David - Do you have any other pictures of the canal boat and the canal?
Hi Willie. Canal Corner is just that; in the corner. I have three canal boats. One is a pleasure boat named Clarice, after my Aunt who brought me up after my mother died. Another pleasure boat is named Kingfisher. The third is a coal barge named Ada (after my mother). The coal barge is found at Clarence Dock.

I shall post some pictures later.

Good morning from a brisk start to a So. Central Wisconsin day. 22 degrees cooler (it’s 33) than yesterday at 7:30am but it is a beautifully clear sky. High may get to 49 about 15 less then the 10 day forecast from last Friday.

Terry and her 2 friends are leaving Pasadena today for Maui. My sister is not traveling with them.

I leave for San Antonio this afternoon at 4 for 3 days of golf. My flight is Madison to DFW, so Willie, when I fly over your estate I will wave! After 50 minutes sitting in DFW I fly to Austin where I will have dinner and overnight at the son’s place. The golf tomorrow is at TPC San Antonio and it is only 1hour and 18 minutes from his place. He will drive me, say hi to his uncle, have a late brunch with us and then has a meeting in New Braunfels on his way back home. My tee time is at 2:05. There are no direct flights to Austin from the airports in Wisconsin. This will be my 1st time in the DFW airport. My son says it’s nothing special.

The attorneys told us yesterday the “eminent domain” case filed against our property was improperly done. It should be getting withdrawn this week but it can be issued again but negotiations have to be done first! They also expect the ruling to include the “reasonable” legal fees we have incurred. This is just a temporary minor win. We know we will lose in the end if they follow correct procedures. But we are planning to make it expensive and irritating for them.

I have the work bench cleared off. This morning I am weathering the programing/test track in my shop. It is 3 modules from my old layout that consist of the pulp yard, chip pile, a portion of the paper mill and the tree tunnel. I ordered last night 40’ of backdrops for these 24’ of modules. Adding a few feet of connecting track to the main layout is in my mind. Most of my weathering pictures have taken place on the scenes in these 3 modules. My workbenches are under these modules. They sit at 54” high the work benches under are at 36” sit down desk height. I thought I’d clean and spruce them up. I doubt the layout will advance much beyond what I have until after Christmas.

That also ended speculation he was going to the Mets. They hired Carlos Mendoza instead, luring him from the Bronx Team.
Milwaukee sports know it alls say the Mets hired Mendoza first, then Cleveland hired their guy leaving Counsel to the Brewers. No one knew he was talking to the Cubs and everyone is supposedly stunned even though the Brewer owner didn’t seem to have an issue with it. Is he worth 8 million? Are any of our entertainers ( sports is entertainment to me) worth what they get? If he gets the Cubs back to the WS, the owners of the Cubs will say yes. I say, good for him.

After reading for a week Counsel was going to the Mets. Then that people were shocked he visited Cleveland it says to me, much of the “insider” information is BS. The reports last night indicated the Cubs have been talking to him since his free agency began 11/1, they just did it quietly.

Good Morning All. Clear and 61°, likely to hit 85° today. Rain is still in the forecast for Thursday, although it has been advanced up to noon instead of sundown.
I did accomplish my planned tasks of getting the ashes out of the wood-burning heater yesterday, and sweeping the chimney with my new toy, the rotating chimney sweep brush. It took me a lot longer than the professional took last year, but it was successful. It will go quicker next time now that I know how everything works and I have minimal experience now. After lunch, I mowed a bit out on the "back 40". That's the highest and driest area that I normally mow. Most of the rest of the yard just doesn't need it yet as the rain that we got was cold, followed by a cold spell.

Daylight Savings Time vs Standard Time - I haven't gotten used to going to bed in the dark yet!

Out in the train shed yesterday, I finished up most of the last of the 75 or so backlogged figures with their spray of dull coat. I still have 4 left to do but I can't decide on their colors yet.

I'm moving on for now because I need the workbench to add some of the recently painted ones to structures.

Tom O - Too bad about the brunch, especially after having two other good meals/service there. I only do brunch once a year on Father's Day at my SIL's country club. The omelet bar is next to the prime rib bar, guess which one I choose!
Your son is correct, there is nothing special about the DFW airport except that it is big. Inbound flights from up north are about 25,000 feet directly overhead, just barely visible for me. But I'll wave at everyone that I see/hear.
Sherrel - As someone else pointed out, you and Jet have that same look on your faces.
Todd - I know that some of my branches actually died, from the dry sawdust created by the chainsaw. I did leave many in hopes that they would come back, but I have my doubts on some of them. As long as the trunk and roots survive, new branches will sprout from them.
Mac - What kind of animal is Goofy really??? His son is a dog, but his girlfriend is Clarabelle the Cow!o_O He never really looked like a dog to me. Those aren't canine teeth.
Curt - White metal kits take a lot of patience, and I hesitated before finally trying my hand. It didn't get any better even after a half dozen. I posted about the motorcycles, while I have built a few, there are far more waiting. I have made a few small structures from Woodland Scenics, but those take me quite a long time to get right.

Today's musical birthday, noted songwriter/singer and musician lover Joni Mitchell is 80 today.

Everyone have a magnificent day.

Morning Folks -- 47, I think, and looking for a high of 71 ... thats 20 degrees down from two days back. Supposed to be mostly sunny, however that works?

Curt, Willie! That look was the result of NOT KNOWING that Jet was a LAP DOG!
Guess where he landed? Might have been a wee bit of hurt at that moment!

Jet is a cutie Sherrel, quite a lap dog!

I was always under impression that Goofy is a dog...what is really fascinating, Pluto is also a dog, yet he can't talk or drive a car🧐...What would be even more interesting, is where this conversation would go if we both had a drink, or two😆

Tom O: It is entertainment, pure and simple, and they are all overpaid. But that's not going to change on my say so. Considering the talent that Cohen bought leading up to last season, they should have won the Series. Instead, Cohen bought last place. Did he learn his lesson? Of course not...just wait for Free Agent frenzy.

it says to me, much of the “insider” information is BS.
Sure does, eh? They get paid to speculate, so they throw mud on the wall, and hope it sticks...most of the time it doesn't, but we all have a short memory span, right?

Whilst 'Clarice and 'Kingfisher' were 'easy builds, 'Ada' was more difficult
Nice work, David. They all look great Is Ada a collier? Clarice and Kingfisher appear to be passenger / general cargo. Great scenery.

Jet was a LAP DOG!
Sherrel: Jet is the perfect lap dog...I'll bet he also likes to kiss you.

Went over to the Ocean, walking 1.58 miles on the boardwalk and beach...Cloudy and Mild at Sea Girt. Fishing boats were out in force.
Sea Girt 11_07_2023 JSW.jpg

Manasquan Inlet is to the right - breakwater is visible. Meanwhile Public Works using backhoe, bulldozer and dune buggy are leisurely installing snow fence to prevent drifting sand on the beach... Something must be biting close in. Ocean is quite calm, due to very light West wind.
