the turn of the century.
Out in the train shed yesterday, I finished touching up the GP9U engine, and I took the shell off and dull-coated it.
This made the yellow blend in just a bit better. Even on the prototype locos, there was always a bit of a difference between the color of the handrails and the rest of the engine.
On the Hydrocal structure, it appears that the Walther's Goo is working to close the 1/64" gap after clamping overnight. I gave the assembled structure another coat of white primer and then masked it off for a spray of brick color on the LH part of the building.
The red splatters seen on the inside of the rear wall through that window, is where I tested the color on Friday to see if I liked it. It won't be visible after I put curtains in the windows. I also added the roof supports on the inside of the walls; they can be seen through the windows also. I did spray the paint, but I haven't unmasked it yet. The wall on the RH side will be brush painted.
Mikey - There's no way that I could paint those Z scale figures, even using the Optivisor.
Karl - Nice family photo. Quite a height difference between your son and DIL. Reminds me of my paternal grandparents, Grandpa was 6'4" and Grandma was 4'11". Her genes are the reason that I am height-challenged. My son got Gramps genes, he is also 6'4", a foot taller than me. And yes, the shoes are rockin' as
Marlin posted.
Michael - I'm not sure what this rash is, it doesn't itch so it probably isn't eczema, it doesn't hurt so it probably isn't shingles; doc confirmed this. He really didn't have an answer as his primary specialty is internal medicine.
Swal - Those 15" high blocks are too low to make a comfortable resting place, at least for me.
Troy - That Prime Rib looks perfect to me!
Everyone have a safe and great Sunday.
