Only good kids like you and your wife. This is the time of their lives when parents get back at their kids, right?
I’m a little confused.View attachment 176530
I thought that was the jelly of the month club. It’s the gift that keeps giving…
When my daughter does that it quickly becomes a "missed call"well, howdy there internet peeps, and those up early (or late on the other side of the pond)
It's Troy again...
A bit of the vent about to begin...
As you might remember, wife and I have one car. Sold the second off when we moved to California, and don't need the expense of a second, now that we've moved back to Indiana. We both work from home, so scheduling use of vehicle is fairly easy.
We both have our elderly mothers we cart around to various Dr. appts. We have a shared calendar on Google that we add the various doct appts to.
When I last took Mom to the doc, she had to schedule labs for her upcoming Liver Transplant Clinic at the Transplant ward. The date they gave her (today) is the same day as the wife's mother's eye doc appointment.
To get from mom's labs to MIL's eye doctor is almost a three-hour drive. We live in the middle-ish of that. Mom is 1.5 hour drive from me.
Mom had said she'd take the shuttle bus from her Senior apartment, so I didn't put her labs on my appointment.
I called her yesterday. "You're coming up for the labs, then to take me to breakfast, right?"
"No, mom, you were going to take the shuttle..."
"Well, I need to give them 24-hour notice, it's too late now...."
So we scrambled and got wife's sis to take MIL the 45-minute drive from here to the eye doc.
We're dealing with memory issues with my mom. So, I should have called last week to remind her, but it wasn't on the calendar, so I didn't realize she hadn't done it. Note to self, put the appts in - even if it's just as a reminder to have her call and schedule the shuttle.
This is the time of their lives when parents get back at their kids, right?

OK. Going to drink my coffee and try to get some of my gaming tourney work done for this weekend. Good thing I get up early.
It’s the time of the year to watch that again.I thought that was the jelly of the month club.
OK, my interpretation, based on a similar experience with a National Home Center, who's card is managed by a Major National Bank. If you have a balance prior to the purchase, that balance accrues interest at the normal rate...The card minimum payment is based on that amount, and any payment you make, is first applied to that minimum. Any additional payment amount is then applied to the interest free payment. However, if you do not pay 1/24th of your interest free payment each month...it is very difficult to complete the deal, before all the deferred interest (on the original balance) is applied to your account... SO, your actual monthly minimum payment is actually, (using your example), $30 Plus 1/24th. of your interest deferred purchase, for each month through the 24th month...That's assuming they apply your payment as I outlined...no guarantee they aren't going to first apply it to your original balance over your stated minimum...You have to read the statement carefully each month...Oh, by the way, additional non interest deferred purchases charged to that account will further muddy the water... The only way these things work for the consumer, is if you have a Zero Balance at the time of purchase, and pay it off within the stipulated time or sooner...Good evening. It's clear and 75.
I'm not 100% sure, since the language in the agreement is about as clear as 6 feet of mud, but I may or may not have made a purchase for 0% interest for 24 months. It was "supposed" to be any purchase $699 or more would get 24 interest-free payments using their store credit card.
Okay.
I made a purchase of $800, deciding to take advantage of the free interest.
Now that I have the statement for the purchase, it appears I must first make my minimum monthly payment of $30, then anything over that is applied to the promotion. Again, if I'm reading this correctly, I have to pay $30, on which interest is charged, and anything over that is applied to the zero interest promotion, advertised as $35 a month. So, I pay $30, which gets charged interest somehow, then the additional $5 doesn't get interest charged on it. Or something. And this is a national electronics chain, using a huge banking/credit card institution, so I may be reading more into it than it seems. I guess time will tell me, since I intend to pay the $35, and I'll see if everything has interest charged on it, if it really is zero interest for the entire thing, or something meant to slide hidden charges and fees in after the fact.
Confused? I am. It should have been pretty clear, like I thought it was when I made the purchase.
Terry, I did not see your second post until after my post was sent...Now we all know what the deal is.OK, my interpretation, based on a similar experience with a National Home Center, who's card is managed by a Major National Bank. Plan on paying it off in 23 months just to be safe.Okay, rather than just posting here about something nobody can really advise on, I had sent a message to the company regarding the purchase.
Basically, I need to take the total amount, including tax, divide it by 24, and pay that every month. Interest charges accrue, but are deferred until the end of the 24 months. If I have paid the thing off by then, the accrued interest goes away. If not, I have to pay all the accrued interest.
It's our way of getting back from the cold Canadian air that your cousin sends us.Good afternoon all. There is a strong rumour here that all this rain we are getting is coming from across the pond. If it is you sending it, STOP IT.![]()
